Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Police Department – August 19th through August 24th, 2016
- Motor Vehicle Accident and Assault by Auto Arrest- On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 6:42 p.m., Sergeant Dimitri Tsarnas and Officer George Resetar responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lacey Rd and Harrison Avenue in Forked River. One of the involved drivers, identified as 22-year-old Michael Pillarella of Sextant Drive in Manahawkin, NJ, fled the scene on foot but was located a short time later. An investigation determined his license to drive was suspended. Michael Pillarella was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons for Assault by Auto. In addition he received traffic summonses for Driving While Suspended, Reckless Driving, Following to Closely, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries, Failure to Report an Accident, and Uninsured Motorist. The vehicle he was operating was impounded.
- DUI Arrest – On Monday, August 22, 2016, at 10:07 p.m., Officers Jason Lee and Julie Barcalow responded to the intersection of Route 9 North and Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River, for a report of a possible disabled vehicle involving an intoxicated driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 29-year-old Jamie L. Appleby of Eberlin Drive in Fairlawn, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, DUI with Minors in the Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Exhibit Documents. The vehicle Jamie Appleby was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Theft and Drug Arrest – On Monday, August 22, 2016, at 10:03 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that her wedding ring, valued at $25,000, was stolen from her residence on Wainwright Street in Forked River in early August 2016. An investigation revealed that 46-year-old Frederick Creutz of Steuben Avenue in Forked River, stole the ring and pawned it in a neighboring jurisdiction. Officers responded to the 400 block of Steuben Avenue in Forked River and arrested Frederick Creutz for the theft of the ring. In addition, he was found to be in possession of CDS. Frederick Creutz was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving criminal summonses for Theft, Possession of CDS (Heroin), Possession of Marijuana 50 grams or less, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Drug Arrest – On Monday, August 22, 2016, at 7:26 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno observed drug activity in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven, located at 926 Lacey Road in Forked River. A vehicle involved left the scene and was stopped by Officer Sarno on West Lacey Road near Argos Farm. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Christopher M. Graham, of Lafayette Drive in Whiting, NJ, for Possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Christopher Graham was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. In addition, he received traffic summonses for Speeding and CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 12:46 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 9 South and Taylor Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 44-year-old Jennifer L. Caruso of Center Street in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Jennifer Caruso was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 12:30 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 South near the intersection of Beach Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 54-year-old Edward G. Vetrecin of Sloop Road in Manahawkin, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Edward Vetrecin was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 10:38 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe was patrolling the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, when he was approached by an intoxicated male. The male, identified as 51-year-old John M. Clancy of Hemlock Drive in Lanoka Harbor, was arrested on an outstanding Atlantic City Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350.00. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released.
- Structure Fire (Residence) – On Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 11:18 a.m., Officers Daniel Ricciardella and John D. Simonson responded to the 1000 block of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, for the report of a house fire. Upon the officers’ arrival, smoke was observed coming from the garage. Prior to arrival the occupants had already evacuated the residence. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire which was contained to the garage portion of the residence. Lacey Township Police Detective Robert Surtees and the Ocean County Fire Marshal responded and took over the investigation. There were no reported injuries.
- Theft Arrest (Business) – On Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 5:24 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 7-Eleven store located at 524 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of an employee committing theft. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Kristen E. Rheinhold of Drew Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for theft of cash in excess of $400.00. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kristen Rheinhold was released after receiving a criminal summons for theft.
- Drug Arrest and Receiving Stolen Property – On Friday, August 19, 2016, at 6:15 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the McDonalds located at 404 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim stated that his bicycle, a red and black Schwinn Mountain Bike valued at $300.00, was taken from outside the McDonalds. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the victim contacted headquarters and reported that the bicycle was observed at the New Jersey Transit Bus Stop located on Route 9 and Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. Officers Anthony Sarno and Michael Verwey responded to the bus stop. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 32-year-old Fred F. Schnorrbusch, Jr., of Newark Avenue in Forked River, for Receiving Stolen Property. The officers also spoke with his friend, identified as 30-year-old Crystal M. Algor of Saratoga Lake Drive in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. An investigation led to her arrest for Possession of CDS. Fred Schnorrbusch and Crystal Algor were transported to police headquarters and processed. Fred Schnorrbusch was released after receiving a criminal summons for Receiving Stolen Property (Bicycle). Crystal Algor was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Heroin, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
