Vehicle Burglaries- April 21, 2020
The Lacey Township Police Department is investigating numerous vehicle burglaries that occurred during the overnight hours between Sunday, April 19, 2020 and Monday, April 20, 2020. Each of the vehicles were parked in driveways or in front of homes located in the Barnegat Pines portion of the township. A variety of items were reported stolen from the unlocked vehicles including wallets, keys, clothing, electronics, and cash. As a reminder, please ensure that your vehicles are locked when not occupied, especially during overnight hours. Additionally, valuables should not be left inside your vehicles. Anyone with information regarding the thefts or home surveillance video capturing possible suspects are urged to contact the Detective Bureau.
Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 10th through April 16th, 2020
Shoplifting- On Friday, April 10, 2020, at 10:01 a.m., Officers Matthew D’Antonio and Scott Anderson responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred earlier this date. Loss prevention officers reported approximately $670 in diapers and baby furniture stolen by two unknown females. Arrest- On Friday, April 10, 2020, at 11:53 a.m., Officers Matthew D’Antonio and Scott Anderson arrested Robert Charlie for outstanding warrants totaling $3,500. Charlie was released on his own recognizance after satisfying bails set by the Brick and Jackson Township Municipal Courts. Fire- On Saturday, April 11, 2020, at 1:43 p.m., Officers Andrew Slota and Alan Abrecht responded to Clearview Street for a report of a fire. The fire apparently originated in bushes at the property line of two homes spreading to a vinyl fence and causing damage to one of the home’s siding. The Forked River Fire Department and the Ocean County Fire Marshal responded. DWI- On Saturday, April 11, 2020, at 8:54 p.m., police headquarters received a call of a male subject slumped over in his vehicle on Beach Boulevard. Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police Department – April 2nd through April 9th, 2020
Theft- On Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 10:14 a.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to Eric Plaza, 336 Lacey Road, in reference to a theft. A business owner there reported that an unknown suspect cut the catalytic converter from his vehicle while it was parked in the lot. The damage is estimated at $1,000. Criminal Mischief- On Saturday, April 4, 2020, at 12:38 p.m., Officer Michael Hutman was dispatched to a Borealis Court home. The homeowner reported that sometime over the prior three days, an unknown person forced entry into his home and damaged the rear door of his residence. Nothing appeared stolen from inside. The damage is estimated at $200. Arrest- On Saturday, April 4, 2020, at 12:55 p.m., Officers Randolph Plis and Michael Hutman responded to a Lake Barnegat Drive residence in reference to a disturbance. During their interactions with the caller, it was determined that Edward Heaton, 22, and Ashley Reynolds, 21, stole the victim’s debit card and withdrew $700. Both Heaton and Reynolds were arrested and charged with Theft of a Credit Card and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. Shoplifting Arrest — On Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 6:52 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Julie Barcalow responded to Walmart 580 Route 9 North in reference to a shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 32-year-old Graham Luepke of Maple Avenue, Toms River for shoplifting $9.99 worth of merchandise. G. Leupke was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Barnegat Township in the amount of $475.00. G. Leupke was processed and released on a criminal summons for shoplifting. The outstanding warrant out of Barnegat was paid during processing. Criminal Mischief (Residence) — On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 11:22 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 300 block of Constitution Drive in reference to criminal mischief to a residence. The homeowner reported that someone spray painted a section of his white vinyl fence with “Truss 357” causing approximately $200.00 in damage. Warrant Arrest — On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 4:34 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to police headquarters to process 30-year-old Jeffrey C. Stiles of Serpentine Drive, Bayville, NJ. DWI Arrest — On Wednesday October 21, at 3:28 p.m., Officers Darrell Nick and Randolph Plis responded to 317 Route 9 North (Lacey Car Wash) for a motorist passed out behind the wheel. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 48-year-old Eric J. Holmberg of Penn Place, Forked River, NJ, for DWI. Eric Holmberg was transported to police headquarters and processed. He received motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Burglary (Residence) — On Monday, November 19, 2018, at 4:02 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 1200 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River for a report of burglary to a residence. The homeowners found the back door had been forced open and pry marks were on the door-jamb. The damage to the door-jamb is estimated at $100. Nothing appeared to be missing. Criminal Mischief (Residence) — On Monday, November 19, 2018, at 3:37 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Clearwater Drive in Forked River to take a report of criminal mischief. Theft – On Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 8:59 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 400 Block of Stony Point Drive, Forked River for a report of a theft. The victim indicated that missing from the residence was a Vizio laptop valued at $1500 and a check for $20,000.00. The incident remains under investigation. Fraud/Identity Theft – On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 1:48 p.m., Officer John McKee responded to 200 Block of Plover Court, Lanoka Harbor to take a report of identity theft. The Complainant stated she received a letter in the mail from Home Depot, which stated her late husband has been denied for a credit card application. The letter also stated that they were unable to verify identity information. The complainant reported a second letter was received from Best Buy, which was addressed to her husband. The letter stated that her husband was approved for a credit card through Citibank for $5,000.00. The complainant contacted Citibank, at which time they cancelled the account.
