MVA & DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 5:33 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the intersection of Lacey Road and Manchester Avenue in Forked River for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation at the scene indicated that a vehicle was traveling south on Manchester Avenue and struck a vehicle that was stopped, pushing that vehicle into another stopped vehicle. Further investigation led to the arrest of 33-year-old Michael Meyer of Brightwood Drive in Forked River, NJ for DUI. Michael Meyer was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Burglary & Theft – On Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 1:15 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to a Longwood Drive residence in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River for a report of burglary. The victim reported that between 10:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered his home and stole $22,700 worth of his property. The property was reported to include seven gold religious chalice cups, each valued at $1,000; three blue ceramic chalice cups, each valued at $200; a gold cross with six green emerald stones, valued at $6,000; a 5” gold “Jesus” cross valued at $5,000; and a gold chalice “Ciborium” cup valued at $1,500. No signs of forced entry were located.

Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 10:46 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas was on patrol when he observed 28-year-old Glenn Jones Jr. of Stephanie Court in Forked River, NJ in the parking lot of Wawa, 444 Route 9 South in Forked River. Officer Tsarnas was aware that Glenn Jones Jr. had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Glenn Jones Jr. was placed under arrest on a Woodland Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $1,168 and was found to be in the possession of a hypodermic syringe. Glenn Jones Jr. was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.

DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 12:31 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 9 near Sunrise Boulevard. Officer Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop on Sunrise Boulevard near the intersection of Hemlock Lane. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old David Fazio of Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River for DUI. David Fazio was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle driven by David Fazio was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, & Obstructing (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 12:31 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno and Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas were in the performance of making an arrest of David Fazio for DUI (listed above), when a passenger in the vehicle, 29-year-old Nina Duvigneau of 1232 7th Avenue in Toms River, NJ entered the back of a patrol vehicle with David Fazio who was under arrest for DUI. Nina Duvigneau refused to get out of the police vehicle and had to be physically removed. Nina Duvigneau physically assaulted the officers and continued to resist after being informed that she was under arrest for obstructing. Nina Duvigneau purposely caused injury to Officer Anthony Sarno by forcefully gouging his right forearm with her fingernails. Nina Duvigneau was placed under arrest and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged. Nina Duvigneau was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing the Administration of Law.

Fire – On Friday, June 10, 2016, at 9:30 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to a Brentwood Road residence in the Cranberry Hill section of the Township for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, the homeowner was actively extinguishing the fire with a garden hose. The Forked River Fire Department responded and ensured the fire was extinguished. Investigation at the scene revealed that the fire started in a garbage can outside the garage of the residence; the fire then spread, partially burning the exterior of garage. The initial investigation indicates the fire was a result of cigarette that was disposed of in the garbage can. A member of the Ocean County Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.

DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, June 10, 2016, at 10:46 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey was on patrol when he observed a gray Honda Accord failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 9 near Sunrise Boulevard. Officer Verwey conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle on Route 9 near the intersection of First Street. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 39-year-old Ian M. Fraser of Boulevard East in Weehawkin, NJ, for DUI. Ian Fraser was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle Ian Fraser was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

MVA – On Friday, June 10, 2016, at 9:09 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy along with several other officers responded to the area of Lacey Road near Newark Avenue for a report of a motor accident with injuries and damage to a utility pole. Investigation at the scene indicated that a 19-year-old female of Forked River, NJ, was making a left turn onto Lacey Road from J.T. Bagels located on the north side of Lacey Road. Upon pulling out into the roadway, she collided with a vehicle that was traveling west on Lacey Road causing that vehicle to strike a utility pole. Two of the occupants of the vehicle that struck the utility pole were transported to Community Medical Center via ambulance and another passenger of that vehicle was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center by helicopter as a result of a head injury. The 19-year-old female was also transported to Community Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. She was issued a summons for careless driving. That portion of Lacey Road was shut down for several hours while the utility pole was repaired.

Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 8:22 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Nautilus Boulevard as a result of the registered owner having an active arrest warrant. Officer Lee confirmed that the driver was the registered owner of the vehicle and arrested 47-year-old Anthony P. Talmo of Virgin Island Drive in Toms River, NJ on an outstanding Greenbrook Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Anthony Talmo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, June 09, 2016, at 9:51 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The Asset Protection Employee reported that he observed a female subject remove store merchandise from their displays and place them in her purse. The female then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Miranda L. Krupa of Starboard Court in Bayville, NJ for Shoplifting $36.73 worth of merchandise. Miranda Krupa was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with Shoplifting.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 9:14 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler responded to CVS, 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The store manager reported that a female subject had entered the store and picked up a prescription from the pharmacy which was placed in a white plastic CVS shopping bag. The female subject then began browsing throughout the store and was reportedly seen putting store merchandise into the plastic shopping bag. The female then reportedly left the store without paying for the merchandise. The female was gone prior to the arrival of Officer Meyler. Officer Meyler conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of 44-year-old Tochitta D. Boone of Maple Street in Waretown, NJ, for shoplifting. Tochita Boone responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with Shoplifting.

Warrant Arrests – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 11:27 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to a Hazelton Avenue residence for a report of a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Alyssa M. Everett of 1528 Arient Road in Forked River, NJ, on two outstanding Trenton Municipal Court warrants in the total bail amount of $2,500. Alyssa Everett was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on her own recognizance by the authority of the Trenton Municipal Court Clerk. Michael Araneo 2nd was later arrested at Lacey Township Police Headquarters on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. Michael Araneo 2nd was processed and released after posting bail.

Criminal Mischief (Township Property) – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Darrel Nick responded to Clune Park, 740 Sandyhook Drive in the Forked River Beach section of the township, for a report of Criminal Mischief. A Lacey Little League coach reported that upon arriving at the baseball field, he observed two large holes in the interior cement wall of a dugout. The coach reported that the damage is believed to have occurred between 10:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. The damage is estimated at $200.

Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., Special Officer Stephen DeRosa was on patrol when he observed a driver operating her vehicle while using a cell phone. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 23-year-old Michel Ramirez of Cedarhurst Road in Brick, NJ, on an outstanding Freehold Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250. Michel Ramirez was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released after posting bail.

Theft – On Monday, June 6, 2016, at 10:32 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the Lacey Township Public Library for a report of theft. The victim reported that between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole $264 in cash from her locker in the employee locker room at the library. The money was inside her zippered, multi-colored wallet in her purse. The victim noticed that items in her locker had been moved but did not realize that the money had been stolen until the next day. The locker was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Warrant Arrest – On Monday, June 6, 2016, at 9:16 a.m., Officer Michael Hein conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle on Lacey Road near the intersection of Route 9. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Lianne Crincoli of Greenwood Lane in Forked River on two outstanding Bass River Township Municipal Court warrants: one in the amount of $295 and the other in the amount of $392. Lianne Crincoli was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released after posting bail. Lianne Crincoli was also issued summonses for Driving While Suspended and Speeding.

Injured Bicyclist – On Sunday, June 5, 2016, at 12:11 a.m., Officer Elton Copes and Officer George Resetar responded to the intersection of Sommerell Avenue and Joffre Street in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River in reference to a report of an injured bicyclist. The caller reported that she observed a bicyclist lying face down on the ground next to his bicycle. Upon arrival, officers observed that the bicyclist had suffered trauma to his head. The patient, a 25-year Forked River resident, was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries. Investigation at the scene indicated that the bicyclist had fallen off of his bicycle as a result of impairment.

Theft from a Vehicle – On Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 12:00 p.m., Officer Michael Eden responded to Chelsea Street in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River for a report of theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that between 10:00 p.m. on June 1, 2016 and 11:30 a.m. on June 4, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered her 2016 Mazda and stole a Phillips brand, 9 inch flat screen, portable DVD player valued at $100 and a copy of the movie “Frozen,” which was inside the DVD player. The movie is valued at $25. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Burglary – On Friday, June 3, 2016, at 6:33 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to a North Point Court residence in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a burglary. The victim reported that she had not been living at the residence for several months and upon returning home she discovered that someone had entered her residence and stole her property. The victim reported that a Sharp (black) 47″ television with blue ray and assorted US coins had been stolen. The television is valued at $1,300 and the coins are valued at $200. No signs of forced entry were located but a window was found to be unsecured.

