UPDATE: Roadway Reopened – (earlier Road Closure) – At 6:45 p.m., Thursday, December 24, 2015, the accident was cleared and the roadway was reopened.
On Thursday, December 24, 2015, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on West Lacey Road in Lacey Township. The crash occurred approximately 2 miles west of the Garden State Parkway (immediately west of Spaulding Avenue).
The preliminary investigation has revealed that a motorist traveling westbound on Lacey Road was attempting to pass other vehicles when it struck an eastbound vehicle head-on. As a result of the crash, two occupants of the eastbound vehicle were flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with serious injuries.
Lacey Road is currently CLOSED in both directions between the Garden State Parkway and Dover Road, while the crash is being investigated. It is anticipated that Lacey Road will remain closed to traffic for several hours.
