Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Shoplifting – On Friday, March 17, 2017, at 12:54 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 47-year-old Michelle Weygand of Montauk Road in Forked River for shoplifting merchandise valued at $83. She was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. Michelle Weygand was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting. Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 9:38 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to Police Headquarters for a Criminal Mischief report. The victim reported that between the overnight hours of March 15, 2017 into March 16, 2017, an unknown person or persons damaged the driver’s side mirror on his vehicle that was parked on the 700 block of Baldwin Street in Forked River. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at $50. Fire (Vehicle) – On Monday, March 13, 2017, at 10:45 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the 200 block of Donald Street in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a vehicle fire. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Extra DUI Patrols for Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend
Extra DUI Enforcement for Saint Patrick's Day Weekend DUI Enforcement and Prevention remains a top priority for the Lacey Township Police Department. The danger presented to the public by motorists who choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is too often realized through a tragic motor vehicle collision. Beginning tomorrow evening, March 17, 2017 (Saint Patrick's Day) the Lacey Township Police Department will be conducting additional DUI patrols for Saint Patrick's Day weekend. Stealth-type marked vehicles will be utilized to conduct the patrols. Specifically dedicated Drunk Driving Enforcement Funds (DDEF Grant) allows for these additional DUI enforcement patrols. The intent of these extra DUI patrols are to make the roadways in Lacey Township as safe as possible for the motoring public. There is zero tolerance in Lacey Township for operating a motor vehicle while DUI. If drivers are caught operating their vehicle while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol they will be arrested. A first-offense DUI conviction will result in severe penalties, including but not limited to: a driver's license suspension and fines, along with potential towing and impound fees as a result of John's Law. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – March 10th’s Red Night Out and Lacey Township’s Public Safety Announcement
The above picture depicts Lacey Township Police Chief Michael C. DiBella presenting on the heroin epidemic during the Red Night Out event held at the Lacey Township High School on the evening of March 10th, 2017. This year's Red Night Out event was a true success. The evening began at 6:00 p.m. with dinner in the cafeteria (provided by the Lacey Township Municipal Alliance). The dinner was provided through donations and served by members of several local school parent groups including the Cedar Creek PTA, Forked River PTA, Lanoka Harbor PTO, Mill Pond PTA, Middle School PTC, and the High School PTSA. In addition, informational tables were on display from numerous organizations including but not limited to the Lacey Township Police Department, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department, Young People in Recovery of Ocean County, Barnabas Health DART Coalition, Hope Sheds Light, New Jersey Parents Support Group, Lacey Township Municipal Alliance Task Force, The Home Depot, the Maximilian Foundation, Cheryl A. Byk Counseling Associates and Ocean Mental Health.