Crime Alert (Burglary Arrests) – On Saturday, May 28, 2016, Detective Brian Flynn of the Lacey Township Police Department, in a cooperative investigation with Dsg. Rogalski and Det. Risden of the Ocean Township Police Department, has charged 31-year old Lawrence W. Mann and 36-year-old Shiabon Poff (female), both of 49 Willow Street in Waretown, with Burglary and Theft. The detectives from both agencies executed a search warrant at 49 Willow Street in Waretown on Saturday morning, May 28, 2016, which yielded evidence leading to the arrest of Lawrence W. Mann and Shiabon Poff. The charges out of Lacey Township are from a Tuesday, May 24, 2016, home burglary which occurred at a Tampa Road residence in the Forked River Beach section of Lacey Township during the late evening hours. The homeowner reported that he believed the burglar(s) entered his residence through an unlocked rear window leading into the living room of his home. The items stolen included a Spanish Provincial Sterling Silver flatware set valued at $2,000, two laptop computers, and jewelry. The investigation revealed that, following the burglary, the flatware set was sold on Craigslist to a man from Toms River who subsequently listed the set on EBay. The investigation also revealed that the subjects were utilizing a blue, Ford F150, stepside pickup truck during the different burglaries in each town. Both Lawrence W. Mann and Shiabon Poff were arrested for the burglary and theft charges out of Lacey Township as well as similar offenses committed in Waretown. Lawrence W. Mann was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $20,000 on the Lacey Township charges. The burglaries were solved so quickly in both towns due to the exceptional work by Detective Risden and Dsg. Rogalski of the Ocean Township Police Department and Detective Brian Flynn of the Lacey Township Police Department who worked cooperatively to quickly solve the cases. Timely arrests, such as in this case, have been a major contributing factor in the drastic reduction of home burglaries being committed in Lacey Township to the lowest levels in over 30 years. Excellent commitment and work by all involved.

Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 9:11 a.m. Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the office of the Pegasus Title Company, 639 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. A caller reported observing a broken window in the rear of the office building. Investigation at the scene indicated that a 2’ x 3’ casement window had been smashed. Evidence at the scene indicated that no one had entered the building through the broken window. The damage to the window is estimated at $300. The owner of the business and the owner of the building were notified.

Shoplifting & Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 10:45 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The Asset Protection Associate reported that he observed a female remove various store merchandise from their displays in the store and then place them inside her purse. The female then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 29-year-old Randi Carroll of Sextant Drive in Barnegat, NJ for shoplifting $79.97 worth of merchandise as well as a no-bail Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department warrant. Randi Carroll was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and then transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await the arrival of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Friday, May 27, 2016, at 5:03 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to Shop Rite in reference to a report of shoplifting. A Loss Prevention employee reported that she observed a male subject in one of the food aisles of the store putting store merchandise in Shop Rite bags that he had with him. The male subject then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 47-year-old John C. Zusack of Spruce Street in Beachwood, NJ for shoplifting $204.19 worth of merchandise. John Zusack was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Shoplifting.

Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 9:27 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to a Nantucket Road residence in Forked River for a report of a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 53-year-old Reka I. Ash of Glen Oak Drive in Forked River, NJ, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250. Reka Ash was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. Reka Ash was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, May 26, at 3:03 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The Asset Protection Associates reported that they observed two juvenile females remove several pieces of merchandise from their displays in the store and then concealed those items in their purses. The females then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. The two juveniles were taken into custody by the Lacey Township Police and then transported to police headquarters where they were turned over to the custody of their parents. One juvenile was charged on a juvenile complaint for shoplifting $25.54 worth of merchandise and the other juvenile was charged on a juvenile complaint for shoplifting $16.82 worth of merchandise.

Theft – On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 4:57 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to Ocean Beach Marina, 700 Barramore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, for a report of theft. An employee reported that he observed a newer model, white sedan with the trunk and side door open. The employee reported that as he drove up to the vehicle, the driver got into the vehicle and left towards Bay Way. He stated that he went into the woods to investigate and observed an unidentified white male flee through the woods towards Drew Avenue. The employee reported that he observed several stolen items believed to have been left by the subject in the woods, which included a gray plastic Dock Cart, approximately twenty-feet of stainless steel boat railing in a plastic five-gallon bucket, and two Diehard marine batteries. The matter is currently under investigation. The value of the stolen items is estimated at $300.

