Officers Investigate Carjacking- October 11, 2021
On Sunday, October 10, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Officers Michael Hyle and Scott Keefe responded to the area of Lacey Road and Arlington Avenue for a report of a vehicle left in the middle of the road. The vehicle was described as a white BMW SUV with extensive damage and no one around it. Officers discovered that the BMW was reported stolen from Muttonville, New York. A witness described that two male subjects exited the BMW and approached him for help. The witness felt unsafe and drove away without further contact. While officers were investigating the first incident, Officer Patrick Watkins was flagged down in the parking lot of Wawa, 800 Lacey Road, by a subject claiming that her vehicle was just stolen. Investigation at the scene discovered that two subjects came upon an adult male who was sitting in his Lincoln MKZ in the Wawa lot. One of the suspects demanded that the male exit his car and began pulling at his shirt from the open window. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Alamo GA Police Officer Ambushed During His First Shift- October 11, 2021
On Saturday morning, October 9, 2021. at approximately 1:00 A.M. , 26-year old Police Officer Dylan Harrison was shot and killed outside of the Alamo Georgia Police Department in an ambush style attack that was committed in retaliation for an arrest he made earlier during his shift. After the ambush, the suspect fled, but has since been apprehended and charged with Officer Harrison’s murder. Officer Dylan Harrison is survived by his wife and 6-month-old son. Our sincerest thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of Officer Dylan Harrison.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – September 30 through October 7, 2021
Theft- On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 3:01 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 N, to meet with asset protection regarding a theft of money from a cash register involving an employee. Officer Baldasari’s investigation revealed Juana Martinez, 19, had stolen a total of $485.00 over the course of a few days. Juana Martinez was placed under arrest for the theft and released on a summons. Theft- On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 6:41 p.m., Officer Michael Hyle responded to Ralph’s Italian Ice for a theft report. The owner reported that someone had stolen money out of the tip jar. Investigation revealed the identity of the suspect as Marie Ortiz, 35. Officer Hyle and Officer Keefe located Marie Ortiz who admitted to the theft. Marie Ortiz was issued a special complaint for theft of approximately $19.00. Fire- On Friday, October 1, 2021, at 5:28 p.m., Officers responded to a wooded area behind a Nautilus Boulevard residence for a report of a brush fire. Upon arrival, officers observed logs and brush smoldering. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire without any further damage. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 2 through June 9, 2022
DWI/Hit and Run Crash- On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 6:27 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Sea Bright Road and Clearwater Drive, for a report of a motor vehicle crash (hit and run). The caller reported that a vehicle crashed into a tree and left the scene. The vehicle was later located a short distance away. Officers identified the driver, Jeremy Hofer, 25, of Beach Boulevard. Investigation at the scene revealed that Jeremy had been driving while intoxicated. Jeremy was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters, where he was processed. Jeremy was issued several motor vehicle summons including DWI, Reckless Driving Failure to Maintain Lane, Suspended Registration, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Report an Accident, and Open Container. Jeremy was later released pursuant to John’s Law. Shoplifting- On Friday, June 3, 2022, at 7:16 p.m., Officer Hyle responded to Walmart for a report of a male subject who was shoplifting. Upon arrival, Officer Hyle met with the Assistant Manager who pointed out the suspect, Robert J. Thomas, 41, of Jackson, NJ. Investigation at the scene revealed that Robert utilized a pocket knife to open packages, then conceal them on his person. [...]
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 26 through June 2, 2022
Criminal Mischief- On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10:03 p.m., while closing the Gille Park, Officer Hyle located graffiti in both the men’s and women’s bathroom near the softball field. The estimated value in damage was $50.00. Criminal Mischief- On Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:06 p.m., while closing the Gille Park, SLEO II Lepeshko observed graffiti in the men’s bathroom closest to the lacrosse/softball fields. The estimated value in damage was $50.00. Shoplifting- On Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 1:58 p.m., Officer Ricciardella responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival Officer Ricciardella met with Loss Prevention who indicated Jennifer Frazer, 39, of Forked River, had concealed items in her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. The total theft amounted to $367.84. Jennifer was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was processed. Jennifer was charged on a summons and released. Thef/Forgery- On Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 7:09 p.m., Officer Walsh responded to the Lacey Shell for a report of a theft of gasoline. Upon arrival, the gas attendant stated an unknown male subject paid for a small quantity of gasoline using a counterfeit $100 bill. [...]
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – May 19 through May 26, 2022
DWI- On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:12 p.m. Officer Emmett responded to the Ocean County Library, 10 East Lacey Road, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, Officer Emmett located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Library and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Officer Emmett made contact with the driver, Margaret Elsenback (57) of 1673 Woodland Road, and observed symptoms of alcohol impairment. At the conclusion of the investigation, Margaret was arrested for DWI. She was transported to police headquarters for processing. Margaret was later issued summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving and released in accordance with John’s Law. DWI- On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Simonson and Officer Calhoun responded to Manhattan Bagel for a report of an unconscious female slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. Upon arrival Officer Calhoun located Sylwia Kalinowska (36), of Seaside Park, unconscious while behind the wheel of her running vehicle. Officers also observed her foot on the brake pedal and the vehicle was in drive. Officers later administered two doses of Naloxone and provided rescue breaths, which caused Sylwia to regain consciousness. Sylwia was displaying symptoms of opiate use and refused medical [...]
