  • Criminal Mischief On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Officer John McKee took a report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that his motor vehicle was damaged while parked on the roadway on Enterprise Drive in Forked River. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. The words “HO HO” were spray painted on the side of the vehicle.

  • Warrant Arrest On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Officer Adam Ewart was conducting an investigation into a traffic accident that occurred on Lacey Road at the intersection of Manchester Avenue in Forked River. One of the involved drivers, 21-year-old Brooke O’Rourke of Forked River, was arrested for two outstanding warrants. The first warrant was out of the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $750. The second warrant was out of the Berkeley Township Municipal Court in the amount of $100. Brooke O’Rourke posted $850 cash bail and was released from police custody.

  • Theft from a Motor Vehicle – On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Officer Scott Keefe responded to a residence on the 600 block of Tappan Street in Forked River for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The complainant stated that during the overnight hours between Monday, April 14, 2014, and Tuesday, April 15, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered her vehicle and stole a pink iPod Nano valued at $200. The vehicle was unlocked and in the driveway of the residence at the time of the theft.

  • Theft from a Residence – On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Officer Anthony Sarno responded to Spring Oak Assisted Living at 601 Route 9 N in Lanoka Harbor for a theft report. Three separate residents of the facility reported that on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, money was stolen from their rooms. Cash was reportedly stolen from each room with a combined total of $1,400.  The incident is currently under investigation.

  • Attempted Burglary – On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, Officer John McKee responded to garage unit #17-18b at 441 Route 9 South in Forked River in reference to a report of an attempted burglary. The victim reported that it appeared as if someone attempted to enter the garage by prying it open on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, between 1:00 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.  Entry was not gained nor was any damage reported.

  • Possession of a Weapon and Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 12:47 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 North near the intersection of Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 44-year-old David Barney of Lake Avenue in Island Heights, NJ. David Barney was found in possession of a switch blade knife as well as a hypodermic syringe and five wax folds containing Heroin. David Barney was arrested and charged with the following criminal offenses: unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Heroin), and possession of drug paraphernalia. David Barney was also charged with the following motor vehicle offenses: possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, improper maintenance of lamps, and unclear license plates.

  • Warrant Arrest On Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 12:27 p.m., Special Officer Jesse Urban conducted a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Lake Barnegat Drive North near the intersection of Steuben Avenue. The driver, 19-year-old Nicolas Martinez of Forked River was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of Ocean Township Municipal Court in the amount of $150. Nicolas Martinez posted bail and was released from police headquarters.

  • Theft – On Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 2:50 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the Prime Time Smoke Shop at 118 Route 9 South in Forked River regarding a theft that had reportedly just occurred. The manager reported that a white male in his late 20’s with facial hair was wearing grey sweatpants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a Chicago Bears blue wool hat when he entered the store. The employee of the store was helping the male subject and turned her back to show him an additional product at which time the male subject reportedly grabbed a white TD Bank envelope containing $150 cash that was on the counter by the register. The male subject put the envelope in his pocket and fled the store on foot running north on Route 9. The incident is currently under investigation.

  • DUI and Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Friday, April 18, 2014, at 12:57 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a motor vehicle stop on Beach Boulevard near the intersection of Biscayne Drive for speeding. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Kyle Wilson of Shelly Street in Toms River for DUI.  K. Wilson also charged with possession of Marijuana. His vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Kyle Wilson was charged with the following motor vehicle offenses: DUI, reckless driving, speeding, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Kyle Wilson was also charged on a criminal summons for possession of Marijuana.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Friday, April 18, 2014, at 12:12 p.m., Officer Michael Hein arrested 25-year-old Natalie Sabie of Birch Road in Lanoka Harbor for Shoplifting. Natalie Sabie was reported to have attempted to steal $119 worth of electrical items from the Home Depot in Forked River. Natalie Sabie was charged with Shoplifting on a criminal summons and was released from police headquarters.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, April 18, 2014 at 1:57 p.m., Officer Michael Hein was investigating a citizen report of a suspicious female in the roadway on Alpine Street near the intersection of Lower Lake Drive in Forked River. An investigation at the scene led to the discovery of two outstanding warrants for the female, 25-year-old Shannon Augustino of Chelsea Street in Forked River. The first warrant was issued by the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department for the amount of $5,000. The second warrant was issued by the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $500. Shannon Augustino was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest (Arrests) – On Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 1:35 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey and Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the parking lot of Caffrey’s Steakhouse in Forked River for a report of a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that 50-year-old James Magee of Crockett Lane in Whiting, NJ, and 48-year-old Gail Swayze of Corbin Court in Lakewood, NJ, were in a dispute with a taxi driver who had called for police assistance. James Magee and Gail Swayze continued their aggressive and tumultuous behavior after officers arrived. James Magee was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. During the course of the arrest, James Magee became combative and attempted to head butt Officer Michael Verwey while resisting the officer’s efforts to control him during the arrest. James Magee was charged on a criminal summons with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Gail Swayze was also arrested at the scene and charged on a criminal summons with disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 9:55 a.m., Sergeant Vince Meehan conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lacey Road near Manchester Avenue in Forked River. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Jennifer Frazer of Faulkenburgh Avenue in Forked River, was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued by the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department in the amount of $5,000. Jennifer Frazer was able to post bail and was subsequently released from police headquarters.

  • Theft from a Boat – On Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 8:28 a.m. Officer Michael Eden responded to a residence on Taurus Court in Forked River in reference to a theft. The resident reported that between Wednesday, April 16, 2014, and Friday, April 18, 2014, his boat was entered and various fishing poles and fishing equipment were stolen from within the boat. The exact contents and estimated value of the theft has not yet been determined.

  • Fire – On Sunday, April 20, 2014, at 3:24 a.m., the Lacey Township Police Department received a 911 call reporting that the vacant home at 2215 West Lacey Road was engulfed in flames. Officer Dimitri Tsarnas and Officer Robert Duffy responded to the scene. Fire departments from Bamber Lake, Lanoka Harbor, Forked River, Bayville, Pinewald, and Whiting responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries reported at the scene. Detective Alan Abrecht and the Ocean County Fire Marshall are currently investigating the incident.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Monday, April 21, 2014, at 8:48 p.m., Officer Charles May was investigating a suspicious male subject reported to have been ringing doorbells and asking to use the phones of residents in the Pheasant Run development on Llewellyn Parkway near the intersection of Canterbury Drive in Forked River. The investigation led to the arrest of 35-year-old John Humphrey of McCormack Drive in Toms River for two outstanding traffic warrants. The first warrant was issued by the Seaside Park Municipal Court in the amount of $89. The second warrant was issued by the Toms River Municipal Court in the amount of $145. John Humphry posted cash bail for the above warrants and was released from police headquarters.
