*** Traffic Update – Lacey Road and the Garden State Parkway Overpass ***
On Wednesday morning, December 19, 2018, this agency responded to a motor vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound at the parkway overpass bridge for Lacey Township. As a result of the crash, a beam located on the north side (Garden State Parkway northbound) of the overpass bridge was damaged. As a result of the damage, the traffic pattern for the Lacey Road overpass bridge has been changed pending repair of the damage.
The original traffic pattern allowed for one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes over the bridge. The new pattern only allows for one eastbound lane and one westbound lane. Therefore, expect traffic delays, especially during times of commute. In addition, drivers utilizing the southbound exit for Lacey Road should be aware that once they go through the toll booth and approach Lacey Road they will now be required to stop at a stop sign before turning East onto Lacey Road. Drivers entering Lacey Road in this area should exercise extreme caution as there will be only one eastbound lane of travel and motorists will be merging with existing eastbound Lacey Road traffic.
It is possible that the new traffic pattern will remain in effect for the next several months while repairs are being made. I am asking those who choose to utilize alternate routes to be cognizant of the traffic laws (stop signs, speed limit etc) in those areas. Additional news releases will be forthcoming as needed. Thank you.
