  • Motor Vehicle Accident and Assault by Auto Arrest- On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 6:42 p.m., Sergeant Dimitri Tsarnas and Officer George Resetar responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lacey Rd and Harrison Avenue in Forked River. One of the involved drivers, identified as 22-year-old Michael Pillarella of Sextant Drive in Manahawkin, NJ, fled the scene on foot but was located a short time later. An investigation determined his license to drive was suspended. Michael Pillarella was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons for Assault by Auto. In addition he received traffic summonses for Driving While Suspended, Reckless Driving, Following to Closely, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries, Failure to Report an Accident, and Uninsured Motorist. The vehicle he was operating was impounded.
  • DUI Arrest – On Monday, August 22, 2016, at 10:07 p.m., Officers Jason Lee and Julie Barcalow responded to the intersection of Route 9 North and Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River, for a report of a possible disabled vehicle involving an intoxicated driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 29-year-old Jamie L. Appleby of Eberlin Drive in Fairlawn, NJ, for DUI.  She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, DUI with Minors in the Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Exhibit Documents. The vehicle Jamie Appleby was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Theft and Drug Arrest – On Monday, August 22, 2016, at 10:03 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to police headquarters for a theft report. The victim reported that her wedding ring, valued at $25,000, was stolen from her residence on Wainwright Street in Forked River in early August 2016. An investigation revealed that 46-year-old Frederick Creutz of Steuben Avenue in Forked River, stole the ring and pawned it in a neighboring jurisdiction. Officers responded to the 400 block of Steuben Avenue in Forked River and arrested Frederick Creutz for the theft of the ring. In addition, he was found to be in possession of CDS. Frederick Creutz was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving criminal summonses for Theft, Possession of CDS (Heroin), Possession of Marijuana 50 grams or less, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Drug Arrest – On Monday, August 22, 2016, at 7:26 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno observed drug activity in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven, located at 926 Lacey Road in Forked River. A vehicle involved left the scene and was stopped by Officer Sarno on West Lacey Road near Argos Farm. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Christopher M. Graham, of Lafayette Drive in Whiting, NJ, for Possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Christopher Graham was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. In addition, he received traffic summonses for Speeding and CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
  • DUI Arrest – On Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 12:46 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 9 South and Taylor Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 44-year-old Jennifer L. Caruso of Center Street in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Jennifer Caruso was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • DUI Arrest – On Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 12:30 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 South near the intersection of Beach Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 54-year-old Edward G. Vetrecin of Sloop Road in Manahawkin, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Edward Vetrecin was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 10:38 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe was patrolling the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, when he was approached by an intoxicated male. The male, identified as 51-year-old John M. Clancy of Hemlock Drive in Lanoka Harbor, was arrested on an outstanding Atlantic City Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350.00. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released.
  • Structure Fire (Residence) – On Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 11:18 a.m., Officers Daniel Ricciardella and John D. Simonson responded to the 1000 block of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, for the report of a house fire. Upon the officers’ arrival, smoke was observed coming from the garage. Prior to arrival the occupants had already evacuated the residence. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire which was contained to the garage portion of the residence. Lacey Township Police Detective Robert Surtees and the Ocean County Fire Marshal responded and took over the investigation. There were no reported injuries.
  • Theft Arrest (Business) – On Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 5:24 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 7-Eleven store located at 524 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of an employee committing theft. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Kristen E. Rheinhold of Drew Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for theft of cash in excess of $400.00. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kristen Rheinhold was released after receiving a criminal summons for theft.
  • Drug Arrest and Receiving Stolen Property – On Friday, August 19, 2016, at 6:15 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the McDonalds located at 404 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim stated that his bicycle, a red and black Schwinn Mountain Bike valued at $300.00, was taken from outside the McDonalds. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the victim contacted headquarters and reported that the bicycle was observed at the New Jersey Transit Bus Stop located on Route 9 and Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. Officers Anthony Sarno and Michael Verwey responded to the bus stop. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 32-year-old Fred F. Schnorrbusch, Jr., of Newark Avenue in Forked River, for Receiving Stolen Property. The officers also spoke with his friend, identified as 30-year-old Crystal M. Algor of Saratoga Lake Drive in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. An investigation led to her arrest for Possession of CDS. Fred Schnorrbusch and Crystal Algor were transported to police headquarters and processed. Fred Schnorrbusch was released after receiving a criminal summons for Receiving Stolen Property (Bicycle). Crystal Algor was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Heroin, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    • Theft – On Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 7:21 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 600 block of Fairview Lane in Forked River, for a theft report. The complainant reported that between August 9, 2016 and August 10, 2016, his Red Max backpack leaf blower and his 7.5 HP Honda power-washer were stolen from his shed in the backyard. The total theft is estimated at $1200.00. The incident is under investigation.
    • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 6:16 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 53-year-old Dominic Lucci of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $533.00. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Dominic Lucci was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
    • Criminal Mischief (Construction Vehicle) – On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at 2:59 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to 800 Route 9 South in Forked River for damage to a construction vehicle. The complainant reported that between August 11, 2016, and August 17, 2016, an unknown person or persons broke several windows on one of their Caterpillar bulldozers. The damage is estimated at $1200.00.
    • Criminal Mischief (Township Property) – On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at 9:33 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the Lanoka Harbor Elementary School, located at 281 Manchester Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a criminal mischief report. The school employee reported that between 10:00 p.m. on August 16, 2016, and 8:00 a.m., on August 17, 2016, an unknown person or persons gained access to the roof of the school and shattered three solar panels. The damage is estimated at $1800.00. The incident is under investigation.
    • DUI and Drug Arrest – On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 4:10 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to a report of an aggressive driver traveling north on Route 9 near the border of Ocean Township (Waretown). A description of the vehicle was provided. The caller followed the vehicle to a residence on Rowe Street in Lanoka Harbor. Officer Ricciardella responded to the residence. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver identified as 70-year-old Mary E. Lobdell of Rowe Street in Lanoka Harbor for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and CDS in a Motor Vehicle. In addition she received a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The vehicle Mary E. Lobdell was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
    • DUI with Accident (Arrest) – On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 4:00 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the intersection of Lacey Road and Wilbert Avenue in Forked River for a traffic accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of driver number one (1), identified as 23-year-old Vincent Boardingham of Lakeside Drive North in Forked River, for DUI. Driver number two (2) sustained a minor chest injury, however, chose not to be transported to the hospital. Vincent Boardingham was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Driving with a Suspended License, and Failure to Stop. In addition, Vincent Boardingham received a criminal summons for Assault by Auto.
    • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 12:02 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick and Brian Holt responded to the Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious female. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 23-year-old Brittney L. Gartner of Spark Drive East in Brick, NJ, on an outstanding Berkeley Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $750.00 bail. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was released ROR by the Berkeley Township Municipal Court. In addition she received a criminal summons for being Under the Influence of CDS.
    • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 11:29 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to a motor vehicle accident located on Route 9 and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. While investigating the accident, the driver of one of the involved vehicles, identified as 48-year-old Denise S. Breschard, of West 5th Street in Howell, NJ, was arrested on two outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Wall Township Municipal Court in the amount of $104.00, and warrant number two (2) was issued from the Freehold Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1000.00. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Denise Breschard received traffic summonses for Driving with a Suspended License, Careless Driving, and Failure to Report Change of Address. She was turned over to the custody of the Freehold Township Police Department.
    • DUI Arrest – On Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 1:47 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway on Lacey Road near the southbound entrance to the Garden State Parkway in Forked River. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Sarno observed the driver was passed out behind the wheel. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 33-year-old Joseph G. Grogan, Jr., of Saratoga Drive in Manalapan, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Joseph Grogan received traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, Creating the Risk of an Accident, and Obstructing the Passage of Motor Vehicles. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
    • Eluding, Obstructing, and Trespassing Arrests – On Saturday, August 13, 2016, Lieutenant Paul Sullivan, Jr., and Detective Michael Eden coordinated an additional Off-Road Multi-Jurisdictional Woods Enforcement Detail. The present detail consisted of officers from the Lacey Township Police Department, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Jersey State Police. At approximately 10:00 p.m. the task force was patrolling the area of Lacey Materials located at 5001 W. Lacey Road in Forked River, when they made contact with an individual trespassing on private property. The subject was operating a Quad on a road leading to the Tuckerton Railroad bed.  While issuing the subject a summons,  the task force officers were approached by an older model dark green Jeep Cherokee occupied by several males. Several Officers were positioned approximately 50 feet from the Officers issuing the summons to the above Quad Operator.  As the Jeep approached it slowed and drove around the first set of task force officers and then stopped when they realized their way was blocked due to the enforcement action. Officers approached the Jeep and identified themselves as Police Officers. The driver abruptly put the Jeep in reverse and backed up at a high rate of speed ultimately striking an Ocean County Sherriff’s Officer operating a quad. The driver fled into the open area of Lacey Materials.  A perimeter was established and a short time later task force officers located the Jeep in a wooded area, approximately a quarter of a mile east from the initial incident.  The task force members located five individuals, including the driver, and placed them all under arrest. The five individuals were transported to Lacey Police Headquarters and processed. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Benjamin Sabo of Pinecrest Drive in Medford, NJ was charged with Eluding, Obstructing the Administration of Law, and Trespassing, with bail set in the amount of $50,000.00 with no 10 percent.  In addition, he received several motor vehicle summonses including Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Accident, and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. He was lodged in Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.  In addition, 18-year-old Karl Werosta of Atsion Road in Medford, NJ, 19-year-old Nicholas Glaesman of Pequot Trail in Medford, NJ, and 24-year-old Maxwell Burt of East Lake Boulevard in Medford, NJ, were all charged on a complaint summons with Trespassing and released. The fifth individual was identified as a 17-year-old juvenile male from Medford, NJ.  He was charged on a juvenile complaint with Trespassing and released to the custody of a family member. The Sheriff’s Officer that was struck did not sustain serious injury. The Jeep that Benjamin Sabo was operating was impounded. The incident is under investigation and additional charges are pending.
