Boating Hazardous Condition Alert – The United States Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light has issued a hazardous boating alert. The USCG Station Barnegat Light would like to alert all area boaters to a serious shoaling issue that has developed on Barnegat Bay in the vicinity of the Oyster Creek channel. All boaters operating in the area, between Buoys 36 and 40 in the Oyster Creek Channel, are urged to navigate the area with extreme caution due to severe shoaling. All vessels should reduce speed, occupants should wear life jackets, post a lookout and maintain a safe distance to allow for maneuvering at all times. The USCG Station Barnegat Light has reported that some buoys in the affected area have been relocated to better identify the dangers. Boaters should remain cautious in navigating these extremely shallow and hazardous areas.
