*** UPDATE *** At 12:05 p.m. our missing male, David Wright, was located by First Responders, in the woods (Berkeley Township). He is alert and medically stable. Thank you to everyone who assisted. MISSING PERSON The Lacey Township Police Department, along with assisting agencies, are currently attempting to locate David Wright, 45, who had become lost during the early evening hours on Thursday, May 5, 2022. David’s last location is believed to be in the wooded area near Cedar Creek in the Lanoka Harbor section of Lacey Township, between Route 9 and Western Boulevard. Any information regarding the whereabouts of David, please contact the Lacey Township Police Department at 609-693-6636. Thank you.
Promotion to Sergeant
Promotion to Sergeant- On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Officer Michael Hein (pictured right) was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Hein is a lifelong resident of Lacey Township. He began his law enforcement career as a Correctional Police Officer, initially with the New Jersey Department of Corrections before moving on to the Ocean County Department of Corrections. In April 2013, Sergeant Hein was hired by the Lacey Township Police Department. He has an Associate’s Degree from Ocean County College, two Bachelor’s Degrees from Kean University, in Criminal Justice and Sociology, and a Master’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Public Administration. Congratulations Sergeant Hein, well deserved.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – February 3 through February 10, 2022
Shoplifting- On February 3, 2022, at 2:58 p.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio responded to Walmart in reference to an attempted theft. Loss Prevention reported that an adult male attempted to exit the store with items valued at $300 after avoiding the registers. When approached, the suspect dropped the items and ran. The suspect was described as a white male with facial tattoos. Video surveillance is being used to identify the actor. Arrest- On Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11:45 p.m., Officers Martin Julian and Randolph Plis were dispatched to Wawa, Lanoka Harbor, for a suspicious male. Once there, officers located the Atlantic City resident locked inside a bathroom stall. Investigation revealed that the suspect, who identified himself as Joshua Phillips, was in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. During his arrest, officers located multiple credit cards belonging to others. At headquarters, officers processed the arrestee and identified him as Joseph Allen, 41, who had an outstanding $25,000 warrant. Allen was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft of Credit Cards, and Hindering his own Apprehension. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – December 8 through December 15, 2022
Warrant Arrest - On Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 9:56 a.m., Officer Carver responded to police headquarters and met with Christopher Mahoney, 33, of Bayville, reference a previous incident. Christopher was found to have an active warrant originating out of the Howell Township Municipal Court, and was placed under arrest. Christopher was later turned over to the Howell Township Police Department, without incident. Shoplifting - On Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 4:44 p.m., Officers Biel and Tamburro responded to Walmart for a reported shoplifting. The store employee advised officers that they had observed a female attempt to leave the store without paying for $82.00 worth of merchandise. Officers met with the suspect, Jalissa Dejesus, 25, of Bayville, and placed her under arrest. Jalissa was transported to police headquarters, charged with Shoplifting, and released on a summons pending a future court appearance. DWI / Possession of CDS, Drug Paraphernalia - On Friday, December 9, 2022, at 02:50 a.m., Sergeant Hein conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Lacey Road for failure to maintain lane. DWI / Motor Vehicle Crash - On Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 7:16 p.m., Officer Keefe located a single car crash at the intersection of Lacey Road and Railroad Avenue. Officer Keefe met with the driver of the vehicle, Jennifer Knorr, 37, of Manahawkin. Investigation at the scene revealed that Jennifer was driving while intoxicated. Jennifer was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Jennifer was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Open Container, and released in accordance with John’s Law. Warrant Arrest - On Monday, December 5, 2022, at 9:55 p.m., Officer Ravallo responded to police headquarters to take a subject into custody who had turned themselves in on an active warrant. Upon his arrival, Officer Ravallo met with Luke Muzyka, 27, of Forked River. Luke was found to have an active warrant originating out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office. Luke was placed under arrest and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility, where he was lodged. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – November 24 through December 1, 2022
Assault / Obstructing the Administration of Law / Warrant Arrest – On Friday, November 25, 2022, at 6:40 p.m., officers responded to Lacey Liquors for a report of an assault. Upon their arrival, officers met with a store employee who advised that he was punched in the face by a customer, who left the area. Officers were initially unable to locate the suspect. A short time later, the suspect returned to the store, prompting the victim to contact this agency again. Upon their arrival, officers attempted to speak with the suspect, but he ran from them. Officers caught up with the suspect, Matthew Banks, 32, of Bayville, and placed him under arrest. Matthew was also found to a warrant originating out of the Berkeley Township Municipal Court. Matthew was transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with Simple Assault, Obstruction, and Refusal to Submit to Fingerprinting. Matthew was served with his copy of the warrant and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility, where he was lodged.
