- DWI Arrest/Possession of CDS – On Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 7:20 a.m., Officer John McKee responded to the area of 309 Route 9 North, Forked River, for a report of a female slumped over the wheel on the side of the road. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19-year-old Jordan L. Metcalf of Ariel Drive, Forked River, for DUI. Jordan Metcalf was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with DWI, Underage DWI, Reckless, and Possession of 50 gram or less of Marijuana. The car she was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Attempted Car Burglary– On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 1:37 a.m., Officer Michael Baldasari responded to the 1000 block of Center Street, Forked River, for a report of two males attempting to gain entry into parked vehicles. One of the male subjects was wearing a red sweatshirt, the other a black sweatshirt. There was no entry into the vehicles because they were locked at the time of the incident. The two males fled the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
- Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 1:56 p.m., Officer Dan Ricciardella responded to the 600 block of Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, for a suspicious individual. Investigation at the scene found Jeffrey E. Phillips of Vine Street, Freehold, NJ, to have an outstanding criminal warrant out of Freehold Boro Municipal Court for $1500. He was processed and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
- DWI Arrest with Accident – On Monday, February 12, 2018, at 7:45 p.m., Officers Patrick Watkins and Brian Holt were dispatched to Deerhead Lake Drive and Lakeside Drive North in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Anthony F. Frascella of Wheaton Avenue, Bayville, NJ, for DUI. Anthony Frascellla was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Use of Cell Phone while Driving. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. He was later released from police custody.
- DWI Arrest with Accident – On Sunday, February 11, 2018, at 10:32 p.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel and Patrick Watkins were dispatched to the intersection of Lacey Road and Newark Avenue in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 32-year-old Annarosa K. Carratura of Hillwood Road in Forked River for DUI. Annarosa K. Carratura was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Observe Signal, and Cell Phone Use while Driving. The vehicle she was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. She was later released from police custody.
- Theft – On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:51 p.m., Officer Robert Duffy responded to the Wawa on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor for a theft report. The juveile complainant reported that upon paying for his merchandise, he left his wallet on the counter and left the store. When he realized he left his wallet behind, he went back to the store but the wallet was gone. The theft occurred sometime between 10:15 p.m. and 10:45 on Saturday night. The wallet is described as a black cloth Volcom wallet. The contents and the wallet are valued at $114. The incident remains under investigation.
- Shoplifting – On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Alan Abrecht and Special Officer Tyler Walsh responded to the Walmart on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter who fled the store on foot with $120 worth of merchandise including three pocket knives and a 16 pack of Duracell AA batteries. The suspect ran toward the wooded area near Lacey Used Auto. The suspect is described as a tall white male in his twenties. Surveillance video was available and the incident remains under investigation.
- Shoplifting Arrest – On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:28 a.m., Officers Adam Ewart and Alan Abrecht responded to the Walmart on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor for a report of an adult male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 60-year old George E. Slawson of Iger Way, Bayville, NJ, after he was observed attempting to steal a “Game of Thrones” box set worth approximately $40.00. George Slawson was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and released after being charged on a criminal summons with shoplifting.
- CDS Arrest – On Friday, February 9, 2018, at 10:32 p.m., Officer Michael Baldasari conducted a motor vehicle stop on Bullard Avenue and Jay Street in Forked River for a vehicle with unclear license plates. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old Sara J. Balo of Princeton Avenue in Bayville, NJ, for possession of marijuana under 50g, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sara Balo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. She received summonses for Possession of CDS and Drug Paraphernalia. Sara Balo also received a motor vehicle summons for Improper Display of License Plates and was released after being charged on a criminal summons.
- DWI Arrest – On Friday, February 9, 2018, at 8:23 p.m., Special Officer Michael Moeller conducted a motor vehicle stop for failure to maintain lane on Lacey Road and Spaulding Avenue in Forked River. Officer Christopher Meyler arrived on scene to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 68-year-old Benedict Vilardo, Jr., of Davenport Road in Toms River, NJ, for DUI. Benedict Vilardo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed. He received motor vehicle summonses for DWI, Reckless, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. He was later released from police custody.
