Commercial Burglary  –  On Monday, July 22, 2013, at 1:30 a.m., an unknown subject smashed a glass window along the entrance of the Kohl’s Department Store on Route 9 in Forked River and made entry to commit a theft of jewelry. The subject was wearing dark clothing, a dark ski mask, and was carrying a back pack.The unknown subject was within the closed store for less than one minute, but was able to gain entry to a jewelry case by smashing the glass. A yet to be determined quantity of lower-valued, gold-plated, Sterling silver is known to be stolen at this point. A K-9 search of the area yielded no results. The matter is currently under investigation.
