Police Officer – Regular, full-time police officer positions are hired from the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) list. The State of New Jersey handles the application and testing process, as the Lacey Township Police Department is governed by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission regulations.

Those interested in seeking a police officer position with the Lacey Township Police Department must apply for the New Jersey Civil Service Commission examination and then sit for the competitive examination thereafter. Once the statewide examination is administered, the NJCSC will provide Lacey Township with a hiring list from which applicants are screened and selected.

Class I Special Law Enforcement Officer – The Lacey Township Police Department accepts applications for the position of Class I Special Law Enforcement Officer from applicants who have completed the Police Training Commission (PTC) required certification training. The applications are considered for the calendar year they are submitted in the event vacancies open during that year. Short form applications may be obtained through the Lacey Township Municipal Clerk’s Office and submitted to the Lacey Township Police Department.

 

Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer – The Lacey Township Police Department accepts applications for the position of Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer from applicants who have completed the Police Training Commission (PTC) required certification training. The applications are considered for the calendar year they are submitted in the event vacancies open during that year. Short form applications may be obtained through the Lacey Township Municipal Clerk’s Office and submitted to the Lacey Township Police Department.

 

Public Safety Telecommunicator – The Lacey Township Police Department accepts applications for the position of Public Safety Telecommunicator (Police Dispatcher) from applicants who have completed the required EMD-Basic Course, Basic Telecommunicators Course (BTC), and have a current CPR certification. The applications are considered for the calendar year they are submitted in the event vacancies open during that year. Short form applications may be obtained through the Lacey Township Municipal Clerk’s Office and submitted to the Lacey Township Police Department. Openings for Public Safety Telecommunicator positions may also be announced by the Township if untrained applicants are to be considered.
