Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – March 9th, 2018 through March 16th, 2018
- CDS Arrest – On Monday, March 12, 2018, at 10:01 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler was traveling north on Route 9 when he observed the vehicle in front of him travel over the fog line of the roadway three different times. Officer Meyler conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle on Route 9 North near Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old John K. Kalamaras, of Clubhouse Drive, Forked River, NJ, and 19-year-old Riley R. Allan, of Pershing Avenue, Forked River, NJ. John Kalamaras and Riley Allan were transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters for processing. Riley Allan was charged with Possession of 50 grams or Less of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. John Kalamaras was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Riley Allan was also issued a traffic summons for Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
- Criminal Mischief – On Monday, March 12, 2018, at 6:32 p.m. Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the 1200 Block of Cypress Street in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief to a residence. Officer Barcalow observed damage to French doors inside of the residence. The value of the damage is estimated at $2000.
- Warrant Arrest – On Monday, March 12, 2018, at 12:39 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno arrested Douglas J. McKee, Jr. of Tampa Road, Forked River, NJ, on an outstanding Passaic County Sheriff’s Department No Bail warrant. During the arrest Douglas McKee, Jr. became uncooperative and physically resisted the officers. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Resisting Arrest. The Passaic County Sheriff’s Department responded and took custody of Douglas McKee, Jr.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 9:08 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the area of Route 9 south near Lacey Road for a report of an aggressive driver in a green Chevrolet Pickup truck traveling south on Route 9. Officer Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop of the truck on Sylvania Place in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19-year-old Savannah L. Banks, of Jay Street, Forked River, NJ, for DUI. Savannah Banks was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Maintenance of Lamps, Suspended Registration, and Tailgating. Savannah Banks was also charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 5:32 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella was on patrol in the area of Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor, when he observed the driver of a green Nissan Altima not wearing a seatbelt. Officer Ricciardella conducted a motor vehicle stop. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 23-year-old Jessica L. O’Donnell, of Clairmore Avenue, Lanoka Harbor, NJ, on outstanding arrest warrants. The first warrant was a Camden County Superior Court Child Support Warrant in the bail amount of $5,352. The other three warrants were West Deptford Municipal Court warrants in the bail amounts of $40 for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charge, $75 for Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe charge, and $300 for a traffic offense charge. Jessica O’Donnell was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters for processing but was unable to post bail. Jessica O’ Donnell was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
- Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 4:42 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters in reference to a subject requesting to post bail on an outstanding warrant. Officer Michael Hein arrested 37-year-old James J. Urcinole, II, of Manhattan Avenue, Bayville, NJ, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the bail amount of $239. James Urcinole posted bail and was released.
- Shoplifting Arrest – On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 1:22 p.m., Officer John Simonson responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter in custody. The loss prevention employee reported that a female subject placed numerous cosmetic items in her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 18-year-old Holly R. Sikorski, of Shenandoah Boulevard, Toms River, NJ, for stealing cosmetic products valued at $77. Holly Sikorski was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with Shoplifting.
- Shoplifting – On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 1:06 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella responded to Lacey Police Headquarters in reference to a report of shoplifting. The owner of Powered by Games, 629 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor, NJ, reported that a male subject can be seen on video surveillance entering his store and removing a Star Wars video from a shelf and concealing it in his sweatshirt. The suspect left the store without paying for the merchandise. The incident is under investigation.
- CDS Arrest – On Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 9:33 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler and Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the 1000 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a loud disturbance inside a parked vehicle. A vehicle matching the description was located near the intersection of Leslie Street and Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Jacob F. McGlinchy, of Hughes Drive, Hamilton, NJ, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jacob McGlinchy was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Possession of 50 grams or Less of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jacob McGlinchy was also issued a traffic summons for Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. A 17-year-old male juvenile passenger was also transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and charged on a juvenile complaint with Possession of 50 grams or Less of Marijuana. The juvenile was then turned over to the custody of his mother.
