On Monday morning, April 29, 2013, at 9:13 a.m., a significant portion of Lacey Township experienced a temporary power outage coinciding with a voltage regulator failing along Rt. 9 in the JCP&L switch yard adjacent to the power plant property. Several traffic lights were out as well as power to the High School, Mill Pond School, and the Cedar Creek School. The power company (JCP&L)quickly diverted power and restored electricity within 40 minutes. The Lacey Township Police Department and the Forked River Fire Company responded to the transformer site without incident. The transformer/regulator which failed was not part of the Exelon facility but was part of the JCP&L utilities housed on the back of the property to service Lacey Township.
