Department News – Lacey Municipal Police Foundation and Walmart Team Up to Surprise Families with Gift Cards – December 30, 2021
The above photo depicts Chief Michael C. DiBella (right) after providing a $50 gift card to a family on the evening of Wednesday, December 29, 2021. The gift cards were donated by the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation and Walmart of Lanoka Harbor. The Lacey Municipal Police Foundation, Walmart of Lanoka Harbor, and the Lacey Township Police Department, have once again teamed up this holiday season to help give back to our communities. Just like last year, 2021 has also been a very difficult year for a lot of families, and we wanted to make sure that we all did our part to try and make this holiday season just a little bit better for some of you. Over the past two weeks, Lacey Township Police Chief Michael C. DiBella and Walmart Manager Will Ferguson, along with Lacey Municipal Police Foundation Directors Dan Cortese and James Wioland, provided several $50 Walmart gift cards to random families as they paid for their merchandise at Walmart in Lacey Township. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – December 23 through December 29, 2021
Fraud- On Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 6:50 p.m., Wawa, 701 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, reported that counterfeit cash was discovered in their deposits. Management conveyed that two $100 bills were deemed counterfeit as they attempted to deposit them into an electronic safe. Surveillance video captured two suspects using the bills for a transaction. DUI- On Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 7:34 p.m., numerous 911 callers reported an erratic driver traveling east on Lacey Road. Officers located the vehicle at a Hillwood Road residence in Forked River, and identified the driver as John Hofer, 55. After being determined under the influence, Hofer was arrested and charged with several motor vehicle offenses including DUI, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, and Reckless Driving. Criminal Mischief- On Friday, December 24, 2021, at 11:48 p.m., officers responded to the Lacey Inn, 229 Route 9 North, Forked River, in reference to criminal mischief. Officer Dylan Emmett issued a summons to Brian Kelly, 43, after it was determined that he harassed a tenant by writing on the hotel room’s entry door. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – October 27 through November 3, 2022
DWI - On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 7:19 p.m., officers responded to the Wawa parking lot, Lacey Road, for a report of an intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, officers met with the driver, Brian Terranova, 47, of Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene revealed that Brian was driving while intoxicated. Brian was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed. Brian was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving, and released in accordance with John’s Law. DWI – On Friday, October 28, 2022, at 1:21 a.m., Officer Tamburro conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 for speeding. Officer Keefe responded to assist. Officers met with the driver, Sean Dupnak, 52, of Forked River. Investigation at the scene revealed that Sean was driving while intoxicated. Sean was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed. Sean was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Speeding, and released in accordance with John’s Law. Criminal Mischief / Theft – On Friday, October 21, 2022, at 7:44 a.m., Officer Carver responded to an Elwood Street residence to take a report of theft. Upon arrival, the complainant advised that sometime between 11:30 p.m. the previous evening and 6:50 a.m., someone cut the catalytic converter out from under their vehicle. The value of the damage and theft is estimated at $800.00. Shoplifting – On Friday, October 21, 2022, at 5:19 p.m., Officers Ricciardella and Carver responded to Walmart for a reported shoplifting. The store employee advised officers that they had observed a female attempt to leave the store without paying for $244.24 worth of merchandise. Officers met with the suspect, Maya Fennell, 24, of Toms River, and placed her under arrest. Maya was transported to police headquarters, charged with Shoplifting and released on a summons pending a future court appearance. DWI / Possession of CDS - On Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 1:33 p.m., officers responded to the Wawa parking lot, North Main Street, for a report of an unconscious male seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – October 13 through October 20, 2022
Disturbance / Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 4:21 p.m., officers responded to the Lacey Inn for a report of a disturbance between guests. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with Evan Pinney, 28, of Eagleswood. Evan was later found to have outstanding warrants originating out of the New Jersey State Police and Neptune City. Evan was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed on the warrants before being released on his own recognizance, pending future court appearances. Assist Other Agency / Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 10:56 p.m., Officers responded to a Ranger Drive residence at the request of the Warren Township Police Department to serve an arrest warrant. Upon their arrival, Officers met with the wanted person, James Zu, 60, of Warren. James was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. James was processed at headquarters before being transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility, without incident. Shoplifting – On Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 12:08 p.m., Officers Biel and Abrecht responded to Walmart for a reported shoplifting.
