Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 29th through July 5th, 2017

  • Drug Arrest – On Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 9:15 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel was patrolling Hebrew Park, located at 324 Cedar Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear of the park. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of all four occupants for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Those arrested included a 17-year-old female from Bayville, NJ, a 15-year-old female from Lanoka Harbor, a 17-year-old female from Forked River, and a 15-year-old male from Forked River. All four were released at the scene to their respective parents. In addition, the 17-year-old female driver from Bayville, NJ, was issued a traffic summons for CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
  • Brush Fire – On Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at 6:35 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the wooded area behind Brickwall Corporation, located at 2215 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of a brush fire. The fire burned approximately four acres before it was contained by the NJ Forest Fire Service. The NJ Forest Fire Service determined the cause of the fire to be fireworks.
  • Shoplifting – On Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at 9:04 a.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a shoplifting. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 86-year-old Minabell Yerks of Central Parkway in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $18.02. Minabell Yerks was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. She was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
  • DUI with Accident – On Monday, July 3, 2017, at 9:49 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari responded to Ralph’s Italian Ice, located at 349 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a traffic accident in the parking lot. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 51-year-old Elizabeth A. Tucker of Annapolis Lane in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Elizabeth A. Tucker was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Careless Driving.
  • Illegal Fireworks – On Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 9:46 p.m., Officers Anthony Sarno, Michael Verwey, and Christopher Meyler responded to Sunrise Boulevard near Leeward Drive in Forked River for a report of fireworks being set off. Investigation at the scene led to a Special Form of Complaint and Summons being issued against 18-year-old Daria Papamechail of Conant Street in Danvers, MA, for Possession/Use of Illegal Fireworks. She was released at the scene.
  • Illegal Fireworks – On Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 9:06 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 800 block of Bowline Drive in Forked River for a report of fireworks being set off. Investigation at the scene led to a Special Form of Complaint and Summons being issued against 33-year-old Joseph G. Materia of Bowline Drive, for Possession/Use of Illegal Fireworks. He was released at the scene.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 8:21 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 2000 block of Good Luck Road in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 12:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 2, 2017, an unknown person or persons slashed the tires on two separate vehicles that were parked in the driveway of the residence. The total value of the damaged tires is estimated at $500.
  • Illegal Fireworks – On Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 1:56 a.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Scott Keefe responded to the 800 block of Bowline Drive in Forked River for a report of loud music coming from a residence. Investigation at the scene led to a Special Form of Complaint and Summons being issued against 34-year-old Kyle E. Thacker of Beam Avenue in Jackson, NJ, for Excessive Noise and Possession of Illegal Fireworks. He was released at the scene.
  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 9:12 p.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Scott Keefe responded to the 1900 Block of Glen Oak Drive in Forked River for a report of a burglary. The victim reported that between 8:00 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, an unknown person or persons entered his residence and stole property consisting of a diamond engagement ring, a lockbox, a Liz Claiborne watch, and loose change. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at over $5000. No signs of forced entry could be located. The Lacey Township Police Detective Bureau is investigating.
  • Drug and Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 2:22 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel conducted a traffic stop on Spruce Lane near Sunset Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, identified as 28-year-old Michael E. Barrett of First Avenue in Woonsocket, RI, on an outstanding Wall Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $500. In addition he was found to be in possession of CDS. Michael E. Barrett was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. He was released after posting bail on the warrant and receiving a criminal summons charging him with Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Friday, June 30, 2017, at 8:45 a.m., Officer George Resetar responded to Lacey Used Auto Parts, located at 602 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of criminal mischief. The owner reported that between 5:30 p.m. on June 29, 2017 and 8:30 a.m. on June 30, 2017, the rear window on one of the vehicles parked on the property was shattered. The damage is estimated at $200.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 4:09 p.m., Officer George Resetar conducted a traffic stop on Lake Barnegat Drive North in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 38-year-old Brenna A. Haase of Elwood Street in Forked River, on an outstanding Woodbridge Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $417. She was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. The Woodbridge Township Municipal Court released her on her own recognizance.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 23rd through June 28th, 2017

  • Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to police headquarters to serve a Wall Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $500. Upon arrival Officer McKee met with 25-year-old William C. Fisher, 3rd, of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River. He was processed on the warrant and released after posting bail.