- CDS Arrest – On Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 9:00 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno was on patrol and conducted a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle on Lacey Road near Trenton Avenue in Forked River for maintenance of lamps. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 18-year-old Jared A. Giaimo, of College Avenue, Buckhannon, WV, and the passenger, 20-year-old Kyle P. Feery, of Woodland Road, Bayville, NJ for possession of marijuana. Jared Giaimo and Kyle Feery were transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where they were processed and charged. Jared Giaimo was charged with Possession of 50 grams or Less Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jared Giaimo was also issued traffic summonses for Maintenance of Lamps, Tinted Windows, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. Kyle Feery was charged with Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kyle Feery was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
- Criminal Mischief – On Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 3:56 p.m., Officer Michael Hutman responded to the 500 Block of Lanlac Drive in Lanoka Harbor for a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that between the hours of 3:30 p.m. on March 9, 2018 and 3:55 p.m. on March 10, 2018, someone damaged his mailbox. The total amount of damage is estimated at $50.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – March 2, 2018 through March 8, 2018
- Warrant Arrest- On Tuesday, March 03, 2018, at 8:22 PM, Officer Michael Baldasari conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 and Murray Grove Lane, Lanoka Harbor, for a traffic offense. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 45 year old Mark Rocchetti, of Mill Creek Rd, Bayville, NJ, who was found to have an active traffic warrant out of New Gretna in the amount of $1,000.00. Mark Rocchetti was issued summonses for maintenance of lamps and driving on the revoked list. Mark Rocchetti was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
- Warrant Arrest- On Sunday, March 04, 2018, Officers Scott Keefe and Julie Barcalow responded to the area Newark Ave, Forked River near the Heritage Apartments for a report of a suspicious vehicle with two occupants. Officer Keefe located the vehicle and found the two occupants sleeping inside. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 33 year old Donald Daugherty, of Coolidge Ave, Toms River, NJ, who was found to have an active traffic warrant out of Beachwood in the amount of $500.00. Donald Daugherty was arrested and transported to the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
- Terroristic Threats- On Sunday, March 04, 2018, at 10:07 a.m., Officers Michael Hutman, Michael Verwey and John Mckee responded to Advanced Auto, 218 Route 9, Forked River, for a report of a customer dispute. It was determined that an employee of the store, 45 year old Luis Loli, of Beverly Rd., Forked River, NJ, had made threatening gestures and verbal threats to a customer. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Louis Loli. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released after being charged on a criminal summons with terroristic threats.
- Residential Burglary- On March 04, 2018, Officer Michael Baldasari responded to a residence on Chestnut Drive, Lanoka Harbor, for report of a burglary. The homeowner reported that between the hours of 1130 and 2230 hours on March 04th, someone entered his residence through a locked back door and stole items. Various items and cash were reported stolen from within the home. The combined estimated value of all of the items stolen is over $10,000.00. The Lacey Township Detective Bureau is investigating along with the Ocean County Criminal Investigations Unit.
- Drug Arrest/Warrant Arrest- On March 04, 2018 at 1737 hours Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the parking lot of the PNC Bank on Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of a suspicious vehicle with a subject sleeping inside. Upon arrival he located 23 year old Jadie Dodds, of Grace Drive, of Manahawkin, NJ, who was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Jadie Dodds was also found to be in possession of marijuana and one Percocet. Additionally, Jadie Dodds was found to have an active warrant out of Stafford Township in the bail amount of $750.00. Jadie Dodds was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams, Possession of CDS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was also issued traffic summonses for driving on the revoked list and CDS in a motor vehicle. Jadie Dodds was unable to post bail and transported to Ocean County Jail.
- Criminal Mischief to an Auto- On Sunday, March 04, 2018, at 11:40 p.m., Officer Meyler responded to an address on Briar Rd, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of criminal mischief. The vehicle owner reported that while inside her residence she heard three loud “pops”. Upon checking her vehicle she discovered a puncture hole on the windshield and damage to the quarter panel. The damage is believed to be caused by a pellet/BB gun. The damage is estimated at $500.00.
- DWI/Drug Arrest- On Monday, March 05, 2018, at 02:14 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a motor vehicle at Route 9 near Clearwater Drive, Forked River, for a traffic violation. The investigation led to the arrest of the driver, 32 year old Carlos Quesada-Barrantes, of Clubhouse Drive, Forked River, NJ, for DWI. Carlos Quesada-Barrantes was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Carlos Quesada-Barrantes was processed and released after being charged on a criminal summons with Possession of marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued traffic summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, Improper Passing, Failure to maintain lane, and CDS in a motor vehicle. Carlos Quesada-Barrantes was released to a family member pursuant to John’s Law.
- Vehicle Fire- On March 05, 2018 at 7:28 AM, Officers Darrell Nick and John Simonson, responded to Lacey Road near Holmes Avenue, Forked River, for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival they observed a white BMW with visible flames coming from underneath it. Station #60 was dispatched and extinguished the fire. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
- Theft of Gas- On March 05, 2018, at 8:03 p.m., Officer Christopher Meyler, responded to the parking lot of Walmart, 580 Route 9, for a report of an erratic driver. Upon arrival he located the suspected vehicle which was driven by 23 year old Abdelkari Kandil, of Boox St, Forked River, NJ. It was discovered that Abdelkari Kandil, earlier in the day at 4:21 p.m., he received $20.00 of gas from the Wawa located on Route 9, Forked River left without paying. Abdelkari Kandil was arrested for the theft and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released after being charged on a criminal summons with theft of services.
