Residents should be aware that the emergency sirens positioned within a 10 mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station will be tested at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. The sirens will sound simultaneously for up to three (3) full minutes during the test.
Please share this message with your neighbors. Anyone with concerns related to the siren testing may contact the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at (732) 341-3451.
As a side note to these tests, residents should know that the designed intent of the sirens is to advise people to immediately tune to the emergency broadcasting system for direction in an actual emergency. When the sirens sound, they are not considered an evacuation siren.
I thank residents in advance for cooperation during this testing. – Chief David A. Paprota, Ed.D.