  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol – On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 7:19 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the 400 block of Barnacle Road in Forked River, for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival the officers located a 17-year-old male from Forked River, who appeared to be highly intoxicated and possibly under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. The juvenile was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital by the Lacey Township EMS. The parents of the juvenile reported that he had just been dropped off by a vehicle that had been circling the area. Officer Dalziel observed the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and spoke with the occupants. Upon further investigation 19-year-old Jordan Metcalf of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor, was issued a Special Form of Complaint and Summons for Underage Consumption of Alcohol in a Private Residence and released. A passenger, identified as a 17-year-old male from Forked River was charged on a juvenile complaint with Underage Consumption of Alcohol in a Private Residence and released to a parent.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Sunday, June 25, 2017, at 8:51 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 1500 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River, for a report of a criminal mischief. The complainant stated that just prior to contacting this agency, she had been traveling east on Beach Boulevard in her vehicle when her front passenger window, which was partially opened, suddenly shattered, spraying glass all over the interior of her vehicle. An inspection of the vehicle revealed that the passenger side mirror had also been shattered. The estimated cost of the damage is $300. The complainant was not injured and the incident remains under investigation.
  • Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Sunday, June 25, 2017, at 6:07 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 900 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017, and 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017, an unknown person or persons damaged the wooden post of his mailbox. The damage is estimated at $50.
  • DUI Arrest – On Monday, June 25, 2017, at 3:02 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old Tracy L. Modzelewski, of Pinho Avenue in Carteret, NJ for DUI. She was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Tracy L. Modzelewski was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Tests and Reckless Driving. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • DUI Arrest – On Monday, June 25, 2017, at 2:23 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of TD Bank, located at 106 Route 9 North in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 43-year-old Jeffery M. Stanislaski, of Montauk Drive in Forked River for DUI. He was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Jeffrey Stanislaski was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Improper Left Hand Turn, and Failure to Exhibit a Driver’s License. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Criminal Mischief (County Property) – On Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 10:16 a.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to the Ocean County Rail Trail access on Taylor Lane in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between the evening hours of Friday, June 23, 2017, and the morning hours of Saturday, June 24, 2017, an unknown person or persons cut multiple padlocks that secured green barricades to the ground on the Ocean County Rail Trail. The incident was reported to the Ocean County Parks and Recreation and the damage is estimated at $100.
  • Theft and Criminal Mischief (Business) – On Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 7:47 a.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to police headquarters for a report of criminal mischief and theft. The complainant reported that between 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 an unknown person or persons trespassed onto the property of Brick Wall Corporation, located at 2215 Lacey Road in Forked River, and damaged a wooden storage box. The complainant also reported that a Coleman grill valued at $60 and a Harbor Freight generator valued at $110 were stolen. The damage to the storage box is estimated at $100. The incident remains under investigation.
  • Making Alcoholic Beverages Available to Underage Persons – On Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 1:20 a.m., Officers Anthony Sarno, Michael Baldasari, and Scott Keefe, responded to the 200 block of Oak Lane in Forked River in regard to an intoxicated subject. During the course of the investigation, 19-year-old Briana L. Bonner of Oak Lane was issued a Special Form of Complaint and Summons for Making Alcoholic Beverages Available to Underage Persons. She was released at the scene.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, June 23, 2017, at 11:29 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 36-year-old Tiffany A. Davies, of Riva Boulevard in Brick, NJ on an outstanding Manchester Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $251. Tiffany Davies was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Tiffany Davies was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility. In addition, she was received traffic summonses for Driving While Suspended, Failure to Exhibit Registration, and Failure to Exhibit Insurance.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 16th through June 22nd, 2017

  • Drug and Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 1:25 p.m., Sergeant Robert Flynn, along with Lacey Township Police Detectives, conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Lacey Mall, located at 348 Route 9 North in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 23-year-old Brandon S. Weitzel of Trenton Road in Browns Mills, NJ, for Possession of CDS. In addition, an outstanding Pemberton Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $1623 was located for his arrest. The front seat passenger, identified as 23-year-old Mary Glenn of Pine Avenue in Browns Mills, NJ, was also arrested for Possession of CDS. They were both transported to police headquarters and processed. Brandon S. Weitzel was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of CDS. In addition he received traffic summonses for Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Driving with a Suspended License, Operating an Unregistered Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Fictitious License Plates. Brandon S. Weitzel was released ROR on the Pemberton Warrant and the vehicle he was operating was impounded. Mary Glenn was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of CDS.