Warrant Arrest & Heroin Possession (Arrest) – On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 7:54 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey and Officer Scott Keefe responded to a Laurel Boulevard residence in Lanoka Harbor on an unrelated call-for-service when the officers discovered a no-bail Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant for a resident of the home, 21-year-old Alexandro G. Tsarnas. When officers informed him of the warrant, Alexandro Tsarnas resisted arrest but was quickly brought under control by the officers. A search incident to the arrest led to the discovery of Heroin in the possession of Alexandro Tsarnas. Alexandro Tsarnas was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Resisting Arrest and Possession of Heroin. Alexandro Tsarnas was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility on the no-bail warrant.

Theft – On Tuesday, May 24, at 1:46 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to a Hoyt Street residence in Forked River, NJ for a report of theft. The victim, an employee of MS Electric Contractor, Inc, reported that between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on May 23, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole a generator from a house under construction. The generator was left outside on the east side of the residence at the time of the theft. The generator is described as a Red, Honda IC 3000 generator with a surge protector tied to the handle. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $2,000.

DUI/Simple Assault/Resisting Arrest (Arrest) – On Monday, May 23, 2016, at 10:16 a.m. Officer John Simonson responded to Lacey Liquors, 349 Route 9 North in Forked River, for a report of an intoxicated male who parked his vehicle on the grass median of the parking lot. As officers were responding, the intoxicated male was reported to have become aggressive towards a concerned citizen, eventually biting the citizen on the arm. When Officer Simonson arrived on the scene, the suspect, 26-year-old Patrick Anthony Craig of Prince Drive in Coplay, Pennsylvania, fled from Officer Simonson, after being advised he was under arrest. Officer Simonson was able to catch the suspect and take him into physical custody. Patrick Anthony Craig was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. Patrick Anthony Craig was charged with Resisting Arrest, Simple Assault, DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. Bail was set at $25,000 on the criminal charges. Patrick Anthony Craig was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Warrant Arrest – On Monday, May 23, 2016, at 8:21 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Manchester Avenue and Lacey Road. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 43-year-old Frank Fellanto Jr. of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River, NJ, on an outstanding South Toms River Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350. Frank Fellanto was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released ROR under the authority of the South Toms River Municipal Court Clerk.

Theft – On Sunday, May 22, 2016, at 5:27 p.m., Officer Elton Copes responded to a Wellesley Road residence in the Oakfield section of Lanoka Harbor for a report of theft. The victim reported that between May 12, 2016 and May 21, 2016 some person or persons stole a Redmax gas-powered backpack blower valued at $525.

Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 12:39 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 South in the area of Lakeside Drive South. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 35-year-old Robert A. Britton of Briar Mills Lane in Brick, NJ on a Toms River Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $730 and two outstanding Neptune Township Municipal Court Warrants totaling $800. Robert Britton was transported to Lacey Township Police Department where he was processed and then turned over to the custody of the Toms River Township Police.

Warrant Arrest & Possession of Heroin – On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 9:29 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was on patrol in the area of Bay Way in the Lanoka Harbor section of the township when he conducted a motor vehicle stop on Clairmore Avenue near the intersection of Seagull Avenue. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Kristalyn Steadman of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, NJ on an outstanding Mercer County Sheriff’s Department no-bail warrant and two Manchester Township Municipal Court warrants in the amounts of $500 and $250. Kristalyn Steadman was also found to be in possession of Heroin, a hypodermic syringe, and drug paraphernalia. Kristalyn Steadman was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail was set at $2,500. Kristalyn Steadman was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 5:54 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the area of Drexel Road and Cambridge Road in the Oakfield section of Lanoka Harbor for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon approaching the vehicle and speaking with the occupants, Officer Sarno observed a bag of Marijuana. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 20-year-old Timothy Odom of Drexel Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, NJ for possession of Marijuana. Timothy Odom was transported to the Lacey Township Police Department where he was processed and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Criminal Mischief – On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 6:51 a.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to a Lakeside Drive North residence in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The homeowner reported that between 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 and 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, an unknown person or persons damaged his mailbox. Investigation at the scene indicated that a vehicle left the roadway and entered the front yard of property prior to colliding with the mailbox. The damage to the mailbox is estimated at $150.

Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at 3:03 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The loss prevention employee reported that a female finished shopping in the store and brought the merchandise she selected to a self-checkout register. The loss prevention employee reported that the female failed to scan multiple items and put them in a shopping bag. The female then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 44-year-old Maryam Afsharym of Lakeside Drive South in Forked River, NJ for Shoplifting. Maryam Afsharym was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with shoplifting $38.64 worth of store merchandise.
