Code Red Reverse 911 Emergency Alert Registration
Lacey Township residents are encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 notifications through Onsolve CodeRed on their cellular telephones. Click here to be taken to the account access page. The police department utilizes the Reverse 9-1-1 system to send out important telephone messages to residents based on the geographic location of each resident’s home telephone. While land-line, home and business telephones are already in the system’s database, cellular phone numbers are not in the system. This feature allows residents to register additional phone numbers in the Onsolve CodeRed system, so an emergency message related to Lacey Township will be received regardless of the resident’s location at the time. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Investigation Leads to Heroin and Cocaine Arrests – December 21, 2018
*** Investigation Leads to Heroin and Cocaine Arrests *** The Lacey Township Police Department's Narcotics Enforcement Unit conducted a several month investigation into the distribution and possession of narcotics within Lacey Township. On December 8, 2018, Lacey Police Detectives, assisted by Detectives from the Berkeley Township and Ocean Gate Police Departments, conducted a motor vehicle stop in Lacey Township on a 2003 Ford Explorer. The Ford Explorer was occupied by the driver, 49-year-old Veronica Gasmen, and the passenger, 45-year-old Ned Berwanger, both residing on the 800 block of Oxgoose drive in Lanoka Harbor. The two subjects were arrested and found to be in possession of over 600 wax folds containing a substance indicative of Heroin, along with a quantity of cocaine, and a quantity of crack cocaine. A search of Veronica Gasmen’s residence produced an additional quantity of cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia consistent with the packaging and distribution of narcotics. Both Veronica Gasmen and Ned Berwanger were charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Animal Incident Remains Under Investigation – December 21, 2018
On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the Lacey Township Police Department provided a news release regarding an online video recording containing the death of a Raccoon in Lacey Township. Since then we have received several inquires as to the status of the investigation. I would like to inform everyone that the investigation is still ongoing. The Lacey Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife are working together on this matter. An updated news release will be forthcoming upon conclusion of the investigation. Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Traffic Alert – Lacey Road and Garden State Parkway Overpass
*** Traffic Update – Lacey Road and the Garden State Parkway Overpass *** On Wednesday morning, December 19, 2018, this agency responded to a motor vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound at the parkway overpass bridge for Lacey Township. As a result of the crash, a beam located on the north side (Garden State Parkway northbound) of the overpass bridge was damaged. As a result of the damage, the traffic pattern for the Lacey Road overpass bridge has been changed pending repair of the damage. The original traffic pattern allowed for one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes over the bridge. The new pattern only allows for one eastbound lane and one westbound lane. Therefore, expect traffic delays, especially during times of commute. In addition, drivers utilizing the southbound exit for Lacey Road should be aware that once they go through the toll booth and approach Lacey Road they will now be required to stop at a stop sign before turning East onto Lacey Road. Drivers entering Lacey Road in this area should exercise extreme caution as there will be only one eastbound lane of travel and motorists will be merging with existing eastbound Lacey Road traffic. Burglary and Drug Paraphernalia Arrest - On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 7:23 p.m., Officers Martin Julian and Jeffrey Slota responded to the 1200 block of Clearview Street in Forked River, for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival the responding officers discovered an open rear window. Officers entered the residence and located 23-year-old James C. DeCarlo of Spruce Street in Forked River inside the vacant residence. While inside the residence, James DeCarlo was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters. James DeCarlo was released after receiving criminal summonses for Burglary, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at 5:49 p.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to Bobwhite Court in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between Saturday evening, September 17, 2016, and Monday afternoon, September 19, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered her residence and stole her wedding ring valued at $3100. Warrant Arrest - On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 9:53 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to a residence located on the 100 block of Lakeside Drive East in Forked River for a public assist. While at the residence, Officer Keefe learned that one of the occupants, 29-year-old David P. Hynes, Jr., of Llewellyn Parkway in Forked River, had an outstanding Brick Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $152.00. David Hynes, Jr., was arrested on the warrant and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released ROR by the Brick Township Municipal Court. Warrant Arrest - On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 8:58 a.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and John D. Simonson responded to the 400 block of Lake Barnegat Drive in Forked River to serve a warrant. Upon arrival the Officers met with 23-year-old Christopher M. Pereira of Lake Barnegat Drive and placed him under arrest for two outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $500.00, and warrant number two (2) was issued by the Toms River Municipal Court in the amount of $400.00. Lewdness and Warrant Arrest- On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 7:39 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Anthony Sarno responded to the 100 block of Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of a Lewdness. Investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of 22-year-old Joshua Dixon of Route 9 South in Forked River for Lewdness. During the investigation, it was also learned that Joshua Dixon had (2) two outstanding warrants, one (1) from the Point Pleasant Beach Municipal Court in the amount of $776.00 and one (1) from the Beachwood Boro Municipal Court in the amount of $536.00. Joshua Dixon was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with one count of Lewdness with bail set in the amount of $1500.00 with no 10 percent. Joshua Dixon was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail. Drug Arrest - On Wednesday evening, September 7, 2016, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Lacey Township Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, led by Detective Lieutenant Christopher Cornelius, executed a residential search warrant on the 700 block of Eagleswood Place in Forked River, NJ.