  • Warrant Arrest (Multiple Warrants) – On Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 3:13 a.m., Officers John McKee, Robert Duffy and Jesse Dalziel responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report a male and female shoplifter who fled in a vehicle. A description of the vehicle was provided. Officer Jesse Dalziel observed the vehicle traveling on Western Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. Officer Duffy arrived on scene and assisted. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the male passenger, identified as 31-year-old James R. Smalls of Park Boulevard in Camden, NJ, on multiple warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the West Deptford Municipal Court in the bail amount of $750, warrant number two (2) was issued from the Pennsauken Municipal Court in the bail amount of $500 and warrant number three (3) was issued from the Gloucester Municipal Court in the bail amount of $500. Warrant number four (4) was issued from the Deptford Municipal Court in the bail amount of $450 and warrant number five (5) was issued from the Camden City Municipal Court in the bail amount of $250. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. All five municipal courts released James R. Smalls on his own recognizance pending a new court date. The shoplifting remains under investigation.
  • Drug Arrest – On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 9:14 p.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and Robert Duffy responded to Boox Street in Forked River, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival the vehicle was located. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old Kevin L. Bryan, of Huntley Avenue in Bayville, NJ for Possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kevin Bryan was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, he received a traffic summons for CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 4:04 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins took a report of a theft. The victim reported that between 3:30 p.m. on June 19, 2017, and 3:30 p.m. on June 20, 2017, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of her residence located on the 200 block of Falkenburg Avenue in Forked River and stole property. The property consisted of money in the amount of $30, and an Ipod Nano. The total theft is estimated at $75.
  • Theft (Prescription Blanks) – On Monday, June 19, 2017, Detective Kymberly Gudgeon completed an investigation into the theft of prescription blanks from a Doctor’s Office located on the 400 block of Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old Felicia N. Livio of Margaret Place in Lanoka Harbor, for the theft of seven (7) New Jersey Prescription Blanks over the past several months. She was processed and released on a criminal summons.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 11:58 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Kearny Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old Dawn Offenburger of Elwood Street in Forked River, on an outstanding Allentown Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $164. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Dawn Offenburger was released after posting full bail. In addition, she received traffic summonses for Driving with a Suspended License and Failure to Maintain Lane.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 6:17 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to Ralph’s Italian Ice, located at 349 Route 9 N in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of suspicious activity. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 49-year-old Kevin R. Tice of Enterprise Drive in Forked River, on an outstanding Newark Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $100. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kevin R. Tice was released on his own recognizance under the authority of the Newark Municipal Court.
  • DUI, Drug and Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 11:43 a.m., Officers Brian Holt, Darrell Nick and Noah Schaffer responded to Lacey Road near Vaughn Avenue in Forked River for a one car traffic crash. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 40-year-old John R. Gerlich of Sloop Creek Road in Bayville, NJ, for DUI. In addition four outstanding warrants were located for his arrest. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the bail amount of $2,318.15, warrant number two (2) was issued from the Brick Township Municipal Court in the bail amount of $2500, warrant number three (3) was issued from the Middletown Township Municipal Court in the bail amount of $250 and warrant number four (4) was issued from the Middletown Township Municipal Court in the amount of $250. John R. Gerlich was also found to be in possession of CDS. He was later processed and charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, John R. Gerlich received traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving with a Suspended License and Using a Cell Phone while Driving. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing. The vehicle John R. Gerlich was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 3:32 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near Jones Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, identified as 21-year-old Amanda L. Kraemer of Falkenburgh Avenue in Forked River, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $500. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Amanda L. Kraemer was released after posting full bail.