    • DUI Arrest – On Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 5:53 p.m., Officers Daniel Ricciardella and Michael Verwey responded to the Shell Station located at 926 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of a suspicious male subject asking patrons for gas money. It was further reported that the suspicious male drove there in a black vehicle that appeared to have fresh damage. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 31-year-old Gabriel A. Mercadel of Highview Drive in Woodbridge, NJ for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Gabriel Mercadel was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
    • Trespassing Arrests – On Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 3:05 a.m., Officers Michael Verwey, Anthony Sarno, and Jason Lee responded to the Trestle, located at 5000 Cedar Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of people jumping into the creek from the bridge. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Michael J. Cannito of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River; 30-year-old Faith L. Atcosta of Shady Brook Lane in Forked River; and 26-year-old Karalyn P. Smith of 5th Avenue in Toms River, NJ for Defiant Trespassing. They were transported to police headquarters and released. Each received a summons for trespassing.
    • Criminal Attempt Burglary and Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Friday, August 12, 2016, at 6:52 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the 1300 block of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor for damage to a residence. The complainant reported that between 3:00 p.m. on July 30, 2016, and 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2016, an unknown person or persons attempted to force entry into his residence. Several window screens were cut and pry marks were located on the windows. It does not appear entry was gained to the residence and nothing within appears to be missing. The damage is estimated at $500.00.
    • Theft and Trespassing – On Friday, August 12, 2016, at 3:45 p.m., Officers Evan Androcy and Brian Holt responded to the Trestle located at 5000 Cedar Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a male subject threatening numerous people with a crow bar. In addition, it was reported that the male subject stole a bicycle from the scene, placed it in the rear of his pickup truck, and fled the scene. A description of the pickup truck was provided along with the license plate. The license plate provided an address in Ocean Township (Waretown), NJ. The Ocean Township (Waretown) Police Department were notified and located the pickup truck on Spruce Street in Waretown. Officers Androcy and Holt responded to the residence and arrested the male subject identified as 24-year-old Myles E. O’Grady of Spruce Street in Waretown. He was released after receiving a Criminal Summons for Defiant Trespassing and Theft of the bicycle. The bicycle was recovered and returned to its owner. The incident is under investigation and additional charges are pending.

  • Criminal Mischief School Property – On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 2:47 p.m., Officer Michael Eden responded to the Lacey Township High School located at 73 Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor for a report of criminal mischief. The Lacey Township High School Principal, Gregory Brandis, reported that during the evening hours of August 9, 2016 an older model pickup truck, possibly a Ford pickup truck, with no bed on the back, damaged several custom painted parking stalls located in the Lacey High School parking lot. The vehicle in question spun its tires across approximately 20 of the custom painted parking stalls damaging the fresh paint and causing criminal mischief in the amount of $2500.00. The murals in the parking stalls were completed by students as a fundraising effort.   • DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 3:08 a.m., Sergeant Ronald Buxton, along with Officers Elton Copes and John McKee responded to the White Castle, located at 245 Route 9 North in Forked River, for a report of a suspicious vehicle.  Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 19-year-old Luke Schiebler of Frost Drive in Bayville, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Luke Schiebler was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 4:08 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the Home Depot, located at 244 Route 9 North in Forked River, for a report of a suspicious male who appeared intoxicated. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 38-year-old Charles J. Desanguine of Sanibel Lane in Barnegat, NJ, on two outstanding Totowa Township Municipal Court warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued in the amount of $1500.00 with no ten percent, and warrant number two (2) was issued in the amount of $100.00. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Charles Desanguine was released ROR pending a new court date.
