Residents should be aware that the emergency sirens positioned within a 10 mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station will be tested at both 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013. These activations are required tests of the system. The sirens will sound for up to three (3) full minutes during the tests.
Further testing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29th, 2013, as well. On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, the testing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and sound at differing intervals throughout the day.
Please share this message with your neighbors.
As a side note to these tests, residents should know that the designed intent of the sirens is to advise people to immediately tune to the emergency broadcasting system for direction in an actual emergency. It is not considered an evacuation siren.
I thank residents in advance for cooperation during this testing. – Chief David A. Paprota
