Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter July 1st thru July 7th, 2015 . Motor Vehicle Accident (Fatal) - Sergeant Robert Flynn, Officer Jeffrey Slota, and Officer Jason Lee responded to Route 539 for a report of a fatal motor vehicle accident involving an additional victim with a significant head injury. Barnegat Township Police Department officers and emergency service personnel were on scene prior to the arrival of Lacey Township personnel. Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by 76-year-old Joseph Matthews of Robbinsville crossed the center line and was struck head on by a Borough of Surf City garbage truck operated by 28-year-old Brian Miller of Manahawkin. According to witnesses, an unknown aggressive driver was attempting to pass several vehicles, including the victim, and may be responsible for the resultant crash. The unknown vehicle fled the scene. Nancy Matthews, the wife of Joseph Matthews, was flown to Jersey Shore Trauma Center with head injuries. Officer Michael Verwey and Officer Adam Ewart of the Lacey Township Police Department Accident Response Team responded to the scene to work with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Criminal Investigation Unit in the follow-up investigation. Weekly Police Blotter June 23rd thru June 30th, 2015 . DUI (Arrest) - At 7:36 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, Officer Scott Keefe conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Lacey Road for speeding. The driver, 47-year-old William P. Snyder of Cable Avenue in Beachwood was arrested for DUI. William P. Snyder was transported to police headquarters, processed, and issued motor vehicle summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing, Speeding, and Reckless Driving. The vehicle being operated by William P. Snyder was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Warrant Arrest – On Monday, June 29, 2015, at 1:48 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop of a driver, identified as 34-year-old Amanda Malinowksi of Brentwood Place in Forked River, NJ, for outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued by the Lumberton Township Municipal Court in the amount of $750 and warrant number two (2) was issued by the Mount Laurel Township Municipal Court in the amount of $300. Amanda Malinowski was arrested, transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, and processed. Amanda Malinowski was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail. Community Event (Fireworks Display) – Friday, July 3rd, 2015 – At the Lacey Township High School
Community Event (Fireworks) - The Lacey Township fireworks display is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2015, at dusk on the grounds of the Lacey Township High School. Entertainment will begin on site at 7:30 p.m. and the fireworks will begin thereafter at dusk (approx. 9 pm). The Lacey Township Police Department, fire departments, and first aid squads will be working to maintain a safe event and to facilitate traffic before, during, and after the event. Parking along many portions of the shoulder of Haines Street will be restricted this year to maintain open emergency lanes and to limit the danger presented by an excessive number of pedestrians crossing Haines Street to access the high school property. Throughout the summer, the Lacey Township Police Department will be strictly enforcing the state law prohibiting possession and use of illegal fireworks. The department commonly receives complaints from residents regarding the illegal use of fireworks during the summer months.
