***** UPDATE 8:01 P.M. JULY 9, 2017  *****

THE POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED IN LACEY TOWNSHIP AND ALL TRAFFIC LIGHTS ARE FUNCTIONING

Today (July 9, 2017)  at 5:30 p.m., Lacey Township experienced a power outage throughout  most of the township. Ocean Township (Waretown) and Barnegat Township also experienced the power outage. Approximately 25,000 combined residents were without power. In addition, in Lacey Township, all of the traffic lights were out, except for those traffic lights north of Lacey Road on Route 9 (except for Route 9 and Musket). The traffic lights were controlled by police officers during the power outage.  It appears the outage was caused by a blown transformer  located off -site at Oyster Creek (Exelon), located at 800 Route 9 South in Forked River. The blown transformer also caused a brush fire that had to be extinguished by the Forked River Fire Department and the New Jersey State Forrest Fire Service. All of the power was restored by 8:01 p.m.

Thank you.