- Criminal Mischief to a residence- On Tuesday, March 06, 2018, Officer Adam Ewart, responded to an address on Davis Ave, Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. It was reported by the homeowner that someone had broken the window located to her basement sometime between March 5, 2018 and March 6, 2018. The damage was estimated at $100.00.
- Theft of a package- On Thursday, March 08, 2018, at 8:57 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas, responded to the Lacey Marine, 308 Route 9, Forked River, for a report of theft. Upon arrival he met with victim, who stated that on Friday, March 02, 2018, he had a package returned to him and according to the post office it was accidentally placed in front of the door of a business located above Lacey Marine. The victim reported that upon checking for the package he discovered that it had been stolen. The package contained a Rescue Link PBL valued at $325.00. The incident remains under investigation.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – February 23, 2018 through March 1, 2018
- Shoplifting and CDS Arrest – On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 7:08 p.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and Jesse Dalziel responded to Prime Time Smoke Shop, 118 Route 9 South, Forked River for a report of a female shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 28-year-old Jeni L. McDaniel of Route 9 South, Forked River, for attempting to steal merchandise valued at $10. She was arrested and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters. Additionally, she was found to be in possession of CDS. Jeni L. McDaniel was charged on a criminal warrant with shoplifting and possession of CDS, and was later transported to the Ocean County Jail.
- Fraud – On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 3:35 p.m., Officer Scott Anderson responded to Pensacola Road in Forked River and to meet with a victim of a fraud. The victim stated that he is the owner of an internet business out of his home that deals with automotive parts. He recently shipped an order for $2175 worth of parts to a buyer in Detroit, MI. The buyer called the owner of the auto parts business and claimed that he did not place an order for any parts and had a fraudulent charge to his credit card. The shipped order was picked up in Detroit by someone who showed the necessary ID with the buyers name on it. The owner/victim stated that his PayPal business account was deducted for the merchandise he shipped. The total amount of the fraud is estimated over $4000. The incident remains under investigation.
- Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 10:07 a.m., Officer George Resetar responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters for a male subject who turned himself in on an active criminal warrant. The no-bail warrant was out the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department for charges originated in Lacey Township for impersonation/identity theft. The subject, 29-year-old Christopher T. Ross, of Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, was processed and transported to the Ocean County Jail.
- Theft from Auto – On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 7:25 a.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to Harrison Avenue and Clifton Street in Forked River for a report of a found purse. The subsequent investigation revealed that the owner of the purse, who lives on Elwood Street in Forked River, had her vehicle broken into during the overnight hours between February 26, 2018 and February 27, 2018. The victim reported that she locked her car, which was parked in the driveway of the residence, but left her key fob in her purse inside the vehicle. The key fob was stolen from the purse. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $105.
- Theft – On Monday, February 26, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 200 block of Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor for a report of theft from a homeowner whose property was under construction. Two males were seen leaving in a white pickup truck removing items, including a diamond plated toolbox, from the site. The estimated amount of the theft is over $3000. The incident remains under investigation.
- Possession of CDS/Drug Paraphernalia– On Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 9:00 p.m., Special Officer Robert Campolei was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Wawa on Lacey Road, Forked River. Officer Michael Baldasari arrived on scene to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Timothy Tormey, of Murrieta, California, for possession of marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released after being charged on a criminal summons for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received motor vehicle summonses for open container and CDS in a motor vehicle.
- Theft from Auto – On Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 6:36 p.m., Officer Chris Meyler responded to the 600 block of Fairview Lane in Forked River for a report of two vehicles that had been broken into. The victim reported that between 6:00 p.m. on February 24, 2018, and 6:00 p.m. on February 25, 2018, someone entered her two unlocked vehicles that were parked in her driveway and removed a wallet containing $50 in cash, a NJ Driver’s License, and loose change from the center consoles. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $75.
- Theft from Auto – On Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 1:51 p.m., Officer Michael Hutman responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters to take a report of theft. The victim reported that between the hours of 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, and 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, someone removed a Guess purse from her unlocked vehicle., which was parked in the driveway of her residence on Nantucket Road, Forked River. The purse and its contents are estimated at $787.
- Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 12:49 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Michael Hutman took a criminal mischief report for a vehicle that was parked at Backward Flag Brewery, Challenger Way, Forked River. The owner of the vehicle reported a large scratch down the length of her vehicle. The incident took place on February 25, 2018, between 4:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The damage is estimated at $500.
