  • DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, June 29, 2014, at 4:52 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas responded to the area of Lakeside Drive North and Kearney Drive in Forked River in reference to a report of a driver passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officer Tsarnas observed a GMC Suburban along the roadway with the flashers activated. Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver, later identified as 42-year-old Michael Clark of Tappan Street in Forked River appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat with the vehicle’s engine running. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Michael Clark for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Michael Clark was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters, processed, and was issued traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Open Container of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 10:04 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas and Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the area of Nautilus Boulevard in reference to a suspected drunk driver as called in by a concerned citizen. The vehicle was described as a Dodge Pickup which was traveling north on Route 9. Officer Sarno located the vehicle and stopped it on the 500 block of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River. Officer Sarno observed the vehicle weaving on the roadway and failing to maintain a lane. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Debra Kaczmarek of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Debra Kaczmarek for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Debra Kaczmarek was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and issued motor vehicle summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Exhibit a Driver’s License.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, June 27, 2014, at 11:15 a.m., Officer George Resetar, Officer John McKee, and Officer John Cernek responded to a motor vehicle crash on Bay Way near the intersection of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Upon arrival, officers located a Lincoln Navigator sport utility vehicle stuck in a ditch. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 18-year-old Patrick Murphy of 1245 Spruce Street in Forked River for DUI. Patrick Murphy was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and issued summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and unlicensed driver.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, June 29, 2014, at 12:59 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno stopped a motor vehicle on Moosehead Street and Foch Avenue in Forked River after the driver failed to signal a turn. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 18-year-old Joseph Elafante of 1405 Foch Avenue on a $300 Ocean Gate Municipal Court Traffic Warrant. The Ocean Gate Court Clerk released Joseph Elafante on his own recognizance pending a court date.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Sunday, June 30, 2014, at 4:59 p.m., Officer Frederick Anderson observed a vehicle speeding on West Lacey Road in Forked River. Officer Anderson stopped the vehicle on Lacey Road near the intersection of Carriage Road. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 27-year-old Dean V. Gallo of 1544 South Broad Street in Trenton, NJ, on an outstanding Trenton Municipal Court traffic warrant.  Dean Gallo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after posting $82 cash bail.

  • Burglary (Residence) – On Sunday, June 29, 2014, at 2:44 p.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to 511 Nautilus Boulevard in reference to a burglary. The victim reported that she left her residence at 10:00 p.m. on June 28, 2014, and upon returning home at 2:00 p.m. on June 29, 2014, she observed that her bedroom window was open and the screen was disturbed. Stephanie Hoover reported that all her prescription medication had been stolen from her dresser drawer. No other items were reported stolen.

  • Theft from a Residence – On Friday, June 27, 2014, at 11:27 a.m., Officer Keith Pearce responded to the 400 block of Woodlawn Drive in Forked River in reference to a theft. The resident reported that while she was away for eight days, an unknown person stole several pieces of jewelry from her jewelry box. The stolen items included: a 14 ct. gold pearl and diamond ring; an 18 ct. gold amethyst/diamond ring; a 14 ct. gold engagement ring 1/2 ct. diamond solitaire; a Victorian 1/4 ct. diamond ring (family heirloom); a 14 ct. 18 inch chain necklace; a 14 ct. gold rope chain necklace; and a 14 ct. gold chain with a cross. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $11,600. No signs of forced entry could be located.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Friday, June 27, 2014, at 9:04 p.m., Officer George Resetar and Officer John McKee responded to Kohl’s, 304 Route 9 North in Forked River, in reference to shoplifting. The Loss Prevention Manager reported that an employee of their contracted cleaning service was stealing merchandise from the store. The worker, 44-year-old Teresa Osorno of Lawrence Drive in Lanoka Harbor, was suspected of shoplifting two towels and a bra from the store. The items were valued at $50. Teresa Osorno was placed under arrest and transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed, charged with Shoplifting, and released on a summons.

  • Drug Possession and Distribution (Arrests) – On Thursday, June 26, 2014, detectives from the Lacey Township Police Department completed an investigation into the distribution of Heroin from 100 Clearwater Drive in Forked River. The investigation was initiated on Friday, June 6, 2014, after Lacey patrol officers and paramedics responded to the home for an apparent Heroin overdose. The investigation during the weeks that followed led to a traffic stop on Trenton Avenue in Forked River on Thursday, June 26, 2014, where the target of the drug distribution investigation, 51-year-old Robert Zaug of 100 Clearwater Drive in Forked River, was a passenger in the vehicle. During the motor vehicle stop, Robert Zaug was arrested on two outstanding traffic warrants issued separately by the Lacey Township Municipal Court and Evesham Township Municipal Court. Detectives located 196 bags containing Heroin along with Alprazolam (Xanax) hidden in the dash where Zaug was seated. The driver of the vehicle, 52-year-old George Boustania of 103 Cayuga Road in Barnegat, was also arrested.

    Robert Zaug was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Alprazolam (Xanax), and Intent to Distribute Heroin. Robert Zaug was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $101,000 cash bail. George Boustania was charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Alprazolam (Xanax).  He was released on his own recognizance (ROR) pending a court appearance.

