Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – January 29, 2021 through February 4, 2021
Fire- On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 6:18 a.m., Officer John Simonson was dispatched to a Heatherington Court residence for an alarm. Members of the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department found that a fire had initiated at the home’s boiler that caused minimal damage. The Ocean County Fire Marshal deemed the fire not suspicious. Arrest- On Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 11:35 a.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. While there, it was determined that a patron, Robert Carsten, Jr., failed to scan merchandise and attempted to exit the store. Carsten, 57, was placed under arrest and later released pending a Court appearance. The items were valued at $52.30. Arrest- On Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 12:17 p.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio was dispatched to Walmart for a detained shoplifter. Asset Protection reported that a shopper did not scan all of the items to be purchased and attempted to exit the store. Sarah Kroeger, 34, was charged with Shoplifting and released on her own recognizance. The merchandise was valued at $90.25. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Woman’s Club of Lacey Inc. Makes Donation – February 3, 2021
The above photo depicts Lacey Police Chief Michael C. DiBella (center) being presented with a donation from the Woman's Club of Lacey Inc., on the afternoon of February 2nd, 2021. Chief DiBella accepted the donation on behalf of the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation. On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the Woman’s Club of Lacey Inc., including, Co-Presidents Shirley Houlihan and Beverly Keubler, along with members Lillis Campbell and Diane Ash, presented the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation with a check in the amount of $1000 to help support the Lacey Township Police Department’s body camera program. The check was accepted on behalf of the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation by Police Chief Michael C. DiBella. The donation will be used toward the on-going costs of the Police Department’s body camera program, including, but not limited to, the purchase of new body cameras. Thanks to the generous support of many local businesses, organizations, and residents, the Lacey Township Police Department was able to officially begin our body camera program in February 2020. Presently, all uniformed Patrol Sergeants and Police Officers are assigned and required to use their body camera during their shift. Weather Update – Lacey Township Police Department/Office of Emergency Management – Coastal Flood Warning
*** Coastal Flood Warning *** The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for 7am Monday morning, February 1st, 2021 through 5pm Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021. * WHAT...One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Middlesex, Western Monmouth, Eastern Monmouth, Ocean, Coastal Ocean and Southeastern Burlington. * WHEN...From 7 AM Monday to 5 PM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...At this level, widespread roadway flooding occurs in coastal and bayside communities and along inland tidal waterways. Many roads become impassable. Some damage to vulnerable structures may begin to occur. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS A Coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major tidal flooding is occurring or imminent. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs. Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at water.weather.gov/ahps for additional water level and flood impact information for your local tide gauge. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 12th through November 19th, 2020
Fraud- On Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 1:18 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota was dispatched to a Lanoka Harbor residence in reference to fraud. The victim reported that she received an email from “Defender Firewall” regarding a $299 purchase that she did not authorize. When she contacted the attached phone number she was told that her account was accidently reimbursed $2,999 and asked to refund the difference by purchasing gift cards. The amount of $2,999 was never credited to the victim’s bank account. DWI- On Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 8:36 a.m., Officer John Simonson was dispatched to Route 539 for a disabled vehicle. While speaking with the driver, Anastasia Zosko, it was determined that she was under the influence. Zosko was placed under arrest and ultimately released on her own recognizance pending a Court appearance. She was issued summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving. Theft- On Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 11:35 a.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio met with a business owner from the Lacey Business Park. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 5th through November 12th, 2020
DWI- On Friday, November 6, 2020, at 10:25 p.m., Officers Bruce Carver and Anthony Ravallo were dispatched to 7- Eleven on Lacey Road for an intoxicated subject. Prior to their arrival, the subject drove from the parking lot and was stopped on Lacey Road. The driver, John Sanabia, 52, was deemed under the influence and arrested. Sanabia was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Submit to Breath Tests. Arrest- On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at 12:12 a.m., Officer Bruce Carver was dispatched to Wawa, 701 Route 9, for a suspicious male in the bathroom. Officer Carver identified the subject as Joseph Izquierdo, 35, of Egg Harbor Township. During the interaction, an active warrant was located for Izquierdo leading to his arrest. Search incident to his arrest led to the discovery of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Izquierdo was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility after being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – October 29th through November 5th, 2020
DWI- On Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 6:01 p.m., Officer Bruce Carver conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lacey Road. During the stop it was determined that the driver, Francis Magliola, was under the influence. Magliola, 52, was arrested and charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Signal. He was released pending a Court appearance. Downed Wires- On Monday, November 2, 2020, at 10:21 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Shrike Court in reference to electrical wires in the street. Traffic was detoured for approximately one hour while power was restored. Fraud- On Monday, November 2, 2020, at 4:34 p.m., Officer Jason Lee met with a Forked River resident in reference to fraud. The caller reported that he purchased a vehicle part that he found posted on Facebook Market Place. Shortly after the purchase, the seller deleted the account and the victim was not able to make further contact with the seller. The purchase amount was $2,050.