  • Making Alcoholic Beverages Available to Underage Persons and Underage Consumption of Alcohol in a Residence – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 1:14 a.m., Officers Julie Barcalow and Scott Keefe responded to the 300 block of Enterprise Drive in Forked River for a report of a loud party. An investigation resulted in several Special Forms of Complaint and Summonses being issued at the scene for Underage Consumption of Alcohol. They were issued to 20-year-old Caroline P. Linke of Princeton Drive in Jackson, NJ, 20-year-old Travis J. Galanos of Mulberry Place in Toms River, NJ, 18-year-old Robert T. Earle of Sams Road in Jackson, NJ, 20-year-old Dalton J. Rispoli of Spinnaker Court in Bayville, NJ, and 19-year-old Jonathan M. Borrero of Winchester Drive in Jackson, NJ. Furthermore, 24-year-old Michelle Deriggi of Enterprise Drive in Forked River was issued a Special Form of Complaint and Summons at the scene for Making Alcoholic Beverages Available to Underage Persons. All subjects were released at the scene.
  • DUI Arrest – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 12:32 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel of the Lacey Police Department and Sergeant Haggerty of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office were assigned to a Special Drunk Driving Enforcement Detail. Officer Dalziel conducted a traffic stop in front of 818 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old Keith Boos of Alpine Street in Forked River for DUI. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. Keith Boos was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane.
  • DUI Arrest – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 12:07 a.m., Detective Dimitrios Tsarnas of the Lacey Township Police Department and Detective Brad Frank of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office were assigned to a Special Drunk Driving Enforcement Detail. They responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 in Forked River, for a report of persons harassing store employees. Upon arrival the subjects were seen leaving in a dark Ford Pickup. Detective Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in front of 412 Route 9 South in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old David Dolan of Chestnut Hill Drive in Toms River, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. David Dolan was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Chemical Breath Tests, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 6:52 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the Rail Trail Trestle, located at 5000 Cedar Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, for a citizen requesting to speak with the police. Upon arrival the caller had left the area. A short while later the same caller contacted this agency a second time requesting to meet with an officer in the Walmart parking lot, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 44-year-old Charles F. Maulbeck, Jr. of Lien Street in Toms River, NJ on an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Child Support Warrant in the bail amount of $8623.71. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • DUI Arrest – On Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 5:58 p.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Michael Verwey responded to JR Liquors, located at 1000 Lacey Road in Forked River, in reference to a report of an intoxicated driver leaving the parking lot. A description of the vehicle was provided. Officer Verwey observed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Wawa, located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 47-year-old Robert McTague of Hastings Drive in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Robert McTague was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Driving While Intoxicated with a Minor in the Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Maintenance of Lamps, Driving with a Suspended License, Operating an Unregistered Vehicle, Child Restraint Required Violation (2 counts) and Failure to Wear Seatbelt (2 counts). The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • DUI Arrest – On Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 1:09 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 39-year-old Sean P. Rice of Forepeak Avenue in Beachwood, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Sean P. Rice was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Littering from a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Friday, June 16, 2017 at 5:30 p.m., Officers Jason Lee and Michael Verwey responded to Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River, for a report of a residential burglary in progress. The caller provided a description of the subject. Upon Officer Lee’s arrival, the subject was located walking on Nautilus Boulevard near Tom Gray Court in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 21-year-old Justin D. Helmick of Enterprise Drive in Forked River, for Burglary. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Justin D. Helmick was charged on a criminal warrant with Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Criminal Mischief. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, June 16, 2017, at 4:11 p.m., Officers Jason Lee, Julie Barcalow, and Michael Verwey responded to the 1400 block of Earie Way in Forked River for a wanted person. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 31-year-old Michael Frystock of Scarlet Oak Avenue in Toms River, NJ, on an outstanding no-bail warrant issued by the New Jersey Department of Corrections. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Michael Frystock was later turned over to the custody of the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 9th through June 16th, 2017

  • DUI Arrest — On Friday, June 16, 2017, at 12:51 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lacey Road and Lake Barnegat Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 25-year-old James J. Doyle Jr., of Badger Drive in Toms River, NJ, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James J. Doyle Jr. was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • DUI Arrest — On Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 8:14 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Rd near Holmes Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 47-year-old Robert J. Braden, of Key West Drive in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Robert J. Braden was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Speeding and Tinted Windows. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 2:48 p.m., Officer Frederick Anderson conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Penhook Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 22-year-old Zachary E. Gray of Capshaw Road in Forked River, on an outstanding South Toms River Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $500. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Zachary E. Gray was released after posting bail. In addition he received traffic summonses for Driving while Suspended, Suspended Registration and Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 9:02 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 2000 block of Brookdale Park Drive in Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that during the prior week an unknown person(s) slashed one tire and punctured two other tires on her vehicle with screws, while it was parked in the driveway of her residence. The total amount of the damage is estimated at $300. 
