Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – October 26th, 2018 through November 2nd, 2018
DWI Arrest – On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, Officers Michael Hein and Dan Ricciardella responded to the 800 block of Spar Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 74-year-old Patricia A. Borbely of Wave Drive, Forked River, for DUI. Patricia Borbely was transported to police headquarters and processed. She received motor vehicle summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Test, and Reckless Driving. Her vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Fraud – On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 6:14 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to police headquarters to take a report of computer fraud. The victim stated on October 30, 2018, while she was using her computer, she received an automated message stating there was a malware virus on her computer and she needed to click the link and call a contact telephone number for further instructions. After calling the provided number, she was advised to purchase two Google Play gift cards from any local convenience store in the amount of $500 each and provide the pin numbers on the back. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Lacey Police and Local Emergency Services to Participate in No-Shave November 2018
The above photo depicts (in no particular order) members of the Lacey Township Police Department and our local emergency services during the 2018 No-Shave November "Before Photo." Mayor Nicholas Juliano was also present. Members of the Lacey Township Police Department and local Emergency Services Volunteers will once again be breaking protocol for a good cause. Lacey Township Police Officers, along with members from the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, Bamber Lakes Fire Department, Lanoka Harbor EMS and the Lacey Township Dive Team, will be participating in “No Shave November” to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. The initiative will begin on November 1st and conclude on November 30th, 2018. No-Shave November is a fundraiser in which people put down their razor in order to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. Residents in Lacey Township will find some of their police officers and emergency service personnel to be on the “hairy side” during the month of November. For example, you may see uniformed police officers sporting beards and mustaches, all in the name of fighting cancer. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Reminder to Use Internet Purchase Safe Zone – October 30, 2018
The above photo depicts the "Internet Purchase Safe Zone" sign posted in the front parking lot of the Lacey Township Police Department. On March 24, 2017, the Lacey Township Police Department began its Internet Purchase Safe Zone, where citizens have a safe place to make transactions as a result of on-line purchases, for example Craigslist. The Safe Zone was created to provide a safe location for buyers and sellers to complete their transactions, while at the same time protecting the citizens (buyers and sellers) of Lacey Township from incidents such as Thefts and Scams. The Internet Purchase Safe Zone has been arranged in the front parking lot of the Lacey Township Police Department, located at 808 W. Lacey Road in Forked River. The parking lot is well-lit and continuously monitored by surveillance cameras. Two designated spaces in the front parking lot are marked with signs that state "Internet Purchase Safe Zone." Respectfully, the Lacey Township Police Officers/Employees will not be participating in the transactions or able to act as witnesses. Weekly Police Blotter May 4th thru May 10th, 2016 . . Escapee Captured – On Monday, May 9, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., Detective Keith Pearce was assigned to a fixed surveillance position at the Forked River Rest Area of the Garden State Parkway in the event the escapee, Arthur Buckel, was either hiding in the area or might possibly return to the area. While Detective Pearce was at the post with K-9 Officer Daniel Rotundo from the New Jersey Department of Corrections, a passing motorist reported possibly seeing a person in the woods along the northbound lane on the east side of the roadway at MM 76.5 in Lacey Township. Detective Keith Pearce responded immediately to the location near the rest stop and held the subject at gun point. With the assistance of the New Jersey Department of Corrections Officer, escapee Arthur Buckel was taken into custody without resistance. He was immediately turned over to state officials at the scene and was transported to the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, NJ. Weekly Police Blotter April 26th thru May 3rd, 2016 . . DUI (Arrest) - On Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 1:51 a.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to Wawa, 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, in reference to a report of an intoxicated driver parked at the gas pumps. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Christopher B. Molla of Anchor Avenue in Manahawkin, NJ, for DUI. Christopher Molla was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Exhibit Insurance card. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. DUI (Arrest) - On Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 12:41 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle on Lacey Road near Arlington Avenue in the Barnegat Pines section of the Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Marcela Diemer of Williams Street in Forked River, NJ, for DUI. Marcela Diemer was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. Weekly Police Blotter April 19th thru April 25th, 2016 . . Burglary (Arrest) – On Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 4:36 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to 1006 Tampa Road in the Forked River Beach section of Forked River for a report of a Burglary. The victim reported that between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on April 23, 2016, an unknown person kicked in the side door of the residence and stole approximately $6,000 worth of items from inside. The stolen items included a Playstation 4, 2 Playstation controllers, 40 Playstation games, 80 DVD/Blue Ray’s, a gold necklace, and a Quartz watch. Detective Keith Pearce responded to the scene and initiated the follow-up investigation. The same house was previously burglarized on March 3, 2016, with a report that $3,500 in cash was stolen. The investigation by Detective Keith Pearce led to the arrest of 34-year-old Robert Goffio of 1205 Ocean Street in Forked River on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Robert Goffio, an associate of the victim, was charged after he was found in possession of specific pieces of jewelry stolen during the entries. Goffio was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of $20,000 bail. His charges include two counts each of [...]
