The above picture depicts the “No-Shave November” after-photo taken on the evening of Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019.

Members of the Lacey Township Police Department and local Emergency Services broke protocol in November for a good cause. Lacey Township Police Officers, along with members from the Forked River Fire Department, Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, Bamber Lake Fire Department, Lacey EMS,  Lanoka Harbor EMS and the Lacey Township Dive Team, participated in “No Shave November” to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities.  The initiative started, November 1, 2019, and concluded yesterday with our after-photo.

No-Shave November is a fundraiser in which people put down their razor in order to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. During the month of November 2019, residents in Lacey Township found some of their police officers and emergency services personnel to be on the “hairy side.”  Uniformed police officers and Emergency Services personnel were sporting beards and mustaches all in the name of fighting cancer.

Funds raised by the “Lacey Township Challenge” (Lacey Police and Emergency Services) went to charities including, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Prevent Cancer Foundation and Fight Colorectal Cancer. Donations on behalf of the police officers and the Emergency Services personnel were made directly to No-Shave.org under the Lacey Township Challenge.  Both the Lacey Township Police Department and the Lacey Township Emergency Services pledged to reach a total donation of $4000.

As of November 30, 2019, the No-Shave November “Lacey Township Challenge” exceeded the goal and received donations in the total amount of $4671.

During the after-photo I advised my officers that I was going to extend the No-Shave policy for Lacey Township Police Department until 11:59 p.m. on December 31st, 2019.

I want to thank all of my police officers, and the members of our emergency services for their dedication to No-Shave November.  As of January 1st, 2020, the Lacey Township Police Department grooming policy will be back in full effect until next year’s No-Shave November. If anyone has any questions in regard to this initiative you may contact Sergeant George Resetar at the Lacey Township Police Department at 609-693-6636 ext. 2590

Thank you