  • Drug Arrest – On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, ay 3:01 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the Lacey Mall parking lot, located at 348 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a suspicious vehicle. Detective Robert Surtees also responded. Investigation at the scene led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia, including, but not limited to empty wax-folds, inside the vehicle.  The driver, identified as 22-year-old Keriann E. Kirchgessner of Cable Avenue in Beachwood, NJ,  was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Keriann Kirchgessner was released after receiving a criminal summons for the above violation. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
  • Drug and Warrant Arrest – On Monday, August 8, 2016, at 4:33 a.m., Officers Elton Copes and Andrew Slota responded to Beach Boulevard near Biscayne Drive in Forked River for a report of an intoxicated male staggering in the roadway. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Shawn M. Wrazen, of Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor on several outstanding warrants, including a Seaside Heights Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500.00, a Jackson Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $150.00, and a Robbinsville Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $1,000.00. Additionally, Shawn Wrazen was found to be in possession of Suboxone and a hypodermic syringe. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Shawn Wrazen was charged with Possession of CDS and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe with bail set in the amount of $2,500.00 with no 10 percent option. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • Drug Arrest – On Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 6:54 p.m., Officers John McKee and Charles May responded to the CVS Pharmacy located at 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot involving a Jeep Cherokee. Upon arrival the officers located the vehicle and began an investigation. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 22-year-old Michael R. Dauphin of Hollywood Drive in Forked River, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (wax-folds). In addition, he was found to be in possession of CDS, and a hypodermic syringe. Michael Dauphin was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of 50 Grams or Less of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Additionally, he received a motor vehicle summons for CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
  • Shoplifting and Drug Arrest – On Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 12:04 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of two shoplifters. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of two female juveniles from Forked River, a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old, for shoplifting.  The 17-year-old female was charged on a juvenile complaint with Shoplifting merchandise valued at $53.83, Possession of Marijuana 50 grams or Less, and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. She was released to the custody of a family member. The 14-year-old female was charged with Shoplifting merchandise valued at $31.33 and was also released to the custody of a relative.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, August 5, 2016, at 8:35 p.m., Special Officer Edgar Lenkauskas was on patrol when he observed a suspicious male walking on Parker Avenue near Station Drive in Forked River. An investigation at the scene revealed that the male, identified as 24-year-old Frederick J. Vona of Wood Avenue in Forked River, had an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $2500.00 with no 10 percent option. Frederick Vona was arrested and transported to Police Headquarters. He was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • DUI Arrest – On Friday, August 5, 2016, at 7:23 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Lacey Road near Horner Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 62-year-old Raymond Lapinski, Jr., of Capstan Drive in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Raymond Lapinski, Jr., was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Theft – On Friday, August 5, 2016, at 7:57 a.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to the 500 block of Devon Street in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole his black-framed “Genesis V2100” mountain bike with blue lettering and red brake calipers from his front yard. The bicycle is valued at $150.00.
  • Theft (Residence)– On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 8:40 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to 100 block of Captain Giglio Way in Forked River, for a report of theft from a residence. The victim reported that between 12:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on August 4, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole his prescription medication. The victim reported that when he went to take his prescribed medication, Oxycodone 5mg, he noticed that the four remaining pills were missing and they had been replaced with four different pills believed to be a sinus/allergy type medication. The complainant stated that he had hired a cleaning service that was at the residence during the time of theft. The theft is valued at $50.00.
  • Shoplifting Arrest – On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 5:56 p.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to the Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a female shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 39-year-old Angela A. Rossi of Hazelton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $305.57. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Angela Rossi was released after receiving a criminal summons for Shoplifting.
  • Theft – On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 2:35 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to the 800 block of Arlington Avenue in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole her bicycle that she left in front of the garage. The bicycle is described as a green and white beach-cruiser style bicycle with a pink flower pattern and a cheetah print banner. The bicycle is valued at $500.00.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 2:31 p.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to 800 Route 9 South in Forked River, in the area of Finninger’s Farm, for a report of Criminal Mischief to a vehicle. The complainant reported that his company is performing dredging work in the area, and between Friday, July 29, 2016 and Thursday, August 4, 2016, an unknown person or persons smashed the mirrors and broke off an amber construction light on one of his water trucks. The total damage is estimated at $200.00.

