Public Advisement – Oyster Creek Siren Testing – Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.

Very Small PatchResidents should be aware that the emergency sirens positioned within a 10 mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station will be tested at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The sirens will sound simultaneously for three (3) full minutes during the test.

Please share this message with your neighbors. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, Office of Emergency Management (OEM), has asked that anyone with concerns related to the siren testing please contact them at (732) 341-3451.

As a side note to these tests, residents should know that the designed intent of the sirens is to advise people to immediately tune to the emergency broadcasting system for direction in an actual emergency. It is not considered an evacuation siren.

I thank residents in advance for cooperation during this testing. – Chief David A. Paprota, Ed.D.
