Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter October 13th thru October 19th, 2015 . Shoplifting & Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Monday, October 19, 2015, at 2:19 p.m., Lieutenant Michael DiBella was traveling west on Lacey Road, when he observed a vehicle driving erratically. Lieutenant DiBella stopped the vehicle on Lacey Road near Trenton Avenue. While investigating the incident, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had just fled from employees of Kohl’s, located at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River, NJ, after reportedly shoplifting two cameras and a GPS unit valued at approximately $400. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 30-year-old Christopher Wells of 286 Roosevelt Avenue in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting. Christopher was also found to be in possession of Heroin and drug paraphernalia. Christopher Wells was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and charged with Shoplifting, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Christopher Wells was also issued motor vehicle summonses for Tailgating, Failure to Signal, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded. Lacey Township Police Department News – Courtesy Child Seat Safety Inspection Event – Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Courtesy Child Seat Safety Inspection Event - The Lacey Township Police Department is hosting a courtesy (non-enforcement) Child Seat Safety Check at the Lanoka Harbor Fire House on Route 9 and Warren Avenue on Thursday, October 22, 2015. The event will be held rain or shine from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with no pre-registration required. Specially trained certified child seat technicians from the Lacey Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department will be on site to conduct a courtesy inspection of installed seats and to assist participants in the proper installation of child seats. The officers of the Lacey Township Police Department are dedicated to child safety. Over 80% of child safety seats currently installed in vehicles are either the wrong seats for the child being transported or are incorrectly installed. Technicians, dedicated to child safety, will assist not only in the inspection of the seats but will actually educate caregivers on the proper seat selection and installation. The event is being hosted by the Lacey Township Police Department with assistance from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department. Weekly Police Blotter October 6th thru October 12th, 2015 . DUI with Accident (Arrest) – On Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 9:20 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas and Officer Charles May responded to the 800 block of Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River for a report of a vehicle that struck and damaged a utility pole. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 48-year-old Joseph Y. Devlin of Forepeak Drive in Forked River, for DUI. Joseph Devlin was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and issued traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The road had to be closed for several hours while the utility pole was replaced and the wires were removed from the roadway. Power to the area was also out for several hours. No injuries were reported. The vehicle Joseph Devin was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
