Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 30th through December 7th, 2016
Shoplifting – On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 2:41 p.m., Officers Frederick Anderson and Jesse Dalziel responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 21-year-old Steven Koc of Vine Street in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $9.97. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Steven Koc was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting. DUI Arrest– On Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 9:50 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of an intoxicated driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 28-year-old James R. Smith of Buena Vista Road in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James R. Smith was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving and Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Department News – Lacey Township Police and Ocean County Sheriff Team up for Police Explorer Post – December 7, 2016
The Lacey Township Police Department is pleased to announce our new partnership with the Ocean County Sheriff's Office to bring our young adults the most advanced police explorer program available. The Police Explorer program is run through the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life program and is designed to provide exciting and challenging training, along with "on-the-job" experience for young adults who may be interested in a career in law enforcement. Police Explorers participate in many phases of Law enforcement work, but are NOT placed in dangerous situations. The Police Explorer program is an excellent way to become involved with the community while learning about a possible career in law enforcement! Several Law Enforcement Officers began their careers as police explorers. Partnering with the Ocean County Sheriff's Department is a win-win for Lacey Township's young adults, allowing the explorers to be involved in community events throughout Ocean County including Lacey Township. This opportunity allows the police explorers to make law enforcement contacts throughout Ocean County and New Jersey, providing them with an inside view of various law enforcement opportunities. Furthermore, partnering with the Sheriff's Office brings various specialties available to the police explorers, including but not limited to, interactions with the K-9 Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Marine Bureau. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – No-Shave November Update – December 1st, 2016
The above picture depicts the "No-Shave November" after-picture taken today, December 1st, 2016. The picture depicts representatives from the Lacey Township Police Department, along with members from each Emergency Services Organization. In addition, the photo includes Committeeman Gary Quinn and Community Development Director Christopher Reid. Members of the Lacey Township Police Department and local Emergency Services Volunteers broke protocol in November for a good cause. Lacey Township Police Officers, along with members from the Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, and Bamber Lakes Fire Departments, the Lacey Township and Lanoka Harbor EMS Squads, and members from the Lacey Township Dive Team, participated in “No Shave November” to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. The initiative started, November 1, 2016, and concluded yesterday, November 30, 2016. No-Shave November is a fundraiser in which people put down their razor in order to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. During the month of November 2016, residents in Lacey Township found some of their police officers and emergency services personnel to be on the “hairy side." Uniformed police officers and Emergency Services personnel were sporting beards and mustaches all in the name of fighting cancer.
