Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Laceypd.org Self-Reporting Module Added – March 16, 2020
*** UPDATE **** The Lacey Township Police Department website http://Laceypd.org has been updated to allow specific non-emergent incidents to be reported on-line utilizing our self-reporting module. Once you log on to our website, just click on the Red Bar at the top of the screen that states, "File Police Report Online." Follow the steps/directions to self report. Call 911 in an emergency. In addition, you may call the Lacey Township Police Department at (609) 693-6636. Lacey Township Mayor Steven Kennis and Police Chief Michel C. DiBella would like to update our residents and visitors regarding the precautions we are taking to protect both our vulnerable population and our employees. Township News – Message from Lacey Township Police Chief Michael C. DiBella and Lacey Township Mayor Steven Kennis – March 14th, 2020
Lacey Township Mayor Steven Kennis and Police Chief Michel C. DiBella would like to update our residents and visitors regarding the precautions we are taking to protect both our vulnerable population and our employees. This past Wednesday, March 11, 2020, Chief Michael C. DiBella put a temporary modified patrol response plan in place. This plan allows for our police officers to take reports over the phone for calls that do not require evidence to be collected, an on-scene investigation to be conducted, or otherwise require an officer to respond to the scene. Residents having incidents meeting the above criteria are encouraged to utilize this service. The Police Department is also looking into a self-reporting module on our police department’s website (www.Laceypd.org) where our residents will be able to file certain non-emergent police reports on-line. When this becomes available the community will be notified. The goal of these temporary procedures are to help decrease unnecessary contact with individuals as a means of reducing in-person contact and mitigating the risks associated with person-to-person transmission of novel coronavirus. Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Road Closure (Detour) and Controlled Burn – Saturday, March 14th, 2020
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service, in conjunction with the Ocean County Parks Department will be conducting a prescribed burn operation on Ocean County property within Lacey Township tomorrow, March 14th, 2020. The area impacted is located in the area of West Lacey Road between Spaulding Avenue and Carriage Road, west of the Garden State Parkway. Lacey Road will be impacted by a smoke condition during burning operations, as such, a detour will be established at Lacey Road and the Garden State Parkway and Lacey Road and Dover Road. The roadway will be accessible to local traffic only between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Residents located off Spaulding Avenue are requested to utilize the east side of the detour, closest to the Garden State Parkway to gain access to their residence as the roadway west of Spaulding Ave will be closed to vehicular traffic. Residents in the Carriage Road development are requested to access their residence from the west end of the detour at Lacey Road and Dover Road, as Lacey Road will be closed to vehicular traffic east of Penhook Road. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – July 13th, 2018 through July 19th, 2018
Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 9:45 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop near South Street and Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor for failure to maintain a lane. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger of the motor vehicle, 23-year-old Nicholis A. Caruso of Dickens Street, Browns Mills, NJ, for multiple outstanding warrants. One warrant was an Ocean County warrant in the amount of $869.00 and two were out of Pemberton Township, in the amount of $651.00. Nicholis Caruso was transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility on the outstanding warrants, and also received summonses for open container in a motor vehicle and failure to wear seatbelt. Fraud – On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 8:40 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow took a report of fraud at police headquarters. The victim reported that an unknown person opened a credit card in his name using his date of birth and social security number. The card was opened using a Post Office Box address out of Homestead, Florida on January 14, 2018. The balance on the credit card is over $4000. The Florida address is unknown to the victim. Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 8:46 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno and Sergeant Robert Surtees conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of Wendy’s on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 30-year-old Paul Mastrolia, Jr., of Dorchester Avenue in Lakewood, NJ, on a no bail warrant out of Seaside Heights, NJ. Paul Mastrolia, Jr., was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Seaside Heights police responded to Lacey police headquarters and took custody of Mr. Mastrolia. Drug Arrest – On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 2:31 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey, John McKee, and George Resetar responded to the Wawa located on Route 9 and Laurel Blvd in Lanoka Harbor for a suspicious person who had walked out of the store. The 28-year-old male, Michael Bari, of Gladstone Street in Manchester, NJ, was located across the street in the parking lot of the Laurel Plaza. Investigation at the scene led to his arrest for possession of CDS and a hypodermic syringe. He was processed and released with incident. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – June 30th, 2018 through July 5th, 2018
Burglary/Theft/Criminal Mischief- On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at 12:50 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to Longwood Drive, Forked River for a report of a burglary. The victim stated that sometime between 1200 p.m. on July 1, 2018, and 8:00 a.m. on July 2, the detached garage on his property was entered. An unknown suspect stole a yellow Suzuki dirt bike valued at $1000.00. The side door to the garage was unlocked at the time of the theft. During the course of the theft, damage was done to the vehicle in the garage. The estimated value of the damage to the vehicle is $400.00 Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at 12:52 a.m., Officers Scott Keefe, Elton Copes, and Sergeant Robert Surtees responded to the Lacey Inn on Route 9 North in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 23-year-old Christopher D. Phillips who resides at the Lacey Inn, on two active warrants out of Berkeley Township Municipal Court totaling $891. Christopher Phillips was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and later released on his own recognizance.
