• Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 12:56 a.m., Officers Jesse Dalziel, Scott Keefe, and Jason Lee responded to the Wawa, 701 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious male in the parking lot. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 19-year-old Alexander J. Madonna of Pheasant Drive, Bayville, New Jersey, on an outstanding harassment warrant out of South Toms River in the bail amount of $500. Alexander Madonna was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed and ROR’d on the warrant.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11:08 p.m., while investigating a suspicious person at the 7-Eleven, 524 Lacey Road, Forked River, Officer Jesse Dalziel discovered that 51-year-old Antonio Giudice of Deerhead Lake Drive, Forked River, had an active Child Support Warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $10,327.86. He was arrested, transported to police headquarters and processed. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for Driving with a Suspended License, and transported to the Ocean County Correctional facility on the warrant.
  • DUI Arrest – On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 9:37 p.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop at Beach Boulevard and Cape Code Drive, Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 47-year-old Craig P. Roberson of Buena Vista Road, Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Produce a Valid Insurance Card. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • CDS Arrest (Heroin) – On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 8:45 p.m., Officers Scott Keefe and Michael Verwey responded to Via Napoli Restaurant located at 510 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a suspicious incident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old David M. Garcia, Jr., of Pine Valley Court, Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, for possession of CDS. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, served with criminal warrants for Possession of CDS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional facility to await a bail hearing (in conjunction with bail reform).
  • Brush Fire – On Monday, May 15, 2017, at 7:45 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to Route 9 and Salters Lane, Forked River, for a report of a brush fire. Investigation at the scene revealed that the fire was ignited by a blown transformer and downed power lines, which also created a power outage in the area, including the traffic signal at Lakeside Drive South and Route 9, Forked River. The fire was quickly extinguished by the Forked River Fire Department. Nothing was damaged except an old abandoned trailer. Jersey Central Power & Light was notified and arrived to restore power to the area.
  • Telephone/Internet Scam – On Monday, May 15, 2017, at 10:25 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the area of Penn Place, Forked River, for a report of a fraud that occurred via the telephone/internet. Investigation at the scene revealed that the victim received a call from an unknown male subject on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, advising him to sign into his computer and he would see a bunch of warnings that would need his attention. The victim did exactly what the caller asked of him and purchased two $150 Itunes cards online and provided the information to the caller. The victim was further told that he would need to call back a number that was provided to him. The victim stated that when he called back the number it was out of service. This raised his suspicions that he was scammed out of his money. The victim was also contacted on Saturday, May 13, 2017, by another unknown male voice advising him that he was a Federal Agent named “Jacob Whitmore” and he had violated a child pornography law on his computer and would be arrested if he did not pay $500 in restitution fees to him. This second call prompted the victim to notify the authorities.
  • DUI/MVA/Hit and Run – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 5:56 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to the intersection of Route 9 and Haines Street, Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 20-year-old Chelsea L. Speranza of Buena Vista Road, Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Underage Person DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Report Motor Vehicle Accident, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, and Failure to Yield Right of Way. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Shoplifting Arrest – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 3:07 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 37-year-old Toni A. Penniman of Oakleaf Court, Lanoka Harbor, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $120.86. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, charged on a Criminal Summons for Shoplifting, and released.
  • Counterfeit Currency – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 11:44 a.m., Officer Charles May responded to the Lacey Shell Gas Station located at 930 Lacey Road, Forked River, for a report of a counterfeit $100 bill. Investigation at the scene revealed that a male driving a white Cadillac paid for $34 worth of gas using a $100 counterfeit bill. The owner of the vehicle was tracked down and he responded to Lacey Shell to settle his debt. He advised that he was unaware that the money was counterfeit.
  • Bicycle Theft – On Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:16 a.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 400 block of Devon Street, Forked River, for a report of a stolen bicycle. The caller reported that her daughter’s bicycle was stolen from a friend’s home near the 500 block of Alpine Street, Forked River, during the overnight hours between Saturday, May 6, 2017, and Sunday, May 7, 2017. The bicycle was locked up; however, the lock was cut and the bicycle was stolen. The bicycle is described as a sky blue beach cruiser with white flowers and is valued at $400.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, May 12, 2017, at 12:16 a.m., Officer Jesse Dalziel conducted a motor vehicle stop at Jones Road and Route 9 North, Forked River. Investigation at the scene revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Sydney A. Littleford, of Predmore Avenue, Lanoka Harbor, had an active warrant out of Tuckerton for possession of Marijuana under 50 grams in the bail amount of $500 cash. She was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after posting bail.