  • Residential Structure Fire On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 1:04 a.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and Andrew Slota responded to the 300 block of Merrimac Road in Forked River for a report of a residential structure fire.   Upon arrival, heavy smoke was observed coming from the rear of the residence. The residents were quickly evacuated by officers. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, with the assistance from both the Forked River and the Berkeley Township Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire. A Lanoka Harbor Firefighter was reported to have been treated and released at the scene by Lanoka Harbor EMS for a minor injury. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Lacey Township Detective Keith Pearce and Ocean County Fire Marshal Edward Hazelton.
  • Warrant Arrest and Possession of Syringe On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 12:37 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel conducted a traffic stop on Haines Street near Jacqueline Court in Lanoka Harbor.  Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 47-year-old David A. Barney, of Lake Avenue in Island Heights, NJ and the passenger, identified as 23-year-old Krysta D. Badgett, also of Lake Avenue in Island Heights, NJ, for possession of a hypodermic syringe.  Further investigation revealed that Krysta D. Badgett originally provided officers with a false name. Once her identity was established, she was found to have (2) two outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the bail amount of $20,000 and warrant number two (2) was issued from the Jackson Township Municipal Court in the bail amount of $239. Both subjects were transported to police headquarters and processed. David A. Barney was charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing. Krysta D. Badgett was charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and Hindering Apprehension. She was also lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle and Drug Arrest On Monday, June 12, 2017, at 4:34 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota observed a vehicle traveling on Route 9 South in Forked River riding on its rear driver’s side rim. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Forked River Diner. Upon further observation, it was determined by Officer Slota that the vehicle was familiar to him as a vehicle that was abandoned in the parking lot of Mrs. Walker’s on Sunday June 11, 2017, and had since been removed. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 25-year-old Ryan D. Territo of Corbin Court in Lakewood, NJ, for Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, Possession of CDS, and Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Ryan D. Territo was charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, Possession of CDS and Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) On Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 10:51 p.m., Officers Andrew Slota and Elton Copes responded to Mrs. Walker’s parking lot, located at 132 Route 9 South in Forked River for a report of a criminal mischief and a possible abandoned vehicle. The vehicle in question was located with the doors open and two slashed tires. The owner was contacted and advised she lent it to a friend. The damage to the tires was estimated at $300.
  • Drug Arrest On Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 6:27 p.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and Andrew Slota responded to an area of the Rail Trail located behind A’s Garden Center in Lanoka Harbor for a person lying on the ground and not moving. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 36-year-old Jason R. Becker of Caldwell Avenue in Forked River for Possession of CDS and Resisting Arrest. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Jason R. Becker was released after receiving criminal summonses for Resisting Arrest, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Drug Arrest On Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 1:50 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno located a suspicious vehicle in the area of Kearny Avenue and Lacey Road in Forked River.   Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Elijah Conn of Cooper Drive in New Rochelle, NY, for possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Elijah Conn was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less.
  • Criminal Mischief On Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:54 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 600 block of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief to mailboxes. The caller reported that a juvenile male in a four door blue Chevrolet was hanging out the passenger’s side window striking mailboxes with a skateboard. The damage to the mailboxes was estimated at approximately $100. The incident remains under investigation.
