• Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 9:45 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop near South Street and Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor for failure to maintain a lane. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger of the motor vehicle, 23-year-old Nicholis A. Caruso of Dickens Street, Browns Mills, NJ, for multiple outstanding warrants. One warrant was an Ocean County warrant in the amount of $869.00 and two were out of Pemberton Township, in the amount of $651.00. Nicholis Caruso was transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility on the outstanding warrants, and also received summonses for open container in a motor vehicle and failure to wear seatbelt.
  • Fraud – On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 8:40 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow took a report of fraud at police headquarters. The victim reported that an unknown person opened a credit card in his name using his date of birth and social security number. The card was opened using a Post Office Box address out of Homestead, Florida on January 14, 2018. The balance on the credit card is over $4000. The Florida address is unknown to the victim. This incident remains under investigation.
  • Theft – On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 8:46 a.m., Officer Michael Hein took a report of fraud at police headquarters. The victim reported she was interested in purchasing a motor home from Craigslist. The victim was instructed to use eBay gift cards as the $1500 down payment. The victim was told to scratch off the silver backing on the gift cards revealing the redemption codes and provide them to the seller whose address was in Fargo, ND. The victim realized that something was not right and decided to call eBay directly. The eBay representative informed her that she was the victim of fraud and the seller was not legitimate. This incident is under investigation by Ebay’s law enforcement division.
  • CDS Arrest (Heroin) – On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 2:28 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler responded to the 1200 block of Spruce Street in Forked River for a suspicious incident. Officer Scott Keefe arrived on scene to assist. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Daniel P. Putman of Bobwhite Court, Forked River, and 27-year-old Ryan D. Territo of Lisa Robyn Circle, Lakewood, NJ. Daniel Putman was charged and released on a summons for Possession of CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic Needle.    Ryan Territo was charged on a warrant for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Hypodermic Needle. He was transferred to the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • Criminal Attempt – On Monday, July 16, 2018, at 6:23 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the 400 block of Seabright Road in Forked River for a report of a suspicious incident. The owner of the residence reported that he noticed a bedroom window open. He knew that this was unusual as the air conditioning was on. It appeared that nothing had been taken from the residence. This incident remains under investigation.
  • Shoplifting Arrest – On Monday, July 16, 2018, at 12:17 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to the Walmart on Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for juvenile shoplifters in custody. The juveniles attempted to leave the store without paying for approximately of $72 worth of merchandise. The 17-year-old female and 15-year-old male were transported to police headquarters and processed on juvenile complaints. After processing, both juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.
  • Eluding Arrest – On Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 1:46 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe attempted to stop a motor vehicle near Lacey Road and the Garden State Parkway for speeding. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop as Officer Keefe actively pursued him North on the Garden State Parkway. Officer Keefe was unable to get the driver of the vehicle to pull over and terminated the pursuit due to public safety concerns. Officer Keefe conducted an extensive investigation into the eluding incident and concluded that the driver of the vehicle was 50-year-old Eric L Collins of Ocean Street, Forked River, NJ. Eric Collins was arrested by Officer Keefe on Thursday, July 19, 2018 for Eluding on a warrant and transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility to await a bail hearing.
  • MVA (DWI Arrest) – On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 6:52 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to Joey Harrison’s River House parking lot for a minor motor vehicle accident involving one vehicle striking two parked cars. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 27-year-old Nicholas O. Generally of Frederick Drive, Bayville, NJ for DWI. Nicholas Generally was transported, processed, and released receiving summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Suspended Driver’s License. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Mulch Fire – On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 3:22 p.m., Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to Bahama Drive near Beach Boulevard in Forked River for a report of a smoldering mulch fire. The Forked River Fire Department responded to the scene and saturated the area. No damage occurred from the fire.
  • Mulch Fire – On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 11:03 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the front parking lot of Kohl’s on Route 9 North in Forked River for a report of a mulch fire. The Forked River Fire Department arrived on scene to extinguish the fire. The fire was deemed not suspicious and believed to be caused by the excessive heat. No damage occurred from the fire.
  • MVA (DWI Arrest) – On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 1:46 a.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the Captain’s Inn on Lacey Road in Forked River for a report of hit and run accident. The vehicle struck a parked car and fled the scene. It was located just up the roadway on Starboard Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 28-year-old Karissa N. May of Oak Hollow Lane, Lanoka Harbor, for DWI. Officer Eton Copes arrived to assist. Karissa May was transported, processed, and released receiving summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples. The vehicle she was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • CDS Arrest– On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 12:42 a.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel and Jason Lee responded to the Lacey Inn on Route 9 North in Forked River for a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 31-year-old Justin S. Heuser of Brooks Avenue, Bayville, NJ for possession of CDS (Bath Salts). He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Justin Heuser was charged on a criminal complaint warrant for Possession of CDS and Possession of Paraphernalia.   • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, July 13, 2018, at 3:22 p.m., at police headquarters, Officer Jeffrey Slota processed 24-year-old Jessica L. Gilzow of Pelican Drive, Bayville, NJ. Jessica Gilzow had an outstanding NJSP Warrant out of Wall Township Municipal Court in the amount of $539. Jessica Gilzow was released after posting bail.
