Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. DWI with Accident – On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 12:55 a.m., Officers Michael Baldasari and Brian Holt responded to Kent Drive in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 35-year-old Erik W. Quist of Sweetwood Drive, Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed. Erik Quist received motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Warrant Arrests – On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 9:04 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to police headquarters for a subject turning himself in on two outstanding warrants. The first, a criminal warrant out of the Lacey Township Municipal Court, was in the amount of $2500. The second, a traffic warrant out of Ship Bottom Municipal Court, was in the amount of $350. After posting bail, the subject, 47-year-old Joseph J. Ulrich of Oakwood Drive, Forked River, was released without incident. Lacey 5k- August 25th, 2018-Traffic Alert/Anticipated Road Closures/Recycling Yard Delayed Opening
The annual Lacey 5k race is scheduled for Saturday August 25, 2018 at 8:30 am. The race will begin in Gille Park. To facilitate the race, portions of Veteran’s Way, Municipal Lane, Calvin Street, and Newark Avenue (north of Lacey Road) will be closed from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Special Police Officers will be on scene assisting with traffic. Additionally, the Lacey Township DPW recycling yard will be opening at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Please plan accordingly.

Motor Vehicle Theft/Recovery/Arrest – On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 1:14 p.m., Officer Michael Hutman responded to the 400 block of Drew Avenue, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant stated that a female acquaintance of his son had taken the keys to his son’s vehicle while he was at work and left the residence with it without authorization or permission. On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 2:14 p.m., this agency was contacted by the Pleasantville Police Department who had conducted a motor vehicle stop on the stolen vehicle and had the driver in custody. The suspect, 19-year-old Samirah L. Wilson, North Arkansas Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey, was turned over to our agency. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, served with a criminal complaint warrant for Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and was then transported to the Ocean County Jail. CDS Arrest – On Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 6:03 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow conducted a motor vehicle stop at Parker Avenue and Mill Street, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, 27-year-old John R. Moore, of Vath Street, Jackson, New Jersey, for possession of CDS. [...]
Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin (Arrest) – Lacey Township Police Department – Friday, October 23, 2015
Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin (Arrest) - On Thursday, October 22, 2015, Officer Anthony Sarno was conducting an investigation into the possible possession and distribution of Heroin when he observed 47-year-old Edward F. Smith standing on the corner of Greenwood Lane and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. Officer Sarno was aware of an outstanding arrest warrant for Edward Smith out of New York State with a full extradition order. Officer Sarno approached Edward Smith while Edward Smith was talking on a cellular phone. Upon seeing Officer Sarno, Edward Smith began to run from the uniformed officer. As Officer Sarno ran after Edward Smith, the officer observed Edward Smith throwing items onto the lawn of a residence along the 200 block of Sunrise Boulevard. The items were recovered and determined to be packets of Heroin. Edward Smith was apprehended by Officer Sarno. Edward Smith initially resisted arrest and was quickly restrained. Officer Michael Verwey responded and assisted with the arrest. Once Edward Smith was under arrest and in custody, the officers recovered 330 bags of Heroin. Lacey Township EMS was called to the scene, and Edward F. Smith was transported under guard to the Community Medical Center in Toms River after complaining of not feeling well. Maintaining and Operating a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Production Facility (Arrest) – Lacey Township Police Department – Friday, October 23, 2015
Maintaining and Operating a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Production Facility (Arrest) - On October 21, 2015, detectives of the Lacey Township Police Department concluded an investigation involving a Marijuana grow in a wooded area of Lacey Township near the Manchester Township border. The investigation led to a suspect being identified as Brian Keough of South Toms River. A search warrant was sought and obtained for a search of his home at 406 Dover Road, South Toms River, NJ. During the execution of the search warrant, detectives recovered more than 25 Marijuana plants, a large quantity of raw Marijuana, and assorted equipment and paraphernalia associated with operating and maintaining a controlled dangerous substance production facility, including grow tents, grow lights and ballasts, seeds, fertilizer, packaging materials, and scales. The target residence was located directly across the street from the South Toms River Elementary School. Brian T. Keough, age 33, of 406 Dover Road, South Toms River, NJ, was arrested at the scene and charged with the following crimes: Maintaining and Operating a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Production Facility (1st Degree) Manufacturing & Possessing with the Intent to Distribute CDS (2nd Degree) Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS within 1000 feet of a School (3rd Degree) [...]

Weekly Police Blotter October 13th thru October 19th, 2015 . Shoplifting & Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Monday, October 19, 2015, at 2:19 p.m., Lieutenant Michael DiBella was traveling west on Lacey Road, when he observed a vehicle driving erratically. Lieutenant DiBella stopped the vehicle on Lacey Road near Trenton Avenue. While investigating the incident, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had just fled from employees of Kohl’s, located at 304 Route 9 North in Forked River, NJ, after reportedly shoplifting two cameras and a GPS unit valued at approximately $400. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 30-year-old Christopher Wells of 286 Roosevelt Avenue in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting. Christopher was also found to be in possession of Heroin and drug paraphernalia. Christopher Wells was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and charged with Shoplifting, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Christopher Wells was also issued motor vehicle summonses for Tailgating, Failure to Signal, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded.