  • Eluding On Friday, June 9, 2017, at 7:53 p.m., Sergeant Robert Surtees attempted to stop a motorcycle near Lacey Road and Lane Place in Forked River for speeding.  The driver, described as a white adult male wearing a dark grey sleeveless shirt with tattoos on both arms, and operating a silver “sport bike” with no visible license plate refused to stop. The driver began operating the motorcycle at a high rate of speed and driving evasively in an attempt to evade officers trying to stop him.  Officers were unable to apprehend the suspect for eluding.  The incident remains under investigation.   • Warrant Arrest– On Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 7:46 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Western Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, identified as 47-year-old Joseph J. Caputo 3rd of Barnacle Road in Forked River, on an outstanding North Warren Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $698. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Joseph J. Caputo 3rd was released on his own recognizance (ROR) by the North Warren Municipal Court.
  • Theft – On Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 6:56 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to the Lacey Elks, located at 900 Beach Boulevard in Forked River for a theft report. The complainant reported that between May 29, 2017, and June 8, 2017, an unknown person or persons stole two of his 30-amp power cords that connected his docked boat to shore electric power.  The stolen power cords are valued at $250.
  • Shoplifting– On Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 4:27 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 55-year-old Catherine L. Catananzi, of Chipmunk Ct in Whiting, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $124.76. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Catherine L. Catananzi was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
  • Drug Arrest – On Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 1:09 a.m., Officer Michael Baldasari investigated a suspicious vehicle on Clearview Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old Brock Marion of Clair Road in Forked River for the possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Brock Marion was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Drug and Warrant Arrest– On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 3:58 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to Kohl’s, located at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River for a report of a shoplifting incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Jacob N. Barney of Lake Avenue in Island Heights, NJ, on an outstanding South Toms River Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $350. He was also found to be in possession of CDS.  Jacob N. Barney was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of CDS (Heroin). Jacob N. Barney was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • Shoplifting – On Monday, June 5, 2017, at 11:16 a.m., Officer Charles May responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 35-year-old Randi Bogus of Second Avenue in Toms River, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $259.64. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Randi Bogus was released after receiving a criminal summons for Shoplifting.
  • Theft– On Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 8:48 p.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the 300 block of Paradise Point Way in Forked River for a theft report. The complainant reported that between May 21, 2017 and June 4, 2017, an unknown person or persons stole a 50-foot yellow extension cord from the dock near his boat. The cord is valued at $50.
  • DUI Arrest– On Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 5:29 p.m., Officer John McKee conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 9 and Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old John T. Ward 3rd of Hardwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. John T. Ward 3rd was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving and Failure to Wear Seatbelt. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Trespassing and Underage Possession of Alcohol – On Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:23 p.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel and Jason Lee responded to the Beach Park, located at 5000 Beach Boulevard in Forked River, for a suspicious incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of four Lacey Township juveniles for trespassing, including two 16-year-old juvenile males from Forked River, a 15-year-old juvenile male from Forked River and a 16-year-old juvenile male from Lanoka Harbor. In addition, the 15-year-old juvenile male was also charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol. All four juvenile males were transported to police headquarters and processed. They were later released to their parents pending complaints.
  • Drug Arrest – On Thursday, June 1st 2017, at 5:24 p.m., Officers Brian Holt and Daniel Ricciardella responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 31-year-old Nicholas M. Picone, of Whitcomb Road in Forked River, 34-year-old, Robert Prosperi, Jr., of Enterprise Drive in Forked River, and 36-year-old Andrew Sojka, of Constitution Drive in Forked River, for Possession of CDS. Nicholas Picone was also found to have an outstanding Galloway Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $1000. All three were transported to police headquarters and processed. Robert Prosperi was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of CDS (Heroin), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. In addition, he received a traffic summons for Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. Andrew Sojka was released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of CDS (Heroin), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Nicholas Picone was charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of CDS (Heroin) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon – On Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 5:11 p.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Julie Barcalow responded to Bud Mezera Park, located at 1400 Lakeside Drive South in Forked River, for a report of a juvenile dispute involving a knife. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a juvenile female from Forked River for making threats with a knife. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and released to the custody of a parent. She was later charged on juvenile complaints with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
