Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter – Press Release April 8th, thru April 14th, 2015
Shotgun Accident – On Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at 4:56 p.m., Officers Michael Eden and Noah Schaffer responded to Ground Swipers Rod and Gun Club, located at 1910 W. Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of an injury sustained by a firearm. Upon arrival, Officers learned that the victim, 67-year-old Robert C. Bishop of Pennington, NJ, was discharging his shotgun on the member firing range when it malfunctioned. As a result of the malfunction, the shotgun broke into several pieces ultimately striking the victim and causing a moderate injury to his inner left arm. The victim was alert and conscious throughout the incident. Lacey Township EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to Community Medical Center. Warrant Arrest – On Monday, April 13, 2015, at 6:20 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick was patrolling the area of Route 9 and First Street when he observed two suspicious persons walking behind the Lacey Liquors shopping plaza. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest 20-year-old Cody Collins of Eleanor Road in Forked River on an outstanding Berkeley Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350. Burglary and Thefts (Arrest) – On Thursday, April 16, 2015, Lacey Detectives arrested a 17-year-old male from Lanoka Harbor in connection with several crimes. The charges came after an April 10, 2015, burglary of a Birch Road home in Lanoka Harbor. The victim originally reported that his home was forcibly entered during the daytime hours. During the burglary, the actor(s) stole a 2015 Honda CRF 450 Motorcycle valued at $9,000. Interviews conducted in the neighborhood led to the recovery of the motorcycle in a wooded area and the identity of the suspect. As the investigation continued, a second stolen motorcycle was discovered at the juvenile suspect’s residence. That second motorcycle was stolen from a Bay Way residence in Lanoka Harbor in February of 2015. The juvenile male was charged with Burglary, Theft of Moveable Property, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Stolen Property. The juvenile was released to his mother pending a court appearance. Additional suspects are being sought as the investigation into similar thefts continues. Drug Possession and Warrants (Arrest) – On Monday, April 6, 2015, at 6:23 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins and Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the 100 block of Brick Avenue in Lanoka Harbor to serve two arrest warrants. Officers located the accused, 23-year-old Matthew J. Michota of Brick Avenue, and placed him under arrest on a Long Beach Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500 and a Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $884. In addition, Matthew J. Michota was found to be in possession of Heroin and Marijuana. Matthew Michota was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged on a criminal complaint with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail was set in the amount of $2,500. Matthew Michota was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail. Theft – On Monday, April 6, 2015, at 4:23 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to Haines Street East in Lanoka Harbor for a report of theft.
