Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 11 through November 18, 2021
MVA- On Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 2:24 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella investigated a motor vehicle accident on West Lacey Road. It was reported that the accident occurred when the 85 year-old driver of one vehicle turned in front of another vehicle being operate by a 72 year-old Forked River resident. Although the vehicles did not collide, the second vehicle was forced to leave the roadway and strike a traffic sign. Through video surveillance, Officer Ricciardella was able to determine that Charles Hicks, 51, was the driver of the first vehicle and not his mother Joan Hicks. Charles was charged criminally with Operating a Motor Vehicle During License Suspension. Joan was charged with Hindering the Apprehension. Both were released on their own recognizance pending a Court appearance. Assault- On Friday, November 12, 2021, at 4:31 p.m., Officers Anthony Sarno and Elton Copes were dispatched to a Harris Road residence for a landlord/tenant dispute. The owner of the home, Sean Mahoney, 51, was issued a summons for simple assault after striking the tenant. Burglary- On Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 10:32 a.m., Officer Michael Hein was dispatched to Key West Road in reference to theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that during overnight hours, an unknown suspect(s) stole tools, cash and medication from his vehicle. The actor is suspected to have gained entry through a broken window that was covered with plastic. Arrest- On Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 12:42 a.m., Officers Randy Plis and Brian Holt encountered a Long Branch man sleeping in his vehicle at Wawa, 444 Route 9. During their interaction, officers discovered an outstanding warrant for the driver, William Greene-Vonglahn, 26. While being placed under arrest, Vonglahn was found in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Vonglahn was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. He was later lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility on the strength of the warrant. Fraud- On Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 9:17 p.m., Officer Dan Biel met with a Forked River resident in reference to fraud. Burglary / Theft from Motor Vehicle - On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 6:21 p.m., Officer Holt responded to a Clearwater Drive residence and met with a complainant who wished to report a burglary of their motor vehicle. The complainant advised that they recently discovered that their Apple iPod was missing from their vehicle, but were unsure when the burglary and theft may have occurred. The iPod was valued at $40.00. No suspects have been identified at this time. Motor Vehicle Crash / DWI – On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 8:30 p.m., multiple officers responded to Jones Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pickup truck that collided with a parked car. Upon his arrival, Officer Keefe met with the driver of the pickup truck, Mark Anthony, 59, of Beachwood. Investigation at the scene revealed that Mark was driving while intoxicated. Mark was placed under arrest. Mark was issued several motor vehicle summonses, including DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – August 18 through August 25, 2022
Shoplifting/Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 5:11 p.m., Officer Ricciardella responded to the Home Depot, 244 North Main Street, Forked River, for a reported shoplifting. The store employee advised Officer Ricciardella that they had observed an unknown male select numerous pieces of merchandise from within the business, place the items inside of a shopping cart, and attempt to leave the store without paying for them. When he was confronted by the employee as he was nearing the exit, the suspect abandoned his shopping cart and fled into the parking lot. The merchandise was valued in excess of $370.00. Officers were able to identify the suspect as Brian Salters, 43, of Forked River. A warrant was later issued for Brian. On Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2023 hours, Officer Pandorf located Brian at a Seabright Road residence, and placed him under arrest on the Lacey Township warrant. Brian was transported to police headquarters where he was processed before being lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility, without incident. Criminal Mischief – On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 12:42 p.m., Officer Biel responded to the intersection of Laurel Boulevard and Wickford Lane for a report of criminal mischief. Upon his arrival, Officer Biel observed graffiti on the stop sign at the aforementioned intersection. Officer Biel checked the surrounding area and found additional graffiti on the stop sign located at the intersection of Warwick Lane and Exeter Place. The damage was estimated at $100.00. Fraud - On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 10:21 a.m., Officer Lee responded to police headquarters to take a report of fraud. Officer Lee met with the victim, who advised that he had recently learned that his personal information had been used to open two federal student loans which had a combined value in excess of $6,000.00. The loan servicing company was notified of the suspected fraud and were working with the victim to close the accounts. Criminal Mischief – On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 6:36 p.m., Officer Walsh responded to the 400 block of Stony Point Drive for a report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle.
