Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Shoplifting Arrest – On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 9:31 p.m., Martin Julian responded to the Wawa located at 800 Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of an adult male who took food items totaling $7.87 and left the store without paying. Further investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Dominick J. Degasperi of 7th Street, Waretown, New Jersey. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released on a criminal summons for shoplifting. Bicycle Theft – On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 4:18 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Bud Mezara Park, 1400 Lakeside Drive South, Forked River, for a report of a stolen bicycle. Investigation at the scene revealed that the victim had left her 26” Huffy Beach Cruiser, purple in color with a white seat and whitewall tires along with a silver helmet at the park while she went for a brief walk. When she returned to the park, her bicycle and helmet were gone. The bicycle is valued at $120 and the helmet is valued at $40, for a total of $160. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department Introduces Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D) Program to Our School Community – March 1st, 2017
As many of us are aware New Jersey is faced with the devastating effects of illicit drug use. Unfortunately, many of us in our community have seen the effects first hand. New proactive steps need to be taken to help stop the issues before they begin. The Lacey Township Police Department believes that education, awareness, and community involvement are crucial in aspiring our youth to become healthy, educated, and successful members of our schools and community. The Lacey Township Police Department is excited to announce that it has become part of the Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D.) program. Chief Michael C. DiBella and his officers have teamed up with the Lacey Township Mill Pond School Staff to facilitate a pilot L.E.A.D. program. The pilot program is taking place during a select portion of the 6th grade Health classes, during the third and fourth marking periods of the 2016-2017 school year. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Sergeant Promotions – February 23rd, 2017
The above photo depicts Police Officer Robert Flynn being sworn in to the position of Police Sergeant by Township Administrator/Municipal Clerk Veronica Laureigh, during the February 23rd, 2017 promotion ceremony. The members of the Lacey Township Police Department are proud to announce the promotion of three police officers to the rank of Sergeant on February 23rd, 2017. The first officer promoted was 16-year police veteran Robert Flynn, who for the prior two years has been serving as an Acting-Sergeant in patrol and administration. Sergeant Flynn received a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University in 1997 and a Master's degree from Seton Hall University in 2007. He served in the United States Army Reserves for eight years and was Honorably discharged in 2000. Sergeant R. Flynn has long distinguished himself as a conscientious and very hard worker. He is a member of both the Lacey Township Fatal and Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Support Teams. Sergeant Flynn has extensive training in crash investigtaions and is the only active police officer in Ocean County who is an accredited traffic accident reconstructionist (ACTAR). He is a member of the Ocean County Police Traffic Safety Officer's Association and a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
