Special Event – A RED Night Out – Thursday, February 27, 2014 – At the LTHS Auditorium

“Raising and Educating a Drug Free Community”

Lacey Township’s Drug Task Force is hosting a special event at the Lacey Township High School on Thursday, February 27, 2014, with¬†presentations beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The presentations will address the drug problem affecting today’s society and the negative impact on our community. Parents and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Child care will be available in the gymnasium during the event. Substance abuse¬†representatives and resource information will be available on site. This event is free. Door prizes as well as complimentary desserts will be served at the end of the event.

The presenters for the evening are as follows:

  • Phil Bauer, who is a national advocate for prescription drug safety since the death of his son, Mark, in 2004. Phil Bauer has been dedicated to helping others avoid the same fate. He has had the opportunity to speak on the topic of prescription drug abuse at national conferences, to law enforcement, healthcare professionals, politicians, community groups, parents groups, and to high school students. He has testified at a Congressional hearing about prescription drug diversion in Washington and has been a panelist for Congressional briefings. His outreach efforts have taken him throughout Pennsylvania and eight other states.


  • Kevin J. Meara, who in 2011 was appointed by Governor Christie to the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Kevin is a founding member of the non-profit City of Angels, NJ, Inc., which was formed to assist families with substance abuse issues. He has been certified as an NIN Interventionist and a CCAR Recovery Coach. He is on the Hamilton Council and serves as the liaison to the Hamilton Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse. He has authored legislation on addiction issues including the Good Samaritan Emergency Response Act.


  • Chief David A. Paprota, Ed.D., who has over 24 years law of enforcement experience and currently serves as the Chief of the Lacey Township Police Department. Chief Paprota is dedicated to raising substance abuse awareness as well as developing and implementing programs to decrease the devastating negative impact of drug abuse in Lacey Township. Chief Paprota earned his doctoral degree at Seton Hall University while also serving as an adjunct professor. He is a published author and has personally participated in training over 15,000 NJ, NY and PA law enforcement officers throughout his career.

Residents of Lacey Township are encouraged to attend this event and, through awareness, actively become a part of the effort to mitigate the problem of drug addiction which has afflicted too many in our community. A panel discussion will take place after the presentations during which questions from the audience will be answered.
