Breaking News: Man arrested in connection to a string of car burglaries in the township

During the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 30, 2018, Lacey Detectives assisted by members of Ocean County SWAT and the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau, executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Norwood Street, Forked River, NJ.  The suspect arrested was identified as 47-year-old Lance Romano who is currently renting a room in the home.   Shoplifting- On Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 1:41 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to the Walmart, 580 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor, for a shoplifter. Secondhand Dealer Ordinance §161-1 et seq. passed on Thursday, November 13, 2014

Drug Overdose Immunity Law, enacted May 2013

New Jersey enacted a law under N.J.S.A. 2C:35-30 which provides immunity from arrest, charge, prosecution, and conviction for any person who seeks medical attention for another who has overdosed on a controlled dangerous substance. The person who overdosed is also provided immunity as well. No Smoking at Township Facilities or on Township Properties, enacted March 2013

The Township of Lacey now has an ordinance specifically prohibiting the possession of a burning cigarette or other tobacco product while on the property of a Township owned facility. Under state law, it has been unlawful for years to smoke in public buildings. This new ordinance now includes a prohibition on smoking on the property outside the buildings.  The ordinance may be found under Section 288 of the Township Code.
