Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Breaking News – Thursday, April 11, 2013 – New Police Officers Appointed
Department News - The Lacey Township Committee voted to hire 4 new full-time police officers who will begin their training at the Ocean County Police Academy in Basic Class #96 beginning Thursday, April 18, 2013. The 4 new officers entering the academy are as follows: . Michael Hein - Bachelor's Degree in Sociology & Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice (Kean University) Daniel Ricciardella - Associate's Degree in Exercise Science (Ocean County College) & Paramedic Certification (Ocean County College) Anthony Sarno - Bachelor's Degree in Developmental Psychology (Moravian College) & completing a Master's Degree in Human Resource Training and Development (Seton Hall University) Scott Keefe - Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice (Kean University) The hirings come after the loss of 9 full-time officers in the past 6 years. The new officers will graduate the police academy on September 19, 2013, then enter the department's Field Training Program. The Committee also voted to hire much needed part-time employees in the police department. Crime Alert – Tuesday, April 9, 2013 – Taylor Lane, Forked River (Southern Pines Section)
Theft - On Tuesday, April 9, 2013, a homeowner reported that between March 9, 2013 and April 9, 2013, unknown actor(s) stole the A/C compressor from the side of a home located on Taylor Lane in Forked River. The house is used only during the summer months and was vacant during the time period. The estimated value of the stolen compressor is $450.
Crime Alert – Monday, April 8, 2013 – Lacey Township
Credit Card Fraud - On Monday, April 8, 2013, a resident of Bayville reported credit card fraud that was facilitated in Lacey Township. The report involved the apparent use of personal identifiers to access the victim's store credit card account to purchase thousands of dollars in gift cards from that same store over the course of a month. The victim had a store credit account that was not commonly used by the victim. The person perpetrating the frauds was able to make multiple purchases of gift cards at the store over the course of a month. Frauds have become more frequently directed toward obtaining gift cards. The gift cards are often then sold at a fraction of their value at pawn shops. Residents are reminded to regularly check their credit accounts --- including those accounts that have are not commonly used.