- Warrant Arrest/Possession of CDS – On Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 8:55 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari and Special Officer Michael Moeller responded to the area known as the Trestle in Lanoka Harbor for a suspicious vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle, Candace M. Bollettieri of Boulder Drive, Barnegat, NJ, was found to have two active warrants. The first warrant was a traffic warrant out of Stafford Township Municipal Court in the amount of $139; the second warrant is a no bail criminal warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Candace Bollettieri was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and was transported to the Ocean County Jail. Additionally, she was found to be in possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. Candace Bollettieri was charged on a criminal warrant for possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Theft – On Friday, February 23, 2018, at 5:45 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to Firestone in the Lacey Mall on Route 9 South in Lanoka Harbor for a report of 20 stolen tires. The manager stated that he received a shipment of 20 Firestone and Primewall tires at approximately 12:00 p.m. on this date that were stacked in the rear of the store outside the receiving door. The manager discovered the tires missing at 1:00 p.m. The incident remains under investigation.
- Theft – On Friday, February 23, 2018, Officer Michael Hein responded to Jersey Sportsman Ammunition Sales on Route 9 South in Forked River for a report of a stolen firearm. The owner of the business shipped a firearm to a customer in California via the US Postal Service. The box was delivered to buyer’s residence but was found to be empty. The owner notified the New Jersey State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The matter remains under investigation.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – February 16, 2018 through February 22, 2018
- CDS Arrest- On Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 6:40 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the WaWa, 800 Lacey Road, Forked River, to investigate an aggressive drive complaint. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 36 year old Ali Gunaydin, of C. Farrington, Lakewood, NJ for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ali Gunaydin was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged on a criminal warrant with possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for CDS in a motor vehicle. Ali Gunaydin was later transported to Ocean County Jail.
- Fraud/Identity Theft – On Monday, February 19, 2018, at 11:11 a.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters to take a report of identity theft. The victim stated he went to Liberty Tax and had his taxes prepared. Two days later, he received a call from his tax preparer advising him that the IRS rejected his Federal Tax Return because his name and social security number had already been used to E-file a tax return. Liberty Tax contacted the IRS and the victim contacted a credit bureau who advised him they would be monitoring his credit. The incident remains under investigation.
- Theft – On Monday, February 19, 2018, at 9:18 a.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to the 300 block of East Lacey Road, Southwinds Marina, for a report of theft. The owner of Mermaids Cove Marina reported that he rents space from Southwinds Marina and noticed that a coil wire had been removed from his Travel Lift making it inoperable. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $125. The theft is believed to have occurred between February 2, 2018 and February 9, 2018. The incident remains under investigation.
- Warrant Arrests – On Sunday, February 18, 2018, at 9:29 p.m., Officer Elton Copes responded to Lacey Township Police Headquarters for a subject turning himself in on outstanding warrants. The subject, 36-year-old Jack J. Hall, of Willow Lane, Forked River, had three outstanding warrants–a no bail warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, a warrant out of Stafford Township Municipal Court for $639, and a warrant out of Beachwood Township Municipal Court for $600. Unable to post bail, he was transported to the Ocean Correctional Facility without incident.
- Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, February 18, 2018, at 2:34 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 South and Taylor Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene found the driver, 31-year-old Roy D. Black of Lexington Boulevard, Barnegat, NJ, had a suspended driver’s license. In addition, Roy D. Black had an outstanding warrant out of Little Egg Harbor Township for $289. He was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail. Roy Black was issued a motor vehicle summons for Suspended Driver’s License.
- Possession of Marijuana – On Friday, February 16, 2018, at 8:51 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Elwood Street near the intersection of Weehawkin Avenue in Forked River. The driver, 21-year-old Steven S. Higgins of Edgemere Avenue, Forked River, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Steven Higgins for possession of marihuana under 50g. Steven Higgins was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. He received motor vehicle summonses for Speeding, Suspended Driver, and CDS in a Motor Vehicle. He was charged on a criminal warrant for Possession of Marijuana and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility without incident.
- Burglary Auto – On Friday, February 16, 2018, at 5:21 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 500 block of Vaughn Avenue in Forked River for a report of a vehicle burglary. The victim reported that between February 8, and February 16, 2018, an unknown person(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and stole $140 in cash from the center console. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence. The incident remains under investigation.
- Theft of a Bicycle – On Friday, February 16, 2018, at 2:37 p.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 700 block of Sinclair Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a bicycle theft. The victim reported that between 9:00 p.m. on February 13, and 2:00 on February 16, 2018, someone took her son’s red Huffy bicycle from under the front porch of her residence. The approximate value of the bicycle is $20. There are no suspects at the time of this report.
