  • Theft and Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, August 31, 2014, at 11:07 a.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to the 400 block of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a theft. The victim reported that between the overnight hours of Saturday, August 30th into Sunday, August 31st, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered the garage and stole three bicycles with a total value of $1,200. In addition, eggs were thrown at the residence.

  • Criminal Mischief – On Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 12:55 p.m., Special Officer Russell Moller responded to Gille Park, located at 56 Manchester Avenue in Forked River, for criminal mischief. A representative from the Lacey Pride Lacrosse Club stated that between Friday, August 15th and Friday, August 29th, 2014, an unknown person or persons damaged four Lacrosse nets with damage estimated at $500.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, August 29, 2014, at 2:26 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was speaking with 48-year-old Jeffrey Parker of Chestnut Street in Forked River on Spruce Street in Lanoka Harbor during an unrelated investigation. Officer Sarno soon learned that Jeffrey Parker was wanted on an outstanding Lacey Township warrant in the amount of $750. Jeffrey Parker was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released after posting the bail.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, August 29, 2014, at 11:39 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn conducted a traffic stop on Lake Barnegat Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 28-year-old Kevin P. Gibson Jr. of Lake Barnegat Drive North in Lanoka Harbor, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle Kevin Gibson was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest (Arrest) – On Friday, August 29, 2014, at 10:45 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe, Charles May, and George Resetar responded to the Lanoka Harbor Marina, located at 888 Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of an intoxicated male who fell into the water. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the intoxicated male subject, identified as 52-year-old William Johnson of Lavender Lane in Levittown, PA, was out of the water. Officers observed he was being held down on the ground by several subjects. William Johnson was extremely intoxicated and combative. William Johnson was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and transported to police headquarters. He was charged on a summons with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing the Administration of Law.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 10:55 a.m., Officer John Cernek responded to an East Lacey Road residence in Forked River for damage to a vehicle. The complainant reported that during the overnight hours of August 27th into August 28th, 2014, an unknown person or persons damaged his vehicle. The damage consisted of a smashed driver’s-side window. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident. The damage is estimated at $500.

  • Distribution of Heroin (Arrests) – On the morning of Wednesday, August 27, 2014, Lacey detectives witnessed suspicious activity on Constitution Drive in Forked River.  Further investigation led to the arrest of two suspects in a motor vehicle and one pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian, 22-year-old Maureen Marsh of 360 Constitution Drive met with a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Dana Kutassy of 431 Cabot Street in Forked River and a passenger, 25-year-old Paul Townsend of 11 Eno’s Lane in Forked River. During the meeting, the occupants of the vehicle purchased Heroin from Marsh. All three subjects were arrested. Paul Townsend and Dana Kutassy were charged with Possession of Heroin and Destruction of Physical Evidence. Maureen Marsh was charged with Possession of Heroin and Distribution of Heroin.

  • Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary and Criminal Mischief – On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 8:22 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to headquarters for an attempted burglary report. The victim reported that between 6:00 p.m. on August 21st and 7:30 p.m. on August 27th, 2014, an unknown person or persons attempted to enter a residence located on the 700 block of Oak Road in Lanoka Harbor while the residents were not home. The unknown person or persons reportedly damaged both the rear screen door and sliding door while attempting to gain access. It does not appear entry was gained and nothing was stolen from the residence. The damage is estimated at $400.

  • Multiple Warrants (Arrest) – On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 10:55 a.m., Officers Anthony Sarno and Kymberly Gudgeon responded to the 100 block of Chestnut Drive for a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 42-year-old Kenneth W. Vanlenten of Chestnut Street in Forked River on three outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrants. Warrant number one (1) was a no-bail warrant for Theft and warrant number two (2) was also a no-bail warrant for Shoplifting. Warrant number three (3) was issued for Failure to Pay Child Support; and the bail was $7,823.89. Kenneth Vanlenten was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol on Private Property – On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 11:03 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick and Julie Barcalow responded to a Llewellyn Parkway residence in Forked River for a report of a loud party. Upon arrival, the officers located several juveniles consuming alcohol. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of two males for underage consumption of alcohol on private property. The two males were identified as 18-year-old Tycen Stiffler of Lawrence Drive in Lanoka Harbor and 18-year-old Gage Matthews of Lawrence Drive in Lanoka Harbor. They were both charged on a complaint summons and released at the scene pending a court date. In addition, two juveniles were also charged with underage consumption of alcohol on private property. The juveniles included a 16-year-old female from Lanoka Harbor, and a 15-year-old female from Forked River. Both juveniles were released at the scene to guardians. In addition, a 17-year-old female who was hosting the party was charged on a juvenile complaint with providing alcoholic beverages to persons underage.

  • Theft – On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 4:46 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to police headquarters for a report of a theft. The victim reported that between 8:00 p.m. on August 22nd and 8:00 a.m. on August 24th, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole property from the exterior of his home located on the 700 block of Briar Road in Lanoka Harbor, including a patio chair, a 15-foot aluminum ladder, and two lawn rakes. The total theft is estimated at $500.

  • Theft – On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 2:28 p.m., Officer John Cernek responded to the 100 block of Froghollow Road in Forked River for a theft report. The victim reported that between Saturday, August 23rd and Tuesday, August 26th, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole his gas-powered cement mixer that was left in the yard. The valued is estimated at $1,000.

  • Drug Possession and Underage Consumption of Alcohol (Arrest) – The original posting regarding this incident had errors and has since been corrected. On Monday, September 1, 2014, at 10:53 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Noah Schaffer responded to a Carolyn Court residence in Lanoka Harbor for a loud party. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Marcus Gervasini of Leanne Court in Forked River for Possession of Marijuana and Obstructing the Administration of Law. In addition, he was charged with Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages on Private Property. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving a criminal summons. Complaints against additional persons are forthcoming for Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages on Private Property and Making Alcoholic Beverages Available to Underage Persons.

  • Drug Possession and Drug Paraphernalia (Arrest) – on Monday, September 1, 2014, at 9:48 p.m., Officers George Resetar and Andrew Slota were on a directed enforcement detail patrolling parking lots when they observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Retro Fitness, located on Route 9 South in Forked River, which was closed at the time. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest 23-year-old Sean Scalise of Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sean Scalise was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He also received motor vehicle summonses for Possessing CDS in a Motor Vehicle and for being an Unlicensed Driver.
