Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – March 13th through March 19, 2020
Fire- On Friday, March 13, 2020, at 3:34 p.m., Officer Matthew D’Antonio and Michael Verwey were dispatched to a Weehawken Avenue residence in reference to a fire. Upon arriving, it was determined that the fire originated and was contained to the oven. Members of the Forked River Fire Department responded and assisted with ventilation of the home. Fraud- On Friday, March 13, 2020, at 10:00 p.m., Officer Dallas Gant met with a Lanoka Harbor resident who reported fraudulent transactions. The victim stated that his credit card was used to make two separate Google Pay transactions in the amount of $240. Fraud- On Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 2:30 p.m., Officer John Simonson took a report in reference to fraudulent activity. A Forked River resident noticed that her bank account had been compromised and two charges were made in Texas. The charges were approximately $600. Theft- On Sunday, March 15, 2020, at 6:21 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins met with a Forked River resident reporting her purse missing. Township News – Lacey Township Police Department – Message From Chief Michael C. DiBella – March 18, 2020
Good evening, On Monday, March 16, 2020, Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 104 which among other things limited and/or closed certain businesses in this state, including in our community here in Lacey Township. Yesterday the Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, under his authority as the State's Emergency Management Coordinator and Governor Murphy's Executive Order No. 104, directed the closure of the following facilities effective 8:00 p.m. last evening (March 17th, 2020). These include: all indoor common area portions of retail shopping malls, all indoor and outdoor places of amusement including carnivals, amusement parks, water parks, aquariums, zoos, arcades, fairs, children's play centers, funplexes, theme parks, bowling alleys, and family and children's attractions. They will remain closed as long as the Executive Order is in effect. I will continue to update you regarding any and all additions to the Executive Order. As most of you are aware, over the past week the Lacey Township Police Department has taken precautions and measures to protect both our staff and our community from unnecessary exposure to the coronavirus, especially our vulnerable population. Department News – Lacey Township Police Department – Executive Order No. 104/Self Report Module- March 17, 2020
Yesterday (March 16, 2020) Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 104, with the goal of slowing the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus). Executive Order #104 directs the following: All gatherings of persons in the State of New Jersey shall be limited to 50 persons or fewer, with limited exceptions; All public, private, and parochial preschool programs, and elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools, will be closed beginning tomorrow, March 18th, 2020, and will remain closed as long as this Order remains in effect; Institutions of higher education will cease all in-person instruction beginning tomorrow, March 18th, 2020, and shall cease such in-person instruction as long as this Order remains in effect; The Commissioner of Education shall continue working with each public, private, and parochial school to ensure students are able to continue their education through appropriate home instruction; The Secretary of Agriculture and the Commissioner of Education shall take all necessary actions to ensure all students eligible for free or reduced meals will continue to receive the services necessary to meet nutritional needs during closures; All casinos, concert venues, nightclubs, racetracks, gyms, fitness centers and classes, movie theaters, and performing arts centers were closed to the public beginning [...]

Criminal Mischief Auto – On Monday, August 6, 2018, at 1:07 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 700 block of Spruce Road in Lanoka Harbor for a criminal mischief complaint. The caller reported that his vehicle, which was parked in the street in front of his residence, was vandalized. The passenger-side taillight was broken with no other observable damage to the bumper. The owner believes the taillight was intentionally broken. The estimated damage is $400. Warrant Arrest – On Monday, August 6, 2018, at 12:27 p.m., Officers Michael Hutman, responded to the 200 block of Chestnut Lane in Forked River after being advised that 51-year-old Douglas L. Heege of Aldrich Road, Jackson, NJ, was present at the residence. Douglas Heege was arrested on three outstanding warrants from Brick Township Municipal Court, Ocean County Superior Court, and Freehold Township Municipal Court. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and taken to the Ocean County Correctional Facility without incident. DWI Arrest – On Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 1:18 a.m., Officer Martin Julian conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 North near Lakeside Drive South. The driver of the vehicle, 58- year old Mark Startek, Lakeside Drive, was arrested for DWI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Mark Startek was later released after receiving summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Theft – On Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 1:58 a.m., Officers Martin Julian and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to Walmart on Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report that a male and female were leaving the parking lot riding two Walmart motorized shopping carts heading west on Haines Street. The store manager was notified. The Loss Prevention Department will be checking surveillance footage. The value of the theft is estimated at $1000. DWI Arrest – On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 12:11 a.m., Officer Michael Baldasari conducted a motor vehicle stop on Western Boulevard and Brick Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 1:40 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick, Dan Ricciardella, and Special Officer Austin Deane responded to the 500 block of Elwood Street in Forked River to serve a warrant out of Lacey Township Municipal Court on 39-year-old Brenna A. Haase, Elwood street, Forked River, in the amount of $1000. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Brenna Haase was unable to post bail and was transferred to the Ocean County Correctional Facility without incident. Fraud – On the morning of Wednesday, July 25, 2018, Officer Dan Ricciardella investigated a matter involving credit card fraud. A local business reported that the company credit card was used fraudulently to make over $600 in purchases. Officer Ricciardella was able to identify the suspect through surveillance video and with the help of the business owner, was able to identify the suspect as an employee of the business. On Thursday, July 26, 2018, 25-year-old Christopher Muraczewski was arrested by detectives and charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