- DWI Arrest – On Friday, February 16, 2018, at 2:12 p.m., Officers John Simonson and Dan Ricciardella responded to the German Butcher Shoppe on Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of a suspicious incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Marianna Ruggiero of Morning Glory Lane, Manchester, NJ, for DUI. Marianna Ruggiero was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed. She was later released from police custody after receiving motor vehicle summonses for DWI and Reckless driving. The car she was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – February 9th, 2018 through February 15, 2018
- DWI Arrest/Possession of CDS – On Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 7:20 a.m., Officer John McKee responded to the area of 309 Route 9 North, Forked River, for a report of a female slumped over the wheel on the side of the road. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19-year-old Jordan L. Metcalf of Ariel Drive, Forked River, for DUI. Jordan Metcalf was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with DWI, Underage DWI, Reckless, and Possession of 50 gram or less of Marijuana. The car she was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Attempted Car Burglary– On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 1:37 a.m., Officer Michael Baldasari responded to the 1000 block of Center Street, Forked River, for a report of two males attempting to gain entry into parked vehicles. One of the male subjects was wearing a red sweatshirt, the other a black sweatshirt. There was no entry into the vehicles because they were locked at the time of the incident. The two males fled the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
- Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 1:56 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella responded to the 600 block of Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, for a suspicious individual. Investigation at the scene found Jeffrey E. Phillips of Vine Street, Freehold, NJ, to have an outstanding criminal warrant out of Freehold Boro Municipal Court for $1500. He was processed and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
- DWI Arrest with Accident – On Monday, February 12, 2018, at 7:45 p.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and Brian Holt were dispatched to Deerhead Lake Drive and Lakeside Drive North in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Anthony F. Frascella of Wheaton Avenue, Bayville, NJ, for DUI. Anthony Frascellla was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Use of Cell Phone while Driving. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. He was later released from police custody.
- DWI Arrest with Accident – On Sunday, February 11, 2018, at 10:32 p.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel and Patrick Watkins were dispatched to the intersection of Lacey Road and Newark Avenue in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 32-year-old Annarosa K. Carratura of Hillwood Road in Forked River for DUI. Annarosa K. Carratura was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Observe Signal, and Cell Phone Use while Driving. The vehicle she was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. She was later released from police custody.
- Theft – On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:51 p.m., Officer Robert Duffy responded to the Wawa on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor for a theft report. The juveile complainant reported that upon paying for his merchandise, he left his wallet on the counter and left the store. When he realized he left his wallet behind, he went back to the store but the wallet was gone. The theft occurred sometime between 10:15 p.m. and 10:45 on Saturday night. The wallet is described as a black cloth Volcom wallet. The contents and the wallet are valued at $114. The incident remains under investigation.
- Shoplifting – On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Alan Abrecht and Special Officer Tyler Walsh responded to the Walmart on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter who fled the store on foot with $120 worth of merchandise including three pocket knives and a 16 pack of Duracell AA batteries. The suspect ran toward the wooded area near Lacey Used Auto. The suspect is described as a tall white male in his twenties. Surveillance video was available and the incident remains under investigation.
- Shoplifting Arrest – On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:28 a.m., Officers Adam Ewart and Alan Abrecht responded to the Walmart on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor for a report of an adult male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 60-year old George E. Slawson of Iger Way, Bayville, NJ, after he was observed attempting to steal a “Game of Thrones” box set worth approximately $40.00. George Slawson was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and released after being charged on a criminal summons with shoplifting.
- CDS Arrest – On Friday, February 9, 2018, at 10:32 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari conducted a motor vehicle stop on Bullard Avenue and Jay Street in Forked River for a vehicle with unclear license plates. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old Sara J. Balo of Princeton Avenue in Bayville, NJ, for possession of marijuana under 50g, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sara Balo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. She received summonses for Possession of CDS and Drug Paraphernalia. Sara Balo also received a motor vehicle summons for Improper Display of License Plates and was released after being charged on a criminal summons.
- DWI Arrest – On Friday, February 9, 2018, at 8:23 p.m., Special Officer Michael Moeller conducted a motor vehicle stop for failure to maintain lane on Lacey Road and Spaulding Avenue in Forked River. Officer Christopher Meyler arrived on scene to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 68-year-old Benedict Vilardo, Jr., of Davenport Road in Toms River, NJ, for DUI. Benedict Vilardo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed. He received motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Reckless, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. He was later released from police custody.