    The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit assisted with the search.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 9:55 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey and Officer Dimitri Tsarnas were on directed enforcement patrol when they stopped a vehicle on Lacey Road near Manchester Avenue after the driver failed to dim high beams for other traffic on the roadway. The operator was identified as 21-year-old Joseph Sinopoli of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor. Joseph Sinopoli was found to be in possession of Marijuana and was subsequently arrested. Joseph Sinopoli was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with possession of possession of Marijuana. Joseph Sinopoli was released on a summons.

  • Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Park – On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 7:03 p.m., Officer Charles May and Officer Adam Ewart responded to the parking lot of Huffy Wallis Park, 1740 Parkside Drive in Forked River, in reference to a report of juveniles consuming alcohol in a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, the officers located a Honda CRV with two occupants. An open 1.50 liter bottle of Gordon’s Vodka was within the vehicle. The occupants were identified as 22-year-old Shawn Kaliske and 21-year-old Amanda Naia, both of Tampa Road in Forked River. The subjects were each issued a complaint-summons for the local ordinance which prohibits alcoholic beverages in a township park. Shawn Kaliske was also issued a motor vehicle summons for having an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. Amanda Naia was also issued a motor vehicle summons for driving while having a suspended license.

  • Burglary (Residence) – On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 9:16 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe and Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 1600 block of Whitcomb Road in Forked River in reference to a burglary. The homeowner reported that his kitchen window screen was damaged and his garage door was open. Investigation at the scene indicated that an unknown person or persons damaged the screen to reach inside the residence and activate the garage door opener. The interior garage door was locked, so entry into the main part of the residence was not gained. The Lacey Township Detective Bureau and Ocean County Criminalistics Unit (CIU) responded to the scene to continue the investigation.

  • Drug Possession and Distribution (Arrests) – On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 24, 2014, Lacey Township Police Department detectives, in cooperation with the United States Postal Service, executed a search warrant at 1510 Arient Road in Forked River. The warrant was obtained during a narcotics investigation initially based on information received from the Forked River office of the U.S. Postal Service. The investigation involved the anticipated delivery of several pounds of Marijuana to 1510 Arient Road in Forked River.

    Prior to executing the warrant at 1510 Arient Road, detectives conducted a stop of a vehicle departing the target home. The vehicle was driven by 42-year-old Lenny Maroney of 558 Lloyd Road in Toms River. Approximately three pounds of Marijuana which had been delivered to 1510 Arient Road in Forked River was located in the vehicle. A subsequent execution of the search warrant at 1510 Arient Road yielded additional Marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

    Both Lenny Maroney and the resident of the target home, 27-year-old Donald Klarmann, were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Intent to Distribute Marijuana.  Both suspects were transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $17,500 cash bail.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Monday, June 23, 2014, at 10:31 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to Salon Tre Chic at 415 Route 9 N in Lanoka Harbor in reference to a shoplifting incident. The business owner reported that 61-year-old Lana Ostrowski of Dugout Drive in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, stole a $60 brush from the front retail counter of the store by placing it in her purse and walking out of the store. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Lana Ostrowski for Shoplifting. Lana Ostrowski was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on a criminal summons for shoplifting.

  • Underage Consumption of Alcohol – On Monday, June 23, 2014, at 10:55 p.m., Special Officer Michael Hutman was on patrol when he made contact with a 16-year-old male juvenile subject in the parking lot of the St. Pius Church located at 300 Lacey Road in Forked River. The juvenile was determined to be intoxicated. Officer Adam Ewart responded to the scene and transported the juvenile to his residence where he was turned over to the custody of his mother. Officer Ewart prepared a juvenile complaint for Underage Consumption of Alcohol.

  • Obstruction of Justice (Arrest) – On Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11:41 p.m., Special Officer Michael Hutman was on patrol when he observed what appeared to be a hand- to-hand drug transaction take place in the Wawa Parking Lot, 444 Route 9 South in Forked River.  The suspicious transaction was between 22-year-old Ryan Territo of Pheasant Street, Manchester, NJ, and another unknown suspect. Special Officer Hutman attempted to stop Ryan Territo, but R. Territo fled north across the Caffrey’s parking lot on his bicycle. Ryan Territo then jumped off his bicycle and fled into the woods on foot. After a lengthy foot search, Ryan Territo was later located at the Towns Square Plaza by Special Officer Hutman. Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the scene and placed Ryan Territo under arrest for Obstructing the Administration of Law. Ryan Territo was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on a summons.

  • Drug Possession and Distribution (Arrest) – On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 7:22 p.m., Lacey Township Police Department Detective Brian Flynn assisted the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Group (SOG) with an investigation of Heroin possession and distribution at 1404 Bullard Avenue in Forked River. The investigation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Christopher C. Cox of 1404 Bullard Avenue who was found in possession of 194 bags of Heroin. Christopher C. Cox was arrested after being stopped on West Lacey Road in Forked River. Christopher C. Cox was charged by SOG members with possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with the intent to Distribute, and Distribution of Heroin. Christopher C. Cox was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
