Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter January 26th – February 1 st, 2018
Theft- On Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 5:09 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to Charlie Brown’s Fresh Grill, 121 Route 9, Forked River. The manager of the restaurant reported that a patron left without satisfying the bill for approximately $25.00. The suspect left the restaurant in a vehicle. The incident remains under investigation. Shoplifting Arrest – On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 5:53 p.m., Officers Michael Hein and Julie Barcalow responded to Walmart on Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 45 year old Steven S. Hawk of Hickory Lane, Bayville, NJ. Steven S. Hawk was observed concealing Donruss Elite NFL Trading Cards, valued at $29.98, in his pants and then exited through the front door bypassing the checkout registers. Steven S. Hawk was also found to be in possession of 17 Xanex pills. Steven S. Hawk was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after being charged on a criminal summons with shoplifting and possession of CDS. Breaking News: Man arrested in connection to a string of car burglaries in the township
During the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 30, 2018, Lacey Detectives assisted by members of Ocean County SWAT and the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau, executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Norwood Street, Forked River, NJ. The suspect arrested was identified as 47-year-old Lance Romano who is currently renting a room in the home. The arrest stemmed from an ongoing investigation that started some months back in the summer of 2017. Early in the summer of 2017 local residents reported numerous vehicle burglaries occurring in the Barnegat Pines portion of the township. Many of the incidents were consistent and assumed to be committed by the same suspect. As the investigation continued, focus was placed on Romano as the suspect involved. Lance Romano was charged with eight counts of burglary and seven counts of theft. He was released on his own recognizance in accordance with bail reform. Detectives anticipate returning numerous pieces of stolen property to their owners.

DUI & Possession of CDS – On Thursday, January 18, 2018, at 7:48 p.m. Officer Jesse Dalziel responded to the intersection of Route 9 and Beach Boulevard in Forked River for a two-car motor vehicle collision. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 35-year-old David Kuncken Jr. of Key West Drive in Forked River, NJ, for DUI and Possession of CDS. David Kuncken Jr. was transported to Lacey Township Police headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples. David Kuncken Jr. was also charged with Possession of 50 grams or Less of Marijuana. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Burglary (Auto) – On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at 7:41 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 1300 block of Leguene Avenue in Forked River for a report of burglary. The victim reported that some person(s) entered his vehicle between 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, and 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 and rummaged through the glove box. Additional Burglary Charges – As reported previously, 26-year-old Melanie Callari of 418 Penn Avenue North in Forked River was arrested on Monday, June 2, 2014, for Burglary and Theft. Melanie Callari was committed to the Ocean County Correctional Facility. Continuing investigation by Lacey Township detectives has resulted in Melanie Callari being charged on Monday, June 9, 2014, with four additional residential burglaries. Detectives were able to match jewelry pawned in Atlantic City to various burglaries committed in Lacey Township. Bail on the additional charges was set at $50,000 as Melanie Callari remains committed to the Ocean County Correctional Facility. Property from the various burglaries was recovered and returned to the victims. Theft – On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 12:43 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to Bicycles Unlimited, 407 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of theft. Weekly Police Blotter - Press Release May 27th, 2014 thru June 2nd, 2014 . . Theft – On Monday, June 2, 2014, at 6:46 p.m., Officer Adam Ewart responded to the Kohls store located at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River for a theft report (Non-shoplifting). The victim reported that she was shopping at Kohl’s and left at approximately 6:20 p.m. After returning her shopping cart and preparing to walk to her car, she realized that she left her Coach wallet containing $100 in cash, credit cards, and her car keys in the shopping cart. When the victim returned to the shopping cart area the items were missing. The victim notified the store manager who reviewed the video surveillance. The video revealed that shortly after the victim returned her shopping cart, an unknown adult female used the same shopping cart to shop in the store. The unknown female was later observed walking the cart to her vehicle in the parking lot and placing the items inside her vehicle. The unknown female left the parking lot with the wallet and keys. The vehicle that the female left in is described as a silver or grey mid 90’s Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. [...]
Breaking News – Arrests – Multiple Burglaries – Lacey Township Police Department – Monday, June 2, 2014
Breaking News - The Lacey Township Police Department has been investigating a series of residential burglaries that have occurred throughout the township over the past two months. While burglaries are regularly reported to the police department, most often, the reported home entries and thefts are quickly resolved as being thefts committed by family members, friends, or associates of the reporting party. The most recent series of burglaries differ in that it appears the criminal(s) committing the unlawful home entries and thefts may not have any association with the victims. Each of the burglaries has involved the offender accessing the home through an open window or through actually prying open a door or window while the families are not home during weekday, daytime hours. The officers and detectives of the Lacey Township Police Department have been proactively pursuing all leads and working with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) to identify suspects.
