Weather Alert: The Lacey Township Police Department, in coordination with the Lacey Township Office of Emergency Management is currently monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Hermine and the expected impact on our area. Current models and reports are showing a High Confidence for moderate coastal flooding and erosion possibilities through Monday night, September 5, 2016. Heavy rain is expected to begin on Saturday, September 3, 2016, and continue until sometime Monday, September, 5, 2016, with accumulations for our area in excess of 3 inches of rain. Winds in excess of 39 mph are expected, with the strongest winds occurring between Saturday night and Monday morning. The overall rainfall and winds will be dependent on the track of the storm, which we shall continue to monitor and update as information becomes available.

At the current time the Lacey Township Police Department, and the Lacey Township Office Of Emergency Management would suggest residents take precautionary action, as for any weather event, such as bringing in light objects or tying them down to prevent them from becoming projectiles in high winds. Those in low-lying coastal areas, if necessary, should consider parking their vehicles off the street or moving them to higher ground.

Residents are asked to check on their neighbors who may be vulnerable and advise the police department if any concerns arise. Chief Michael C. DiBella
