Drug Presentations – On Friday, September 7, 2013, Chief David A. Paprota of the Lacey Township Police Department spoke to the entire student body of the Lacey Township High School regarding drug abuse within the township which has led to overdoses and multiple drug overdose deaths. Principal James Handschuch and his staff provided time during the annual grade level, beginning-of-the-year assemblies for Chief Paprota to speak. Students were addressed by grade level (9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th) in separate assemblies, and the presentation was adjusted to address the specific concerns at each grade/age level. The focus of the presentation was the abuse of prescription pills (pain killers) at the high school level which invariably has led to heroin use therafter. The Lacey Township Police Department will continue a relentless effort to not only engage in strict and proactive drug enforcement (more than 55 drug arrests since July 1, 2013), but will take every opportunity to educate parents and students regarding the current dangers being faced in our community.
