Residents should be aware that the emergency sirens positioned within a 10 mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station will be tested at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. This particular activation is required to test the old siren system that is still in place until the new system is approved by FEMA. The sirens will sound simultaneously for three (3) full minutes during the test.
Please share this message with your neighbors. As a side note to these tests, residents should know that the designed intent of the sirens is to advise people to immediately tune to the emergency broadcasting system for direction in an actual emergency. It is not considered an evacuation siren.
I thank residents in advance for cooperation during this testing. – Chief David A. Paprota
