Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Halloween Safety Tips – October 27, 2021
Trick or Treat in Lacey Township will be this Sunday, October 31, 2021. Those participating should: Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure their shoes fit properly, costumes are short enough to prevent tripping, entanglement or contact with an open flame, and masks do not obstruct vision. Carry a flashlight with you so you can be seen by others. Plan your route and share it with your family members. Only Trick or Treat in familiar neighborhoods and at homes that have a porch light on. If possible, stay in groups and walk on the sidewalks. If there is no sidewalk available, use the farthest edge of the roadway. Look both ways before crossing the street and try to cross only at corners. Do not hide or cross in between parked cars. Never enter a strange car or home to accept a treat. Be cautious of animals and strangers. Never eat unwrapped food items. Have an adult inspect your treats before eating them. Notify Law Enforcement immediately of any sign of suspicious or illegal activity. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – October 14 through October 21, 2021
MV Accident- On Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 3:26 p.m., officers responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident that occurred on Lacey Road, west of the Parkway. Officers discovered that a vehicle driven by an 84 year-old female left the lane of travel and collided with a tree. The sole occupant was airlifted to a trauma center with serious injuries. Stolen MV- On Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 2:09 a.m., Officer Bruce Carver conducted a registration inquiry of a suspicious vehicle. Officer Carver discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Lakewood Township. The vehicle was parked on Orlando Drive although officers could not locate the driver. The vehicle was processed and returned to a Lakewood Township rental company. Dispute- On Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 12:18 a.m., officers were requested at a Beach Boulevard home for a physical dispute. Officers found that multiple adults were involved in the matter that ended prior to their arrival. All parties were referred to Court to sign criminal complaints on their own behalf. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Coffee with a Cop – Monday, October 25, 2021
Next Monday, October 25, 2021, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the Lacey Township Police Department with be hosting a "Coffee with a Cop" event. The event will be held at the Lacey Mall Dunkin', located at 344 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor (Lacey Township). Stop by inside and enjoy some free coffee and conversation with your Lacey Township Police Officers. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 14 through July 21, 2022
Aggressive Driver/Endangering Another Person- On Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 9:55 p.m., Officer Hyle responded to the 700 block of Cambridge Road, for an aggressive driver complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant who reported while they were traveling in the area of Route 9 and Lacey Road, a vehicle driven by Gerard O’Connor, 19, of Toms River, cut her off. The victim also reported that Gerard had thrown a plastic water bottle through their vehicle’s window, which struck the driver in the chest. At the conclusion of the investigation, Gerard was charged with Endangering Another Person on a special form of complaint summons and released at the scene. Fraud- On Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11:17 a.m., Officer Biel responded to police headquarters for a fraud report. Upon arrival the victim reported they have been receiving letters from credit and debit card companies for multiple accounts that have been unknowingly opened in his name. The banks had been notified of the fraudulent activity and the accounts were closed. Fraud- On Friday, July 8, 2022, 2:39 p.m., Officer Nilon responded to police headquarters for a report of credit card fraud. The victim reported on June 1, 2022, someone purchased a yearly computer program subscription using his credit card. The value of the unauthorized purchase was $106.61. Theft- On Friday, July 8, 2022, at 8:45 p.m., Officer Gant responded to police headquarters for a report of a theft. The victim reported their unsecured bicycle was stolen from the bike rack at the Lacey Township High School during the evening of July 8, 2022. The value of the bicycle was estimated at $100.00. DWI- On Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 8:48 p.m., Officer Keefe responded to Wawa, 800 Lacey Road, for a report of a vehicle parked in front of the store, occupied by a male driver who was nodding out. Upon arrival, Officer Keefe observed the running vehicle and made contact with the driver, Matthew R. Leroy, 49, of Sussex Place, Forked River. Following an investigation at the scene, Matthew was placed under arrest and was transported to headquarters. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 1 through July 7, 2022
Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, July 3, 2022, at 1:17 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Windsor Street and Arlington Avenue, Forked River, for a report of a male subject with long hair that was dancing and talking to himself. Upon their arrival, officers observed a male subject matching the description given, whom they identified as Brenden Evans (35) of Devon Street, Forked River. It was discovered that Brenden had an active warrant issued out of the Ocean County Superior Court. Brenden was placed under arrest and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he was lodged. DWI - On Monday, July 4, 2022 at 6:24 p.m., Lieutenant Sullivan conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Game Farm Road, Forked River, for careless driving and failure to maintain lane. Officers Lee and Hyle responded to assist, and met with the driver, Carolyn Landes (61) of Toms River. Investigation at the scene revealed that Carolyn was driving while intoxicated. Carolyn was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where she was processed.