  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 5:35 p.m., Officers George Resetar and Jesse Dalziel responded to the 200 block of Manchester Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a residential burglary. The victim reported that between 2:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., on August 2, 2016, an unknown person or persons forced entry into the residence and stole jewelry in the amount of $3000. Damage to the residence is estimated at $200. Detective Keith Pearce responded to the scene. The incident is under investigation.
  • Theft – On Monday, August 1, 2016, at 2:14 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 500 block of Center Street in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016, and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole two kayaks from a trailer located on the side of their residence. The kayaks were described as 13.5’ Hobie Mirage Paddledrive Ocean Kayaks, one blue and one yellow, valued at $1,599 each. The incident is under investigation.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Monday, August 1, 2016, at 11:33 a.m., Officer Fred Anderson conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Weehawkin Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 22-year-old Adajee V. Myres of Edgewood Drive in Toms River, NJ, on an outstanding Manchester Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $750. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Adajee Myres was released after posting bail.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto/Several) – On Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 6:38 a.m., Officers Michael Hein and Michael Eden responded to a report of a suspicious male in the area of Brookdale Drive and Norwick Drive in Forked River. The complainant reported that the suspicious male was wearing a Halloween mask and looking into parked vehicles. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 23-year-old Jay P. Chirelli of Clubhouse Drive in Forked River, for several car burglaries after he was found to be in possession of stolen property. Jay Chirelli was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with Burglary and Theft of Movable Property with bail set in the amount of $2,500 with no 10 percent. Jay Chirelli was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.  
  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, July 29, 2016, at 10:42 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Dimitri Tsarnas observed two suspicious males entering the Wawa located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of one of the males, identified as 27-year-old Thomas W. Staunton of Lee Way in Forked River, on an outstanding Berkeley Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350. Thomas Staunton was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after his bail was posted.
  • DUI and Drug Arrest – On Friday, July 29, 2016, at 5:23 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the area of Route 9 and Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor for a report of an aggressive driver. The complainant provided a description of the vehicle including the registration. The registration came back to a residence on Oxford Road in Lanoka Harbor. Officer Verwey responded to the residence and located the vehicle and driver. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 39-year-old David Vasil of Oxford Road for Possession of CDS, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. David Vasil was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Suboxone, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition he received traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 7:43 p.m., Sergeant Sam Della Sala and Officer Christopher Meyler responded to the 900 block of Lakeside Drive North in Forked River for a report of a wanted person (warrant). Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Kyle M. Ranghelli of Lakeside Drive in Forked River, on an outstanding Seaside Heights Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $400. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kyle Ranghelli was released after bail was posted.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 1:11 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Taylor Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 35-year-old James W. Shilling of Seabright Road in Forked River, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $668.00. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James Shilling received traffic summonses for Driving with a Suspended License, and a Cell Phone Violation. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 2:27 p.m., Melony S. Gilchrist of Allwood Place in Forked River, responded to police headquarters to pick up her vehicle from her previous DUI arrest, which had occurred earlier in the morning, at 12:15 a.m., on July 27, 2016. While at police headquarters, Melony Gilchrist displayed signs of intoxication. An investigation determined she had driven to police headquarters, and as a result, Officer Darrell Nick conducted a DUI investigation. The investigation resulted in Melony Gilchrist’s arrest for DUI. She was processed at police headquarters and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 7:05 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler responded to the 1200 block of Olds Street in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between the hours of 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2016, and 7:05 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered their vehicle and stole a black dell backpack containing an HP ProBook 640 G1, and a yellow construction vest. The vehicle was parked in the driveway during time the theft occurred. There were no signs of forced entry. The total theft is valued at $702.00.
  • DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 12:15 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Lakeside Drive near the intersection of Holly Place in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 34yearold Melony S. Gilchrist of Allwood Place in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Melony Gilchrist was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • CDS Arrest – On Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 8:47 p.m., Officers Anthony Sarno and Christopher Meyler responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Pheasant Run Clubhouse located at 45 Canterbury Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 46-year-old Steven Bassford of Lancaster Court in Forked River, and his passenger, 38-year-old Tara Connor of Ernest Drive in Lanoka Harbor, for possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. The occupants were found to be in possession of Oxycodone pills, and Suboxone, along with various drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to police headquarters and processed. Steven Bassford was charged criminally with Possession of CDS (Oxycodone) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tara Connor was charged with Possession of CDS (Suboxone) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • CDS Arrest – On Friday, July 22, 2016, at 12:22 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 North in Forked River. Officer Dalziel approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and observed the driver, identified as 29-year-old Scott A. Montefusco of Grand Central Parkway in Bayville, NJ, attempting to conceal an item between the driver’s seat and the center console. Further investigation led to the discovery of two (2) hypodermic syringes, three (3) empty wax folds, and additional drug paraphernalia. Scott Montefusco was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. In addition, Scott Montefusco received motor vehicle summonses for Operating an Unregistered Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License and Fictitious License Plates. His vehicle was impounded. The investigation is continuing and additional narcotics charges are pending.
