Due to an early morning traffic accident, a portion of Route 9 is closed in Lanoka Harbor. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 9 and First Street causing significant damage to a utility pole. MVA- On Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 4:33 p.m., officers responded to the area of Lacey Road and Penn Avenue for a two-car MVA with injuries. The investigation revealed that the 59 year-old male driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado fell asleep and collided with another vehicle. Theft- On Friday, June 18, 2021, at 8:47 a.m., Officer Scott Anderson was dispatched to an Orlando Drive residence in reference to theft. The homeowner reported that while preparing to go on a golf outing, he placed his bag of clubs near the street waiting for a friend to pick him up. The Lacey Township Police Department is aware of the Power Outage affecting our community. The outage was caused by a down wire. A time frame for the power restoration is unknown at this time.
Fraud- On Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 4:21 p.m., Officer Dallas Gant met with a Forked River resident reporting fraud. The victim claimed that he received notice from NJ Unemployment concerning his application. The victim conveyed that he had not applied for unemployment benefits and that an unknown actor filed fictitiously using his personal information. Burglary- On Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 10:07 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to a Tappan Street residence in reference to vehicle burglaries. The homeowner reported that during overnight hours, unknown person(s) entered two vehicles parked in his driveway. While inside, the actors stole a small amount of cash and a duffel bag containing clothing. Criminal Mischief- On Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 3:14 a.m., police received a call from a Brentwood Road resident reporting damage to his home. Officers discovered that a large rock was thrown through the front window of the residence while the family slept. A search of the area did not reveal any suspects. Theft- On Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 6:53 p.m., Officer Elton Copes took a theft report from a local business. An employee reported observing a customer acting suspicious prior to leaving the store. Afterward, the employee discovered that her wallet was missing. Officer Copes was able to locate the customer and recover the wallet. No criminal charges were filed.
