- Shoplifting – On Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Officer Michael Baldasari completed a shoplifting investigation, resulting in the arrest of 56-year-old Giacomino Sandella of Oak Hill Court in Lanoka Harbor. The shoplifting occurred on November 3, 2016, at the Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. During the incident Giacomino Sandella shoplifted merchandise valued at $31.69 before fleeing the store. He was processed, charged, and released on a complaint summons for Shoplifting.
- Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 7:41 p.m., Officer Robert Duffy responded to the 1000 block of Clubhouse Drive in Forked River for criminal mischief. The victim reported that between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on December 13, 2016, an unknown person or persons cut electrical wiring for her Christmas Lights. The damage is estimated at $10.00.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 6:47 a.m., Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the 400 block of Penn Avenue North in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that during the overnight hours of December 13th, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered two unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveway and stole property. The first vehicle entered had a brown leather wallet stolen, which contained the victim’s New Jersey driver’s license, vehicle registration, Social Security card, $10.00 cash and assorted credit cards and medical cards, with a total value of $25.00. The second vehicle had a PBA gold card valued at $5.00. stolen. The incident is under investigation.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Monday, December 12, 2016, at 3:57 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that on December 12, 2016, at approximately 6:00 a.m. he discovered his backpack valued at $25.00 missing from his vehicle. The victim believes it was taken sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on December 11, 2016 while he was shopping at either Home Depot, Kohl’s, or Shop Rite in Lacey Township. In addition to the backpack, a Dell laptop computer valued at $1500.00, a tablet valued at $200.00 and headphones valued at $20.00 were stolen. The total theft is valued at $1,745.00. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle and the incident is under investigation.
- Theft – On Monday, December 12, 2016, at 12:28 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 400 block of Nantucket Road in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that between the hours of 6:00 p.m. on December 11, 2016, and 12:20 a.m. on December 12, 2016, an unknown person or persons removed the victim’s laser light display from her front yard. The laser light display is valued at $50.00.
- Shoplifting – On Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 6:38 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to the Wawa, located at 701 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 44-year-old Alfred C. Castino of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, for shoplifting merchandise valued at approximately $10.00. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Alfred Castino was released after receiving a criminal summons for Shoplifting.
- Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 4:55 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 500 block of Crosswick Avenue in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that between 7:30 p.m. on December 10, 2016 and 1:00 p.m. on December 11, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered her vehicle and stole her wallet, along with additional property from the center console. The victim was unsure if the vehicle was locked. The wallet was a black leather wristlet that had a skull with diamond eyes on it, valued at $180.00. The contents of the wallet included a New Jersey driver’s license, $45.00 cash, a family member PBA gold card and various credit cards. In addition, two knives and two small mace self-defense sprays were stolen from the vehicle. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $235.00.
- Drug Arrest – On Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 1:34 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road and Trenton Avenue North in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19-year-old Christopher E. Gomez of Point O Woods Drive in Toms River, New Jersey, for Possession of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Christopher Gomez was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition he received traffic summonses for Failure to Maintain Lane and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
- DUI Arrest – On Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 11:59 a.m., Officer Patrick Watkins conducted a traffic stop on Lake Barnegat Drive North and Brentwood Place in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 51-year-old Dale A. Pierson, Jr., of Spar Drive in Forked River for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Dale Pierson, Jr., was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, Maintenance of Lamps, Improper Passing and Failure to Yield. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- DUI, Possession of CDS, and Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 12:24 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler was dispatched to the 1100 block of Laurel Boulevard, in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 28-year-old Thomas J. Girone, Jr., of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, for DUI. In addition, several open wax-folds of Heroin were located in his lap when he was initially contacted. Thomas Girone, Jr., was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with Possession of CDS (Heroin) and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Bail was set in the amount of $10,000.00. In addition, Thomas Girone, Jr., received traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Driving with a Suspended License, Failure to Produce Insurance Cards and Tinted Windows. Furthermore, Thomas J. Girone, Jr., had an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant with bail in the amount of $458.00. He was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility. The vehicle Thomas J. Girone, Jr., was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Shoplifting – On Friday, December 9, 2016, at 3:56 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a shoplifter. Initially the female shoplifter had fled the store, leaving her property and the stolen merchandise behind, however, she later returned to retrieve the property. When she returned to retrieve the property, she was apprehended by Loss Prevention. In addition, when she was apprehended, she assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 30-year-old Jennine P. Lizer of Elizabeth Avenue in Toms River. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Jennine P. Lizer was charged with Shoplifting merchandise valued at approximately $20.00, Defiant Trespass and Simple Assault.