  • Shoplifting Arrest – On Friday, July 22, 2016 at 8:44 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 52-year-old Joseph Mancz, Jr., of Water Street in Toms River, NJ for shoplifting merchandise valued at $82.72. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Joseph Mancz, Jr., was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
  •  Shoplifting Arrest – On Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 10:23 a.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel and Michael Eden responded to the Home Depot, located at 244 Route 9 in Forked River, for a report of a male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Thomas J. Girone, Jr., of Waters Edge Drive in Tuckerton, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $152.35. In addition, Thomas Girone had an outstanding warrant from the Brick Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1178. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Thomas Girone was charged with shoplifting and his bail was set in the amount of $1,500 with no 10 percent. Thomas Girone was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • Drug Arrest – On Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11:17 a.m., Officer Julian Martin responded to Rite Aid, located at 101 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a male subject yelling and damaging the walls in the bathroom. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 23-year-old Luis A. Velazquez, of Cedar Grove Road in Toms River, for Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin). In addition, a Plainsboro Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250 was located for his arrest. Luis Velazquez was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.
  • Shoplifting Arrest – On Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 2:23 p.m., Lieutenant Vincent Meehan and Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the Home Depot located at 244 Route 9 North in Forked River, for an adult shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Carmine R. Sperrazza, of 11th Avenue in Belmar, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $28.58. During the incident he was in the company of his 2-year-old child. In addition to shoplifting, Carmine Sperrazza had two outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrants totaling $2,500 and a Wall Township Municipal Court warrant for $500. Carmine Sperrazza was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with shoplifting and endangering the welfare of a child with bail set in the amount of $1,000. Carmine Sperrazza was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • Theft – On Monday, July 25, 2016, at 5:11 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to the 600 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between July 21, 2016, and July 23, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole his Stihl “Farm Boss” chainsaw valued at $600 from the side of his residence.  
  • Theft – On Monday, July 25, 2016, at 7:40 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 7-Eleven, located at 926 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m., on July 25, 2016, her iPad Mini 2 was stolen from the store. The victim further stated that she had removed the iPad from her purse when she paid for her purchase at the counter, and after she left, she realized she forgot it. When the victim returned to the store the iPad was missing. The iPad is valued at $700.00. The incident is currently under investigation.
  • Drug Arrest – On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 12:04 p.m., detectives from Lacey and Ocean Township Police Departments conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lacey Road near Arlington Avenue in Forked River in reference to a narcotics investigation. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Evan Cottrell of Main Street in Waretown, NJ, and the passenger, identified as 25-year-old Ryan Territo of Poplar Street in Waretown, NJ for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were transported to police headquarters and processed. They were both charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Warrant Arrest – Eluding – On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., members of the U.S. Marshals Service along with Detective Keith Pearce from the Lacey Township Police Department arrested 64-year-old Alan Fratello of Kingfisher Way in Whiting, NJ on charges stemming from an Eluding offense (vehicular pursuit) that occurred earlier this year in Lacey Township. On April 26, 2016, Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Lacey Road near Eagleswood Avenue in Forked River. The driver failed to stop for the officer and eluded him by operating the vehicle at a high rate of speed, in addition to several other traffic violations. The pursuit was terminated by Officer Tsarnas due to public safety concerns. Further investigation identified the driver to be Alan Fratello. A warrant for his arrest was issued in the amount of $100,000 for Eluding. A. Fratello was also wanted on warrants from the Manalapan Municipal Court, NJ, for $1,000 and from the Carlstadt Municipal Court, NJ, in the amount of $2,025. His whereabouts have been unknown for the past several months until detectives with the Lacey Township Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service located him at a residence in Edison, NJ. Alan Fratello was discovered hiding in a relative’s shed near Elliot Place in Edison, NJ, on July 26, 2016, and was arrested on his outstanding warrants. Alan Fratello was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
