Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Gille Park Skate Park Evening Event – Friday, September 8th, 2017
Gille Park Skate Park Evening Event Scheduled for Friday, September 8th, 2017. The next Gille Park Skate Park Evening event will be held Friday night, September 8th, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The skate park will be open from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 pm, with a live DJ playing music. Lighting will be provided by the Lacey Township Police Department with assistance from both the Forked River and Lanoka Harbor Fire Departments. In addition, both the Lacey Township EMS and Lanoka Harbor EMS will be on scene. The Lacey Municipal Police Foundation and the Lacey Township Municipal Alliance have partnered together to bring a mobile gaming trailer to this event. The mobile gaming trailer will be provided by "Party Crashers" and will be at the skate park from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Age appropriate games will be available to the kids. The "Party Crashers" mobile gaming trailer participated in last year's Lacey Day Event, and has participated in numerous events throughout Ocean County. The skate park is specifically for the use of skateboards, scooters, and in-line skates. Bicycles are not permitted. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Courtesy Child Seat Safety Inspections
Courtesy Child Seat Safety Inspections– The Lacey Township Police Department will continue to offer Courtesy Child Seat Safety inspections at the Lacey Township Police Department, 808 W. Lacey Road in Forked River. However, we will no longer be hosting monthly checkpoints at Lanoka Harbor Fire Department until Spring 2018. Specially trained certified child seat technicians from the Lacey Township Police Department will be available by appointment to conduct courtesy child seat inspections of installed seats and to assist participants in the proper installation of child seats. The officers of the Lacey Township Police Department are dedicated to child safety. Over 80% of child safety seats currently installed in vehicles are either the wrong seats for the child being transported or are incorrectly installed. Technicians, will assist not only in the inspection of the seats but will also educate caregivers on the proper seat selection and installation. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Officer Michael Verwey Receives Jason Marles D.W.I. Award on August 19th, 2017
The above photo depicts Lacey Police Officer Michael Verwey being presented with the 7th Annual Jason Marles D.W.I. Award by Lacey Police Lieutenant Vincent Meehan during the ceremony held at the First Energy Park on the evening of August 19, 2017. On Saturday, August 19, 2017, Lacey Township Police Officer Michael Verwey was awarded the 7th Annual Jason Marles D.W.I. Award presented by the Ocean County Traffic Safety Officer’s Association. The ceremony took place at First Energy Park in Lakewood, NJ. The Jason Marles award recognizes law enforcement officers who go above and beyond in their commitment to getting intoxicated drivers off of our roadways. Officer Jason Marles had completed working a D.W.I. Enforcement shift Thanksgiving morning in 2010, and on his way home he was struck by an intoxicated driver and killed while on the Garden State Parkway. Each year the Ocean County Traffic Safety Officer’s Association honors the memory of Jason Marles by awarding one police officer from Ocean County with this award. Additional officers who were nominated for this award received a certificate recognizing their efforts to make our roadways safer for everyone. Weekly Police Blotter - Press Release October 29, 2013 thru November 4th, 2013 . . Theft – On Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 1:35 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick and Anthony Sarno responded to the CVS, 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a theft. The victim reported that on September 20, 2013, between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., while she was working in the store, an unknown person or persons stole her white-gold diamond ring, valued at $1,200. The victim reported that she removed the ring for work purposes and when she went to retrieve it, it was missing. Theft – On Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 2:19 a.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Kent Drive in Forked River for a theft. The victim reported that on October 30, 2013, between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., an unknown person or persons stole her three foot tall gray “Geisha Girl” concrete lawn ornament valued at $200 from the front lawn of her residence. Stabbing/Slashing – Aggravated Assault – Forked River House, Rt. 9, Forked River – Sunday, November 3, 2013
The Lacey Township Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance regarding the facts surrounding the stabbing/slashing incident which occurred at the Forked River House just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013. During a large brawl that extended from inside the building out into the parking lot, 21-year-old Saul Garcia from Whitesville Road in Jackson (formerly of Lakewood) was stabbed through the forearm with a large knife and lacerated up toward the elbow. Saul Garcia was transported to Community Medical Center then flown to Jersey Shore Trauma Center. Upon receiving the 911 call for assistance from a female caller at 2:21 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013, officers arrived at the Forked River House to find well over 100 people engaged in fighting and aggressive behavior in the parking lot. The Ocean Township (Waretown) Police Department and the Berkeley Township Police Department were called upon to assist with the unruly and hostile crowd. While dealing with the hostile crowd in the parking lot, officers learned that a stabbing victim was incapacitated within the building. Weekly Police Blotter - Press Release October 22, 2013 thru October 28, 2013 . . Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Detectives Robert Surtees and Brian Flynn were checking the wooded area behind the 200 block of Route 9 South. While checking the area, the detectives observed two male juveniles in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. One of the subjects was a 16-year-old male and the second subject was a 14-year-old male. They were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. Each was charged on juvenile complaints with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released to a parent. Both juveniles were from Forked River. Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 7:58 a.m., Officer Alan Abrecht responded to the 1200 block of Taylor Lane in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that during the overnight hours of October 23, 2013, an unknown person or persons damaged her mailbox and post. The damage is estimated at $75.
